After nearly 12 hours, everyone was allowed out of the safe room and immediately sent to their rooms. Guards searched the hallways for the dead and injured and opened other safe rooms to get maids and other palace staff out and to search for the missing royals and selected.

They checked and and double and even triple-checked everywhere.

The four were nowhere to be found.

The Selected were allowed out of their rooms and gathered in the large women's room. King and Queen stood in front of the group, and the other royals stood off to the side. Roman and Amara were holding onto each other, and the latter had her face hidden in Roman's shirt.

King Tobias glanced toward his sister and brother in law before looking at the group of Selected with a solemn expression. "Prince Gabriel, Princess Kelly, Sir Aiden, and Sir Anthony have not been found." He paused. "We learned that they were all outside when the rebels attacked, and guards are searching the forest as we speak." He looked toward Roman and Amara. "We will find them," he said, more to the two of them than anyone else.

He looked back at the Selected. "In the meantime, please stay inside this room. Meals will be brought to you." He paused when the door opened and one of the guards walked up to him, whispering something to him. He closed his eyes, bowing his head for a moment. "Keep yourselves busy. They will be fine. Roman. Amara. Please come with me."

The royal family all quickly left the room.
