Chapter One: Soul
I closed the door after saying bye the the rest of our group, and headed into the kitchen for a snack. Maka grabbed a book from her room and sat down on the couch. I made two cups of tea, and brought one to her.
She took a sip and put her book down. "Soul?" She said.
"What's wrong? Don't like the tea?" I teased her.
She shook her head. "I don't think I've told you yet, and I'm pretty sure no one knows..." She trailed off and looked down at the floor.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked her. What hadn't she told me?
"The fight with the Kishin..." She started.
"I was there Maka, of course I saw you throw that last punch." I chuckle and take a sip of tea.
She shook her head. "Not that, I did something, but I'm not sure how..."
"You mean the Kishin Hunter ability?"
"No."
I looked at her, and she seemed confused. Like something was bugging her, but she didn't know how to explain it.
"For a small part in the battle, I let go of my consciousness, so I was practically fighting while I was asleep, and I somehow awakened a weapon inside of me." Her face was all scrunched up, the usual sign that showed she was confused.
"You mean you turned into a weapon, even though your a meister?"
"Mm-hm." She nodded slowly.
I starred blankly. How much more amazing could my partner get? "Have you tried transforming since then?" I asked.
She quickly shook her head. "I don't even want to try.... Soul...I'm scared." She looked down again. "I don't want to hurt anyone..."
"Aw, c'mon! Cheer up tiny tits! We can discuss bad news later, for now, let's talk about the good news!" I sat down next to Maka and she looked like she was mad about me calling her names again.
Maka sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you?" She held her book in the air. "Don't call me that!" She yelled, "Maka chop!" and slammed the spine of the book down on my head, causing me to spill tea everywhere.
"God, Maka. That hurts ya' know." I rubbed my head and she crossed her arms.
"So what's the good news?" Maka asked.
"Summer break is in eight days! Me and Black Star wanted to take you and Tsubaki out shopping or something on Saturday so you could get new swimsuits." I said this as I headed to the kitchen and grabbed some paper towels to clean up the tea.
"I'll go!" Blair called from Maka's room.
"You're not invited!" I yelled back, and then laughed with Maka.
"That's not fair! Maka should be the one not going! She's the one who doesn't have any boobs!" Blair cried.
"Blair..." Maka picked up her book and storms into her room. "Maka.... CHOP!"
I heard the familiar sound of a scull being hit by the spine of a book, and I started wiping up the spilt tea. I couldn't help it, and started cracking up when I heard Blair rolling around saying, "ouchy, that hurt!"
Maka walked back out into the living room, book in hand. "That's two so far, anyone else want a try at pissing me off?" She said and placed her free hand, and the wrist of her full hand on her hips. "Guess not." She smirked and put the book down.
I cracked up again and tried my best to clean up the tea. Once it was pretty much cleaned up, I threw away the paper towels and heard a knock on the front door.
"Got it!" Maka called, and rushed to the door. She swung it open and immediately hid behind me. "Hide me please." She said.
"MAKA!" The red haired man at the door called out. "Where my little girl? Come see your daddy!" Spirit stepped inside.
"I didn't say you could come inside, Papa." Maka rolled her eyes. "Go away, leave me alone, why are you even here?"
"I heard you got another A on your last test, so I came by to congratulate you!" Spirit gushed and ran toward Maka.
I protectively put an arm out to stop Spirit from getting any closer to Maka. He stopped, and for a moment looked like a normal dad, then eyeballed me.
"You." He said disgusted. "You're the one influencing my little Maka's bad behavior. And look at this!" He pointed to my arm. "You're not dating my little girl, are you?"
I blushed and look at him. "So what if I am? What're you gonna do about it, huh?" I challenged.
"Soul..?" Maka looked at me from behind my shoulder.
"Just go with it." I whispered so only Maka could hear.
"Oh, no." Spirit disapproved. "I will not allow the likes of you to even lay a single finger on my precious little Maka."
"Too late for that." I growled at him, and snaked an arm around Maka's waist. Maka looked at me with a questioning look, and I replied with a look that said trust me, and just go with it.
"Maka, darling! Why don't you let go of this pretty boy here?" Spirit tried to say nicely.
Maka stood her ground and wrapped both arms around my neck. "No." She answered.
Spirit looked shocked. "Maka! Get your hands off him right this instant! That is not okay with me!"
"To hell with what's okay with you! So cheating on momma is okay, but not this?" Maka yelled.
"What if I do this?" I picked up Maka and set her on the counter, then put her leg around my waist. Maka and I both turned bright red. "What're you gonna do about this, huh?" I teased Spirit.
"How dare you even think about touching her like that! Get your hands off her!" He yelled.
"But Papa," Maka used her best little girl voice. "What if I like it?"
Spirits jaw dropped to the floor and his eyes were as big as his whole head. "You like what this boy is doing? You enjoy letting him touch you like that?" Spirit started walking toward us.
I put Maka's other leg around my waist and Spirit dropped to his knees. "Don't you even think about putting another hand on her." He growled.
"Oh, I'm thinking of putting a lot more than just one hand on her." I faked an evil grin and blushed like crazy. Maka looked down at me.
"Soul!" She whispered. "Stop it! That's enough messing with him, just tell him to leave already!" She hissed under her breath.
"Okay, okay, fine. Just one last thing." I whispered back.
"Not over my dead body!" Spirit charged at me and I jumped out of the way. "That's right! You get away from my Maka!"
"Bet ya' can't catch me!" I sneered and ran out the door. Of course, Spirit fell for my trick and followed me out.
I turned and bolted back inside, locking the door behind me so he couldn't get back inside. I put my back against the door and caught my breath.
"He's gonna get to be pissed at you for the rest of his life!" Maka yelled from the kitchen counter. "What were you thinking?"
"Relax, Maka. I got him out, that's what you wanted in the first place, right?" I started walking toward Maka's room.
"I guess, but still.... Where are you going?" She asked.
"I said 'one more thing,' didn't I?" I smirked and picked up her little pink cell phone off her dresser.
"What do you need that for?" Maka looked really confused and hopped off the counter. I flipped the phone open and scrolled down to Spirit's contact.
"You just wait, and see." I pressed the message button and began typing.
"Soul..?" Maka walked over to me. "Who are you texting?"
"And.... Send!" I snapped the phone closed and started cracking up. "He's gonna hate both of us now!" I laughed.
"What did you tell him?" Maka snatched the phone from my hands. She scrolled to the message I sent and read it aloud. "Oh yeah, Papa, I forgot to tell you.... I'm pregnant..." Maka blushed and looked at me. "Soul..."
I doubled over laughing and didn't see Maka pick up a book off her shelf. "Maka.... CHOP!" She slammed the book down on my face.
"Ow! Damn it Maka! Why can't you take a joke?" I growled.
"I can take a joke, but he certainly can't! Do you know how much trouble we'll be in if he tells someone!" Maka screamed. "Ugh!" She threw herself down in her bed.
"Okay, I'm sorry. You don't need to freak out!" I yelled at her.
"Why are you yelling at me? What did I do?" Maka shouted.
"Why are you yelling at me?" I yelled back. "I said I was sorry!"
"Just get out and leave me alone! I don't want to talk to you!" Maka screamed at me and I could see tears in the corners of her eyes.
"Maka.... I'm sorry-"
"Get out!"
"Maka, please-"
"Get out!"
"Maka-"
"Leave me alone!" Maka screeched and tears role down her cheeks.
I stood up and slowly walked out the door. "I'm sorry." I said quietly before closing Maka's door behind me.
