I thanked Mr. Lee before leaving his office. Pumunta rin agad ako sa park para tawagin si Theo, nagbabaka sakaling break time niya. I can’t wait to tell him the good news!

Another promotion, this is gonna be my big break kapag nakuha ko. This is like what I was planting a long time ago, aanihin ko na rin. I just need to win a publishing company.

“Theo!” I exclaimed when the call was answered. “Dude, great news!”

“Kate!” I was shocked when I heard Lorraine’s voice. “Kate, I’m sorry Theo swooned. We’re drinking.” She chuckled.

Matagal bago ako naka react. “Ah, Lorraine, can you wake him up? Where are you now?”

“I was try’na wake him up since you’re calling but he’s really conked out. I have no idea how to knock up his ass, Kate.”

Napatango ako. “Who are you drinking with? And, where are you?” Pag ulit ko.

“We’re at PJ’s, just a couple walk from our apartment. And we’re with Bridge and the others, but they’re home now. It’s just me and Theo left. Don’t worry, I won’t leave him. I’m calling my brother for hand,” she talked fast.

“Okay, thanks, Lorraine. I’ll call Theo later, take care. Bye.” Agad ko nang ibinaba ang tawag pagkapaalam niya. Hindi ako mapanatag. Kasi pareho silang lasing and Theo passed out. I don’t know what to think.

Bakit ba kasi siya nag lasing ng sobra? Kung may time pala siya, bakit hindi niya ako sinabihan?

I sigh. Napasapo ako sa noo nang maramdamang may umupo sa tabi ko. I looked up to see Cris as he hands me coffee.

“Congrats, Kate,” Cris said. “You’re almost in it.”

I smiled at him. “Thanks – double thanks.” I sipped on the cup of coffee.

He nodded. “You called your boyfriend?”

“Yeah,” I nodded.

“How did he react? Sure, he’s proud.”

I faked a smile. “He didn’t answer. I’ll just call again later.”

“Oh.” He gave me a confused look. “But you were talking to the phone.”

Napatingin ako sa kanya. “It was his friend,” mabagal kong tugon. “- who answered the call. She said Theo’s drunk.”

Makahulugan niya akong tiningnan. I almost roll my eyes. “She?”

“Yeah, and wag mong gawing big deal.”

“If you say so,” he said. “Nice, trust is rare nowadays.”

I doubt if I really trust Theo or maybe I’m just faking it. Because I spent the whole day thinking about him and Lorraine. Magkasama pa ba sila? Nakauwi na ba?

May ginawa ba silang mali? Naghalikan ba sila o ano?

I was so much freaking out pero hindi ko pnapakita kahit na kanino. I tried to be busy with work pero mas lalo akong nadidistract.

It was 7 pm when I decided to call Theo again. Baka gising na siya. I would want to talk to him.

The call was answered but it was still not Theo’s voice.

“Yes?”

My jaw dropped. The fuck it was still Lorraine’s voice?! It’s already 7 in the morning at them!

“Is that my phone?” I heard Theo’s voice, like he had just woken up.

I was pained and disappointed. I immediately ended the call when I heard him curse.
