3 - Being a Vigilante Can be Boring

Ten o'clock.

Feet clattered on the rooftops.

The sound of beating wings filled the air; followed by a mechanical whirring noise.

There was an occasional sound that could only be described as the air folding into itself.

The moon was hidden behind the clouds.

This is when the vigilantes thrived.

Tommy attempted to land on the rooftop and ultimately failed. His wing hit one of the poles as he was touching down, causing him to stumble and fall the remaining two feet to the ground. That was one thing about wings...They always got in the way.

"You alright?" Tubbo asked, hovering above him. Well, not Tubbo. Atomic. Atomic was a vigilante, Tubbo was an IT guy.

Tommy huffed. "Yeah, 'm fine."

Atomic dropped to the ground less painfully than Tommy had... Lucky bastard.

Atomic had been fed up with Tommy and Endgame being able to get wherever they wanted quickly(Endgame's teleportation and Tommy's wings), so he had invented a cool flying thingy.

It was modeled after bee's wings and he wore it on his back sort of like a backpack. There were two straps appatched to it that buckled around his chest and waist that connected to a box-ish looking thing on his back that held an engine. The wings also came out of the box.

Tommy didn't really understand it...Something about the engine making the wings move so fast they held his weight in the air...? Whatever. Atomic was the tech guy, not him.

The air folded as purple particles formed and Ranboo – Well, Endgame – appeared. He placed a hand on Atomic's head to steady himself, much to the chagrin of the shorter ram hybrid. "So, just normal patrols tonight?" He asked once he had his balance back.

"That's the plan," Atomic affirmed with a slight nod. "And remember – If you see Dream or Sapnap, do not engage with them. It's basically a suicide mission." He looked at Tommy for that. What! Tommy would never try to fight Dream! He could probably take Sapnap, though-

"Icarus. No."

"What!" Tommy said loudly, holding his hands up in the air as a gesture of surrender. "I wasn't doing anything!"

Atomic put his hands on his hips and raised an eyebrow at Tommy. "You better not."

Tommy huffed as Atomic stepped back. "How about we meet back here after an hour or two?" Endgame suggested, cracking his horrifically long fingers unconsciously.

Atomic and Tommy made eye contact. "Yeah, sure." "Fine with me."

As both Atomic and Endgame started to turn away, Tommy looked over their vigilante suits again. They were newer versions of the old, junky ones they had all once donned.

Atomic wore pale blue overalls that have nuclear symbols painted on the buttons. The overalls had big pockets for him to store his various explosives and gadget things. He also had two arm guards on each arm that were able to shield him and others from his explosions. He usually wore a bright yellow rain jacket looking thing under the overalls. He had found a gas mask one time and taken the bottom half of it to use for his vigilante outfit. It was black but had these yellow spikes on it...It looked cool, in Tommy's opinion.

Endgame's was pretty monochrome, but fit his theme. He donned a split dyed black and white mask, a black poncho over his shoulders, a tight white top and black and white checkered loose pants. Stuff you can find in a store, sure, but they went together okay. He also had these cool-looking sci-fi esque goggles that made his eyes look purple instead of one red and the other green. He also had one white glove and one black glove. Well, he stuck to his theme.

Tommy's was cool. Well, no, it wasn't Tommy's. It was Icarus's. Icarus wore a red balaclava that covered his mouth and nose. Some of his gold hair poked out from under it, though. He had a long-sleeved white hoodie with a red hood and red sleeves. His pants were jeans he'd dyed white and they had various large rips and tears. Sure, his was simple, but it was cool.

They also all had their own fighting styles. Atomic had these cool nuke-things that looked like bees...They sort of flew through the air before attatching to something and exploding. He also had throwable explosives too, of course.

Endgame relied on the element of surprise...He was really fucking tall, after all. Sometime's he'd just kick his enemies to the ground and sometimes he'd have to use his hands. He wasn't big into weapons, but he did have a wooden staff painted black with white tips.

Icarus...Well, he had a gun. A dart gun. It worked fine! He filled the darts with ink or oil or water or whatever liquidy thing he could find. it helped them fly better...and it was funny to watch the heroes and criminals freak out when they got hit.

Tommy turned and opened his wings to jump into the sky. As he did so he looked back. There were only purple particles where Endgame had been and Atomic was flying away. He turned back and begun flying low to the rooftops.

The night was boring, as usual. About thirty minutes in, however, he was resting on a rooftop. He looked over when he heard wings and across the street, on top of another building, was a green winged girl... She looked familiar.

Wait, she was the one from the café!

Huh.

He watched as he sat there, looking slightly disappointed. Hie eyes flicked upwards just as a figure appeared on the rooftop above her... Oh, shit, that was Somnus. He froze and crouched a bit lower on the rooftop. He was behind an electrical box, so he didn't expect to be seen...

Somnus landed on the rooftop behind the girl. She whipped around. Tommy froze. Somnus wasn't going to...do anything...was he? He was a hero. He watched as Somnus spoke for a second. Barely a second after his mouth shut, Tommy could vaguely hear a call from the upper rooftops. Somnus twisted his head to look and levitated up to the building.

The Avian girl, whatever her name is, took this as an opportunity to 'escape'. She srooped off of the roof and flew away. Somnus was watching the whole time. Tommy shivered. Somnus was creepy as fuck...

Once Somnus had turned away, Tommy got the hell out of there.

May as well head back to the rendezvouz point...No harm in being early...

He flew in silence, thinking about that...strange...thing he'd witnessed. Why the hell would Somnus approach a civillian, especially when he was on patrol? It was a bit too much for him to wrap his head around so he just focused on flying.

He nearly missed the designated rooftop and made a less-than-dignified landing, tripping over his own boots in an attempt to land first try. He sat down on the roof and leaned against an electrical breaker, waiting for Atomic and Endgame.

A few minutes later, footsteps clattered on the rooftop next to the one he was on. He looked over; maybe Atomic or Endgame was back early?

When the figures came into view, he stopped, recognizing them. They also seemed to notice him.

Inferno and Waterfall.

They were a vigilante duo and had been for as long as Tommy could remember. They were, in fact, the second ever fire-water duo team. Second after the supervillain team Firefly and Koi(Who had been killed eleven years prior).

They stared at each other and Inferno looked like he was about to say something before Waterfall kicked him. Tommy didn't make a move to say anything, either. It was rare that vigilantes of different groups crossed paths, but when it happened, a fight usually broke out.

Tommy stayed where he was as Waterfall and Inferno took a last glance at him before moving to another rooftop. Tommy cautiously watched them until they were out of sight.

Primes, he had so much to tell Endgame and Atomic.
