3 ~ Let The Games Commence

Lucy's POV

I woke up in an unfamiliar bed, but moments after checking my surroundings I remembered where I was and got out of the bed. Stretching my arms out, I yawned and sat down on the floor. I used to lie down on the little rug when I was small because it was so soft. I'm glad to say that it still was soft.

"Miss Lucy, you will be leaving for school in 20 minutes. We have the driver ready at moments notice." A voice called from outside my room.

"Uh, that won't be necessary," I replied. "I'll walk, I need some fresh air."

"Are you sure Miss?"

"I'm sure," I called out.

Standing up I wandered over to my walk win wardrobe and looked for my new school uniform. I had a feeling that they were going to be at Magnolia High. I knew it. It was too obvious to ignore.

The school uniform consisted of a grey skirt, white shirt/blouse, blue tie and red blazer along with an additional light yellow cardigan. I took my blue side bag with me along with spare pens, pencils and a notebook in case I needed them. By the time I was done changing and had applied all of my make-up there was another knock at my door.

"Miss Lucy, there's a young man outside waiting for you. He says to tell you," The servant coughed, "'The Celestials are here.' Or whatever that's meant to mean miss."

My mouth opened wide and I grabbed my stuff before speeding out of the door and out of the house.

"Oh wait!" I hurried back into my room and quickly but carefully put in my green eye contacts and put on my brown hair wig. I didn't want to be recognised easily.

-----------

"Loke!" I cried, jumping into my friend's arms.

"Nice to see you too Lucy," He chuckled, catching me. "Capricorn's applied for a job at Fairy Tail, I'm too young so I'll be your classmate."

"Well then classmate, you should know that I'm enrolling as Layla Hart."

"Shall we go Layla?" Loke laughed, carrying me over to his motorbike. "Careful though, I travel fast."

I took a helmet from the bike and put it on. Wriggling out of Loke's arms I hopped on the bike and grinned. "I think you'll find that I'll be the one driving."

"Wow, your personality hasn't changed Layla," Loke said, "Do you drive slowly? Since you're Daddy's precious little treasure?"

I smacked him in the face playfully. "Just get on. You'll have to use some sort of app on your phone to find the place."

He felt his cheek where I had hit him and acted as if he was in pain, after realizing that I wasn't falling for it he shrugged and got on the back of the motorbike. Grabbing his helmet he handed me a light pink one, with unicorn stickers all over it. I smiled as I remembered that he bought me this as a birthday present five years ago when he first got a Moped.

"Still the same helmet?"

"Of course princess." He winked and we both burst out laughing.

--------

"Woah." My mouth opened and my eyes widened. Magnolia High was a prestigious school without a doubt, it looked like a castle. Students flooded the campus, some of them were wearing different coloured blazers, the people who were wearing red blazers however seemed friendly but at the same time insane.

"Hi there, you must be new!" A white-haired girl approached me and Loke. "And you're in the Fairy Tail sector, so I'm guessing Layla and Loke?"

"Uhh...." I didn't know what to say, this girl knew me straight away.

"Yup, that's us!" Loke grinned. "By any chance are you Mira-Jane Strauss?"

"Mira-Jane..." I whispered.

"Oh how embarrassing," the girl blushed. "I'm not always recognised in school, I model for a small clothing shop in a different region so I didn't think anyone would've seen that!" She giggled and continued to speak to Loke, giving me some time to look at the students again.

"So Layla, any questions?" I snapped out of my daze and shook my head.

"Um, no thank you."

"My my, you look awfully familiar..." She tilted her head and moved closer to me. "Have we met before?"

"No, I don't recognise you at all. Other than the modelling you do, I don't think I've seen you at all." I mentally thanked myself for the acting lessons I used to have. "But I hope we can spend more time together Mira-Jane! You seem like a delightful person."

She smiled again, but before she could say anything else the bell rang. "There goes the bell. I'll take you two to the office for your timetables and I'll see if I can get Lisanna to make you a map of the school."

Lisanna... Lisanna! I froze as I remembered who Mira-Jane Strauss was.

A friend who turned out to not be a friend.

Lisanna and Elfman were her siblings.

And they're going to meet me.

"That won't be necessary Mira-Jane," Loke cut in. "You see, my guardian Capricorn printed off a map for us both and our timetables were e-mailed to us both. He likes to be organised you see."

"Oh, well that's great! I'll be seeing you two at break then." She waved to us both as she left.

"Too close." I said. "Loke if someone recognises me and I freeze you need to help me. I was close to slipping up back there."

"I could tell, your acting skills are rusty." I whacked him on the arm and smiled as he almost fell over. "Okay, okay. No need for violence."

I took out my timetable and read aloud, "Form room E8, do you have the same form Loke?"

He shook his head. "Mine's B5. I think that's a business room, but I have maths after form in M2."

"Same here. Good luck Loke." We began to walk towards the building.

"Good luck to you too Layla." He made a face and quoted one of our favourite books, "And may the odds be ever in your flavour."

"It's favour."

"That's what I said, flavour."

"Idiot."

---------

The English rooms were easy to find, Loke looked upset about the fact that the Business department was on the other side of the buildng.

"And maths is over here too, damn it all."

Giggling, I made my way to form and entered a room full of chattering people. Mira-Jane was near the front chatting with a brunette who I gladly didn't know. As soon as I took one step through the doorway Mira-Jane shouted, "Layla! Over here!"

The room continued to move around with life as I made my way over to Mira. "Hello Mira-Jane."

"Call me Mira, Mira-Jane makes me feel like an older woman."

"But it's a lovely name Mira! Even Laxus thinks so." The brunette elbowed Mira.

"C-Cana!" Mira slapped her hand over Cana's mouth. "Shhh!"

Cana moved Mira's hand and laughed. "Name's Cana if you didn't already know." She stuck her hand out to me and I shook it.

"Layla. So, who's our form tutor? I forgot to check."

"It's --,"

"NATSU!"

The classroom froze and voices died down as an unhappy looking teacher entered the room. A blue-haired teacher stood at the front of the classroom, his eyes scanning all of the students.

"Mr Conbolt, Natsu isn't here yet." A small bluenette said. "He's busy fixing his bike, it broke on the way to school this morning."

"Well that troublemaker decided to fill the staff room's water cooler with tadpoles. Everyone knows Mr Hades yes?"

Everyone but me nodded.

"Well, can you imagine what he'll do if Natsu doesn't own up?"

"How do you know it was Natsu sir?" Cana asked.

"Who else would it be?"

"True, true."

"Hmph, well if anyone sees him before I do, tell him--,"

"AAGGHHHH!" A voice yelled. Moments after, a pink-haired boy flew into the classroom landing on his back. "That was epic!" He laughed.

He stood up and rushed out of the room. Mr Conbolt watched in dismay as the boy rocketed back into the room and into the same position as before.

"Natsu, go to the staff room now." He sighed.

"What? Why?" Pink boy got up and looked at Mr Conbolt with an eyebrow raised. "I didn't do anything."

"Tadpoles in the water cooler."

Pink boy looked at the ceiling, then burst into a fit of laughter. "Who drank it?!"

"Mr Hades."

"Oh shoot."

Mr Conbolt sighed. "I'll try to get you off the hook. Again."

"Yes! Thanks Macao."

"I-It's Mr Conbolt!"

"Whatever, Romeo says you packed the wrong lunch again by the way."

"Wha- Again?!"

Mr Conbolt rushed out of the room and a happy looking guy strolled towards a desk near the back of the room.

"Hey Natsu!" Mira called out, "Wanna meet a new girl?"

The whole class stopped what they were doing and turned to face me. Seconds passed before I was overwhelmed by a sea of students eager to meet me.

"Hey! Hey! Hey!" Mira shouted, "Stand to attention now!" Her voice deepened and she seemed to have a deathly aura about her, The other students stood in lines, each one of them seemed as scared as the one next to them.

She turned and smiled at me. "This is Layla everyone! She's new today so make sure you help her out if you see her around looking lost."

"Your name is lovely." The small bluenette who I saw earlier approached me. "I'm Wendy Marvell."

"Layla Hart, and thank you Wendy! Your name is nicer though, seriously." We smiled at each other and other students came up to me to introduce themselves.

"Elfman Strauss." A tall, muscular guy stuck his hand out for me to shake. "I'm Mira's --,"

"Brother." I blurted out.

"Y-Yeah, pretty obvious huh?" He chuckled. "Well, I hope to see you around Layla. Join the sports team if you're manly enough."

"Natsu Dragneel. Teen heartthrob, head of the football team, or soccer team if you prefer calling it that."

"Layla Hart." I said, remembering who he was.

Him.

"Well Layla, would you like to meet my group of frie--," I pretended to realize something so I could get away from him.

"Sorry I just remembered that I need to hand in a note to the office before first period." I grabbed my bags and hurried out of the room. I don't want to talk to him, not now, not later, not ever. Okay, not ever seems kind of mean. But he should have thought about this seven years ago!

...

...

He didn't know what would happen today seven years ago.

I sighed and looked around. "Great, I'm lost."

"Lydia!" Natsu's voice called out from behind me. "You left in such a hurry, Mira wanted me to check if you were okay."

"I'm fine Dragneel. I just need to know where I am."

"You're in the maths block, the office is--," The bell rang, interrupting Natsu's directions.

"Never mind! I think I'll hand it in at break instead. See you Dragneel." Checking my timetable I saw that my maths room was M2, same as Loke's like we stated earlier.

"Hey, you're in my maths group!" Natsu pointed out. "Maybe we'll sit next to each other."

"Maybe..."

Please let me sit as far away from him as possible.

"Lu-Layla!" Loke said, approaching me and Dragneel. "How was form?"

"Okay, there were way to many people to remember though."

"I'm Natsu, I'm in her form."

"Well Natsu, make sure Layla's okay--," I glared at Loke who then remembered what I told him about Natsu. "Uhm, try not to annoy her or anything, in fact don't say much to her. Guys usually piss her off."

"Excuse me?! Your pick up lines piss me off! I'm fine around guys, I just hate some of them."

Loke looked at me, then turned back to Natsu. "Watch out, she probably hates you and me." The boys chuckled and I stormed past them into the maths room.

"Pick wherever you want to sit." The teacher said, her voice dull. "Boy girl seating please. Natsu keep away from Gray, Erza keep away from them both."

Gray, and Erza....?

I expected this, but I didn't expect to be in the same class as them all!

"Levy! Have you done the homework?"

"Ha ha Gray, there was no homework."

Levy too?!

A white haired girl approached me, "You must be Layla! My sis told me about you on the way to maths. I'm Lisanna!"

All.... Of.... Them?

"Yeah, I'm Layla, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too Layla, your hair is gorgeous!" Lisanna beamed.

"T-Thanks...."

I sat down at the nearest desk and unpacked my pencil case. "I still need to get a maths book." I mumbled.

"Need something?" I looked up to see someone handing me an orange book.

"Thanks, I--,"

Natsu was grinning down at me. "Mind if I sit here?"
