BUT. Don't click away. I want to talk about why I haven't been quite as active on Wattpad lately, and when you can expect new updates to The Darkness Cometh. 

Part of why I've been absent is that I left/lost my job in March, so I've been struggling to make ends meet.

I know what you're thinking, "But Jandra, you're writing full-time, so that means you should be able to update MORE not less!"

I wish that was true. I thought it would be true. However, there's a downside of being a full-time writer, especially when you have bills to pay.

Writing and publishing a book doesn't pay a ton of money.

Unless you're lucky enough to get a large advance or write a smash hit (hey, John Green), publishing a book isn't a guaranteed money maker. Building a financially successful writing career takes LOTS of time and hard work, and that work doesn't always involve writing the next chapter of my latest book.

I've been writing for websites + magazines like Greatist.com, HelloGiggles, Brit + Co, and more because getting paid for writing is pretty dang cool. However, that process is also very long and time-consuming. 

What does that have to do with you?

I'm so glad you asked. There are ways you can support authors beyond buying their books. Although, yes, I would love it if you all bought a copy of FRAGILE (or put it on your Christmas list!), that's not always doable. 

Or, maybe you already got a copy and you're wondering how you can help next.

Here's a list of ways you can support the authors in your life (besides buying their books):

- Review the book on Amazon
- Review the book on Goodreads
- Review the book on...anywhere
- Donate to their Ko-fi or Patreon
- Ask your local library to buy the book for their collection
- Post about the book on social media
- Tell a friend about the book
- Tell your English/Literature teacher about the book (I do speaking! I can talk to your class!)
- Follow them on social media
- Leave comments on Instagram

There are loads of other ways to support authors, and this is only a short list. Trust me - even doing something small can have a BIG impact - so please consider taking the time to do one (or all) of the things on this list.
