Chapter 9

Sun beamed through a black she cats eyelids which caused Mothsight to open her eyes wearily. She looked up to see a strange cat looking down at her.

She blinked, bewildered.

Then she froze. It was Ravenwing.

"W-what happened?" She muttered uneasily, trying to get up, and failing.

There was pain everywhere, and she found some new scratches on her body.

"Ah, but do you really need to know? We will keep you hostage." She purred, and a black tom with amber eyes stood out behind her, his white nose twitching.

"I smell more ThunderClan." He hissed, and Mothsight thought he had quite a deep voice.

Ravenwing's fur prickled. "It's probably someone trying to get her," she snorted, unsheathing her claws. "Make sure everyone is ready for an attack. Moon can look after Mothsight.

Nervous about her care, Mothsight struggled to get up, and when she did, began to lay, knowing she wouldn't be able to stand and escape for a while yet.

Right when the Clans are in war. She thought darkly to herself. Right when my Clan needs me.

A small, silver she cat with white dapples and dark grey ear tufts padded in and dipped her head to Ravenwing.

"I heard my name," she announced softly, her blue eyes scanning Mothsight with uncertainty but interest.

"Do I look after her?" She asked.

"Yes, Moon," Ravenwing replied, beckoning  the black tom to leave, and she slowly followed him.

"Make sure she doesn't escape." She hissed and slid into the shadows.

Mothsight glanced at Moon nervously. She looked like a nice cat, but also looked stubborn and weak.

"So, uh, hello.." she muttered, looking away swiftly. Then her eyes caught the fresh kill pile, and she padded forward to pick up a magpie.

Then she carried it over to Mothsight and dropped it.

"Here, eat," she ordered gently, laying down. Mothsight relaxed at this calm cat's presence.

She began to devour the magpie, suddenly noticing how hungry she was.

"Want some?" She offered when there were a few bites left.

Moon shook her head politely. "I've already eaten. By the way," she quickly looked around.

"You can go. I won't stop you, I don't think this is right," she flicked her tail. "Go quickly."

Mothsight blinked in pure shock, wondering if it was a trick.

"Go!" She ordered, her head still swivelling to look behind her.

Mothsight quickly dipped her head gratefully. She was wasting no chance.

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

.~~.

Mothsight limped back to camp, determined to not let Ravenwing find out and capture her.

Above, the trees towered over her, some bending into arches to block out the sunlight.

She looked up, purring with joy. She was back home!

Then she remembered what had caused her to black-out.

She shivered, wondering if her Clan had won. Were they driven off? Did Ravenwing and the rogues defeat them? She shook her head firmly.

My Clan is strong, and will not be beaten by a bunch of heartless rogues. She reassured herself.

She tried to go quicker, desperate to know if her kin and friends were still alive.

A thought hit her. Is Stormcloud okay?  She swiftly dismissed the thought by shaking her head. Of course he'd be okay!

"Mothsight?" A gasp tore her away from her thoughts, and she whirled around. Petalstar. The ThunderClan leader stood, staring in shock. Her pelt was dried with blood, and was covered in wounds.

"Petalstar! What happened?" Mothsight ran over, forgetting her aching pains.

"Ravenwing and her rogues attacked us, that's what!" She snorted, and she narrowed her eyes.

"What happened to you? Why didn't you help?" She demanded.

Mothsight blinked with surprise. What did she think she had done? Fell of the gorge so she didn't have to fight?

"We were running to camp and Ravenwing leaped onto me and pushed my throat onto the ground. Then I passed out and woke up to Ravenwing keeping me hostage. Then apparently a ThunderClan cat was scented and she left me with a rogue who let me get away," she explained swiftly.

Petalstar's eyes darkened.

"Did we win?" The black she cat asked hopefully.

Petalstar sighed and slowly shook her head, making Mothsight freeze.

"We lost?" She echoed her thoughts.

"Yes. They drive us out of camp and we all separated. StarClan knows where the others are," she looked up to the upcoming stars that lay in silverpelt, somehow hoping they would help her.

"So you don't know where anyone is? Anyone at all?" Mothsight became anxious. What would happen to her Clan now?

Petalstar moved her head from left to right repeatedly.

"Then we will go find them!" Mothsight declared confidently. Petalstar looked up hopelessly.

"I like your determination, but it's hopeless Mothsight. ThunderClan is gone."
