Uncle Flops!
"Kids! Uncle Stripe and Uncle Radley are here!" Chilli called as she reached for the front door. She heard the thundering of footsteps upstairs and opened the door to greet the two brothers.
Soon enough, Bluey and Bingo were seen bolting down the staircase, Bandit following behind them at a much slower pace.
"UNCLE RADLEY!"
The kids jumped into Radley's arms, knocking a grunt out of him as he scooped them up onto his shoulders.
"Hey..." Radley squinted his eyes at the blue puppy, "... Bingo?"
Bluey squealed and swung her legs, "Noo! Im Bluey!" She pointed to the red heeler that was on her Uncle's other shoulder, "Thats Bingo!"
Radley's face lit up, "ohh right right right, because you're blue!" He tickled them slightly, causing a giggling mess. He put them back on the floor to not make them fall.
Uncle Stripe piped up, "Hey, do I not get a hug? Its been a while too!" His eyebrow raised.
"We saw you yesterday!" Bingo giggled, her tail swinging behind her.
Stripe rolled his eyes and his ears perked when he heard the sound of footsteps thumping their way over.
Bandit smiled and opened his arms, "Heyy, Rads!" Radley happily accepted the hug.
They let go and Bandit stepped back and looked at Stripe, "Hey Flops," He had a mischievous smile.
The younger brother took a double take, his mouth fell agape, "Flops?!" Radley snorted and turned away.
Bluey and Bingo looked up at their dad, confused, "Flops?"
Bandit couldnt help but snicker at his brother's reaction, "Its a nickname I gave your uncle when we were younger, I gave it to him because of his floppy ear," He pointed to the ear, but got his hand swatted away by his annoyed brother.
"Yeah and you havent used that name for years! I hoped you forgot about it!"
"I will never forget nicknames that I gave my baby brother," Bandit shook his head, still smiling.
Stripe let out a yelp when he was suddenly pulled into a tight hug from behind by Radley, who smothered him in pets and fake kisses, "awww, sweet baby brother Flops,"
"RADS," Stripe yelled as he squirmed. He kicked backwards..
"OH COOKIES" Radley let him go and doubled over.
Bluey and Bingo squealed and laughed at the interaction, while Bandit was also doubled over laughing.
The kids turned to Uncle Radley after he stood back up and asked, "Uncle Rad, do you have any other nicknames like Uncle Flops?"
Bandit laughed even harder, Radley snorted, and Stripe groaned, "Look what you've done mate, now my nieces are never calling me by my actual name,"
Radley nodded, "Yep, a lot actually. We were very creative when we were kids,"
Bandit brushed himself off, "Lets go to the kitchen table, something as long as this will need snacks," he turned and headed for the kitchen.
The kids cheered, Bingo pulled her dad's fur and asked, "Can we have booberries?"
Bandit nodded, "We can have blueberries,"
—
They all took their seats at the table and Bingo munched down on a bowl of blueberries.
Bandit laughed, "Dont eat too fast mate you'll finish before we're even halfway through," He put his paws together, "So lets start with the one and only, Flops,"
Stripe groaned and crossed his arms, "Dang it stop calling me that," only for the two brothers to say no in unison. He raised his arms, "okay fine then," he squinted and smirked at Bandit, "Bunger,"
Bandit and Radley gasped, the middle child exclaimed, "NO," Radley failed to hide his laughter behind his fist and burst out laughing.
Bingo tilted her head, "Whats that mean?"
Bandit opened his mouth, about to explain it, when he was cut off by his younger brother, who seemed to be waiting all his life to be the one teasing him, "You see kids, your dad was always a bit of a klutz when he was young. He would always call me clumsy whenever I accidentally spilled a drink and stuff despite being the most accident prone of us all. So your genius uncle rad started calling him Bunger to defend me. Bandit was being too much of a tease basically,"
Bluey rolled her eyes, "dad's always a tease,"
Calming down from his laughing fit, Radley spoke, "Thats right, especially to Flops," He pet Stripe's head, who grunted in response, "I was the dealer of justice in our family, mainly defending poor Flops from your dad,"
Stripe tolerated the head petting, "Thats why we call you mommy bear,"
Bluey chimed, "Oh yeah! Because polar bears are very protective of their cubs!"
Bandit rubbed Bluey's head, "Smart girl!" She giggled at the praise and closed her eyes, "Rad was always protective of Stripe when I teased him too far. But at times when Im the one being teased and bullied, he stepped up. Like a prince in a fairytale,"
"A handsome and very muscley prince to be exact,"
"Yeah sure," Both younger brothers rolled their eyes.
They stayed in silence for a while, Bandit occasionally snatched a blueberry from Bingo's bowl.
"Me and Stripe gave each other a lot of colour related nicknames," Radley spoke while staring at the ticking clock.
"Hmm, I remember calling you Sun because of the yellow in your fur and sometimes Sky because of your blue fur," Stripe smiled as he recalled on all the memories he had as a kid.
Bandit chuckled, "Mom always called us Blue, it didn't matter who it was, we were all Blue in her eyes," The other two brothers nodded.
"But Uncle Flops isnt blue!" Bluey spoke up, confused.
"Yep, she didnt care though. Remember fellas?" Bandit nudged his brothers with his elbow, "Whenever she called one of us by the name 'Blue', we all came running,"
Radley laughed, "Yeah, and she would get mad when we all appeared!"
Stripe straightened his back and put on a straight face, he put up a finger and wagged it as he imitated his mother, he spoke in a raspy voice "I called for Radley! Not Bandit, not Stripe!"
They broke into laughter at his impression, and Bluey and Bingo screamed in excitement, clearly enjoying their dad and uncles having a good time.
Radley suddenly perked up and clapped, "Oh! Remember calling Stripe Lavvy?"
"Where did that name come from again?"
"I think it was because a girl at our school said that you were Lavendar because you're purple. So I started calling you Lavvy for fun,"
Stripe laughed, "well jokes on you cause I actually like that name. That girl too, she was really nice,"
"I actually didnt want to call you that when you said that you liked it," Bandit piped up, "Buuut... it stuck, so I went with it,"
"Thats a nice name!" Bluey chirped, "Bingo, you're red, so I'll call you Reddy!" The two kids giggled at each other.
"And you're blue like this blueberry!" Bingo help up the blueberry she was about to eat, "so I'll call you Blueyyyy... oh.." Bingo was silent for a while.
Bluey snapped her head towards her dad, "dad why did you name me bluey?"
Bandit smiled, "lets say I wanted to name you something after people that were very special to me,"
His brothers didnt miss the glance that he shot their way.
