Voice

The feeling...she can't let go of the feeling. She doesn't know how to and it's driving her crazy. This voice, - the very familiar voice of one certain, shaggy, brown haired guy - kept repeating words and lines over and over and over again.

At first, she didn't mind hearing his voice before bed. Before she would fall asleep but, it's been two hours since they last saw each other and it's also been two hours since she should've gone to bed.

Not to mention, two hours of Hiccup's voice in her head that hadn't let her go to sleep.

Great.

She really didn't mind but she also wanted to get at least a few hours of sleep before dealing with the day.

Astrid sighed quietly and shifted so she laid on her stomach instead of her side. Her eyes landed on the door and she just looked at it for what seemed liked eternity to a person who was just looking at her.

For Astrid, thoughts were running all around in her head.

Should she go for a walk to clear her head? Should she go to him to talk about it? Did he feel the same? What would happen if she did? What if she woke him up? She really didn't want to do that.

But, she couldn't stop thinking about him either...

And, they way he kissed her.

A smile formed on her lips and she blushed slightly.

So long...it had been so song since they last kissed. They had been on Dragon's Edge for at least half a year, a year and last time they ever were so close before must've been years before.

When they had the Thawfest on Berk.

Suddenly, Astrid closed her eyes and exhaled before opening her eyes and slowly slipping out of bed.

Her bare feet met the cold tree and a shiver ran up her legs, up her spine, through her arms and then, slowly creeping up her neck, raising every single hair on her head.

She quietly stood up, not to awake Heather.

Looking at the dark haired girl, she smiled.

Heather was probably right. Heck, she was right. She hadn't been right if he hadn't kissed her.

They were perfect for each other. At least, that's what she thought. He complimented her in every possible way, making her feel like she was soaring up in the clouds without a dragon.

She couldn't have been more thankful for having him by her side.

No matter how much he might complain, he was perfect. In her eyes, he was perfect.

Something boosted her confidence and her energy level went from low to extremely high in a second.

She slowly walked towards the door, - as quietly as she possibly could, - and opened it, slipping out and closing it behind her.

She slowly walked to the edge of the whole foundation on what her hut was built on, and looked down, feeling somewhat refreshed and awake.

Hopefully, Hiccup was up too.

The blonde girl turned her head over to the guys hut and she saw nothing. Well, almost nothing. A faint light was seeping out from underneath the door and she furrowed her brows.

Was he up or was it the fire burning to keep the hut warm?

Astrid closed her eyes and took a deep breath, holding it in for a while before letting it out.

She slowly started to walk to the bridge between her and Hiccup's hut. However, when she finally got over to his hut, she hesitated. Not because she was scared of facing him, but because that one question still was roaming around in her head.

Was he asleep or not?

She didn't want to feel guilty for waking him up if she knocked on his door and he was asleep.

However, when she heard papers shuffling inside, she knocked on the door, stepping back, still a little hesitant.

"Come in," She heard his tired voice and she opened the door, stepping inside and closing it after her.

She rather quickly noticed him sitting at his desk, pencil in his hand and paper spewed out across the table and the floor around him.

"Hiccup?" She asked, her voice quiet and soft. Said young man turned his head towards her and he put on a smile, rubbing one of his eyes.

"Astrid? What are you doing here? Why are you up? It's at least an hour passed midnight," He said, his eyes droopy and tired.

She walked closer to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, looking at him. "I came to talk to you but..." She paused and looked at all the papers on the floor. "I'm gonna help you."

Hiccup hummed, back on working with...something.

Astrid pulled her hand away from his shoulder and she crouched down, starting to pick up all the papers.

Hiccup was going to stop her but he stopped himself, looking down at her with a small smile.

After getting all the papers, she stood up straight and placed them in a nice pile in the desk. "Hiccup," She started, reaching for the pencil in his hand. "What?"

She looked at him and slowly sat down on the bench beside him. He scooted over to give her some space.

Looking down at her hands, she thought about what words to use.

Hiccup looked at her and slowly lifted his hand, placing it on hers. The blonde took his hand between hers, caressing it. "I've been thinking..."

"Hmm?"

"I've been thinking a lot about us in the last couple of hours. If you don't agree with me, then that's fine. I'm just...I've been thinking about what we've been through before and how much we've been there for each other, standing up for the other, protecting each other and just...being us. When I got blind, you were there. I know you were just as scared as I was but you didn't show it and...I don't know what to say...thank you, Hiccup. There's so many things I've been thinking about and...and-"

She felt something warm against her cheek and she stopped talking.

Hiccup pulled backs dyer placing his lips onto hers, smiling. "You're rambling," He said, simply and pulled his hand away from hers, brushing a piece of hair away from her eyes.

"Sorry...I just have so many mixed emotions right know," Astrid said quietly and looked at him.

Hiccup smiled and leaned in, pressing his lips against her forehead. Astrid closed her eyes and leaned into him when she felt his arm around her back.

Pulling back, he stayed there, holding her. "Calm down and tell me what you wanted to tell me from the first place."

Astrid took a deep breath before exhaling and smiling.

"Okay. Well...the thing is...I can't sleep. I keep hearing your voice in my head, saying a few of those lines you said to me when we were in the forest that day. The, "There will always be a Hiccup and Astrid. Always," and, "You and I have been through everything together..." and... "It had to be just perfect..." I just can't stop thinking about those. No matter how hard I try just to make myself go to bed, I can't."

Hiccup smiled and pulled back, pulling at her. "You know I meant all of that right. I will always be with you, Astrid. No matter what happens, we'll go through it together. We've been through everything together. That's true. Ever since you met Toothless, we've been doing almost everything together. And, yes...it had to be just perfect. Because, I guess I was scared of screwing up so bad that you'll hate me for the rest of your life..." Hiccup said softly, a small smile on his lips and his fingers softly grazing her jaw.

His fingers trailed up her jaw and then, his hand cupped her cheek. She leaned into his warm touch before looking straight into his eyes.

"I could never hate you. No matter what you do. I might be angry at you but I could never hate you," She whispered.

Hiccup smiled, Thank you, Astrid," He whispered. "No problem," She whispered back with a small smile.

Hiccup leaned closer, his hand trailing down the side of her neck before settling down at the back of her neck.

Their eyes drifted shut and now, only their senses led the way.

The side of her nose brushed against his before her lips touched his. She gripped the leather strap on his armor and pulled him in swiftly, smiling.

Boy, was she glad she didn't step in bed that night and not get any rest. She slept soundly throughout the rest of the night.

In Hiccup's arms.
