Chapter~9
"Sorry bhaiya, wrong cab"
"It's 5:30" said Adi. After watching the movie we ate dinner and watched twilight.
"Um, yes. Haha. You have college tomorrow right? I mean today" I asked him.
"Yes, I should probably leave. The breakfast can happen another time." He answered.
"Yes, definitely." I smiled while my mind was begging me to stop him. Please don't go my heart yelled.
He just stood there looking at me. Probably expecting me to talk.
"I'll call a cab for you?" I asked him. I feel like slapping you. How difficult would it have been to ask him to stay? Fool! I ignored my mind and waited for his response.
"Yes, sure. Thanks" After that I called OLA cabs.
"Oh! He's roaming around here. He'll be here in a couple of minutes." I informed him after I spoke to a cab driver.
A couple of phone calls followed. The cab driver understood the location. And here he was honking his way to the customer.
Everything between us was so verbal. We said goodbyes. Except for the display of emotions. Why aren't we as reckless as we're supposed to be? Or at least why am I not? Why can't I simply ask him to stay for breakfast? Why doesn't he stay? Hearing the cab driver calling us he said he should get going.
We made our way out of the house. I simply followed him silently praying to God to make him stay.
We reached down the stairs and the cab driver walked towards us.
"Sir, let's go? It's been 5 minutes already."
Neither of us spoke. We stood there looking at each other.
"Do you even want to go?" The now visibly annoyed cab driver asked Adi.
We were still looking at each other ignoring the third human, the annoyed cab driver. Probably we stood there hoping that the other person wouldn't call it a day just yet.
We didn't shake hands. We definitely did not hug. We just stood there looking at each other leaving the cab driver startled!
Adi broke the eye contact and smiled.
Suddenly the silence broke.
"I don't think...." I cut him off now I knew he wanted to stay.
"Sorry bhaiya(brother), wrong cab" I told the annoyed cab driver.
"Wrong cab? What?" Adi asked me
"I don't know" I replied. Please God tell me he wanted to stay.
"I am staying for breakfast" he finally said what I wanted to hear.
"Exactly. Run"
The cab driver guessed it already. He moved towards us with a totally irritated face. Adi quickly took out some money from his pocket and kept it inside the cab. We ran up the stairs, into the house and shut the door. Locked it in all the possible ways to make sure nothing would deny us the sheer privilege of our breakfast together. (Or maybe more my mind said)
