A/N - After seeing "Multiverse of Madness" I finally have the motivation to finish telling Madison's story.

Tony was taken to the infirmary in the compound.

Rhodey came out of his room. "Bruce gave him a sedative. He's gonna probably be out for the rest of the day."

"Good. He needs rest," Madison said. When they'd gotten back from Wakanda, Madison had slept for a day and a half.

"You guys take care of him and I'll bring him a Xorrian elixir when I come back," Carol said. She started to walk off.

"Where are you going?" Steve asked her.

"To kill Thanos."

Madison turned to Steve. "I like her."

"Hey," Natasha said.

Carol turned to her.

"You know, we usually work as a team here and, uh, between you and I, morale's a little fragile," Natasha explained.

"We realize up there is more your territory, but this is out fight, too," Steve added.

Madison walked up next to Steve and slipped her hand in his, setting her other hand on his arm.

"You even know where he is?" Rhodey asked.

"I know people who might," Carol said.

Nebula, who had been rather quite since arriving at the compound, spoke up. "Don't bother. I can tell you where Thanos is."

They gathered in the main meeting room.

"Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me. And when he worked, he talked about his Great Plan. Even disassembled, I wanted to please him. I'd ask where would we go once his plan was complete? And his answer was always the same. To the Garden." Nebula walked up to the table.

"That's cute. Thanos has a retirement plan," Rhodey said.

"So, where is he?" Steve asked.

Rocket waved his hand and Earth popped up. "When Thanos snapped his fingers Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it. Until two days ago..." Rocket flipped through a couple of galaxies to a planet. "...on this planet."

"Thanos is there," Nebula said.

Natasha leaned into the projection. "He used the stones again."

"Hey, hey, hey. We'd be going in shorthanded, you know?" Bruce argued.

"Look, he's still got the stones, so..." Rhodey said.

"So let's get 'em. Use them to bring everyone back," Carol suggested.

"Just like that?" Bruce asked.

"Yeah. Just like that," Steve said.

"Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this I mean, we owe it to everyone who's not in the this to try," Natasha said. She would do anything to bring her Baby Bird's soulmate back.

"If we do this, how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did before?" Bruce asked.

"Because before you didn't have me," Carol told them.

"Hey, new girl? Everybody in this room is about that superhero life. And if don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?" Rhodey asked.

"There a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys.

Madison stood up. "Great. Let's go."

Everyone looked at her.

"You're staying here", Steve told her.

"The hell I am."

"Madison, I understand you wanna get Pietro back, but your first priority needs to be that baby", Steve said, officially announcing to everyone that she was pregnant.

"I fought in the Battle of Wakanda!"

"Because you didn't know any better. You're not going".

"Oh yeah? You gonna stop me?"

Steve clinched his jaw before picking her up and hoisting her over his shoulder.

"Steven Grant Rogers! You put me down!" she screamed, banging her fists on his back.

He carried her to her room and put her on the bed. "Stay here", he told her, "Can you do that or do I have to lock you in here?"

Madison pouted.

"We're gonna get everyone back. I...", he told her.

"Please don't promise me that."

Pietro had promised that she would never lose him and look where it got her.

Madison waited around the compound, waiting to feel Pietro's mind signature appear again.

But nothing ever happened.

When Rocket's ship landed, she met them out on the lawn.

The ramp lowered and Steve walked up to Madison. "Madison, I..."

Madison shook her head, knowing it was too good to be true. Her hands settled on her stomach as tears started to roll down her face.

Steve wrapped his arms around her and drew her into his chest as she cried.

It felt like losing Pietro all over again.

Natasha walked up to them and rubbed Madison's back. "I'm so sorry, Baby Bird."

Pietro may have been gone forever, but at least their baby would grow up being loved and cared for by multiple people like her own childhood.

*8 months later*

"Come on, Baby Bird. You can do this!" Natasha told her.

Madison shook her head as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"Pietro would want you to be strong", she said.

Pietro was gone. Her father was gone. She didn't even know if he was still alive.

Madison screamed as she gave another push. A cry was heard and Madison dropped back onto the bed.

"She's here, Baby Bird! You did so well!" Natasha said, smoothing her hair back from her face.

"Have we decided on a name?" the nurse asked.

Madison nodded. "Piper Natasha Stevie...Maximoff", Madison told her. At the last moment, Madison decided to give her Pietro's last name. Just so she would know where she came from.

The nurse placed Piper in Madison's arms.

Piper opened her eyes and Madison saw Pietro staring back at her. "Hey. Hey there, chickadee", she said.

"Chickadee?" Natasha asked her.

"Well you and my father call me Baby Bird so she should have her own nickname."

"They would be proud of you. All of them."

After Piper was taken to be cleaned up, Madison was allowed visitors.

Steve was first. "Hey."

"Hey", she echoed.

He knelt by her bedside and took her hand in his.

"I named her after you...and my mother", she told him.

"Me? But why?"

"Because you're a good man and I wouldn't be the woman I am today if it wasn't for you".

Steve smiled. "He would be so proud of you. You're gonna do great."

Madison gazed down at her newborn daughter and hoped he was right.
