Chapter 5: The Underground

(Yolanda's POV)

I watched Hoggle sit as I did the same and gave him a brief run down of the situation. Needless to say he was no pleased to hear any of it, with sad eyes he looked at me and spoke. "Sarah is gone?" The words seemed to hurt him as he said them but it was the truth, so I nod slowly. He looked down and quickly wiped his eyes playing it off as some dust in his eyes, but I knew it was to hide his tears. I have him a reassuring back rub. "It's ok, I miss her too."

We both shared a moment of silence as he composed himself then stood. "I know how much it must hurt. She was the only one that understood us...Though that doesn't explain why you're here." He said as he picked up his equipment and starts back on his work as he continued to listen. I gave him a quick run down of the situation then told him about Jareth's deal that he made me, that caused Hoggle to turn to me. "Now you listen here, Jareth is not someone to play with. Those human features trick you, behind those eyes are a snake." Hoggle scolds, much like a parent or an uncle would. I held up my hands in defense.

"Alright Uncle Hoggle, alright. But...it cant be any worse them what my family was like. Its all work, college applications, school, courses, don't daydream, stop writing so many poems and do your school work. It's like I don't have any life for myself." I told him them quickly explained  what had happened no more then a hour earlier, and how I felt so hurt by her family's lack of care for me.

Needless to say, besides the flustered nature of my teasing of calling him uncle, he quickly shook his head then goes back to work.  "Teenagers." He mumbled to himself. "I warn you Yolanda, you'll just get hurt here. Go back home." He pleads but I shook my head.

"I need to be more then what my family wants," I said only to be met with his disappointed gaze, "please try to understand." I said. He goes back to work.

"Fine, but don't expect me to come save you when you're lost or hurt in the labyrinth." He said as he goes about his work. Yep, definitely a annoyed uncle figure. I huffed and nodded. "Fine. I can do this myself!" And with that I walked off into the labyrinth to find my want to the center, leaving him behind.

" What does he even know? He doesn't see how my family is everyday. Maybe I sound like a child but it doesn't mean it makes it right." I grumbled as I walked away, but i felt his eyes one me as i walked away.

I was walking for what felt like hours, after enduring annoying vines changing my markings to keep track of where I've been, a stupid swarm of mystical bees chasing me off my path, and some weird old man that didn't give me a single ounce of help, I arrived at a pathway with two doors with four creatures clinging to a door like structure. I approached as they begin to speak.

"Hello young lass! Are you looking to enter?" One cladded in red said as another in blue vigorously nods his head as if agreeing with his statement. I looked at them and gave a shrug. "It would lead me elsewhere. Alright. Ill go through-" They stop me.

"Oh no no no, You see you have to pick the correct door. One of us leads to the castle, and the other to, certain death." The blue clad male proclaims. I looks between then again and huffed. "Well which one is it?" I asked.
"Well thats the thing, you have to fine out. You see one of us always tells that truth." The red man stopped ad the blue one continued. "And one of us Always lies!" I stood back and thought about this.

"But wouldn't the first person to state that be telling the truth, and the one that claims that one always lies, would be lying?"  I debate to see if they would simply give me my answer. They looked confused but I continue. "But of course, I can't trust either of you because for all I know, both of you could lead to the castle and the certain death thing is to just make yourself sound scarier." I seemed to have lost them. "So in short. It doesn't matter which door I pick. So Mr. Blue man, please step aside!" I said proudly at my detective like skills. I walked through the threshold...and immediately felt the floor cave in beneath me.
