Slitherwing

(A/N: Summary: Astrid punches the venomous Slitherwing to save Stormfly, poising herself. They get Hiccup who breaks down, not knowing if his girl will survive or not. Changed scenes and script. Obviously. Enjoy 1.6K words of pure Hiccstrid fluff.)

"I hope you can make two doses," Astrid forced out before she collapsed on the ground in front of Fishlegs and the twins. "Astrid! Astrid, talk to me! Get her some water!" Fishlegs screamed at the blonde lying limp on the ground and then at the twins.

The two set off into a run before stopping when Fishlegs screamed at them again. "Get Hiccup! Now!"

The two looked at each other before setting off into a run to get her some water and Hiccup.

They found a river close by and made sure to get a good amount of water. "Guys? What's going on? Why the hurry?" Hiccup asked from behind them and they jumped. "Hiccup! I-we-"

Ruffnut interrupted her brother. "Stormfly got poisoned by the Slitherwing and Astrid ran right up to it, punching it and she poisoned herself to hopefully be able to save Stormfly," Ruffnut said in a hurry and breathed deeply after.

"What!? Where is she!?" Hiccup yelled, panicking too. Tuffnut pointed to the direction right behind him and when they blinked, Hiccup had already left them behind in the dust.

It wasn't a far run and before he knew it, he saw her lying on the ground, terrifyingly green and pale. He dropped to his knees beside her and placed his left hand under her head while his right one landed on her stomach where he felt her breathe slowly.

"Hiccup! There you are!" Fishlegs said once he noticed him. "Yeah! Where'd the antidote?" He asked, looking at him, his arms shaking.

"Right here. There's not much though," Fishlegs said and handed Hiccup a small cup of some green, liquid gel like thin that was similar to the Buffalord's saliva.

He lifted her head slowly and put the cup in her mouth, pouring the little antidote that was in there.

"Are you sure this is enough?" Hiccup asked and looked at Astrid before looking at Stormfly. "I think it is but we have to wait and see," Fishlegs said as he poured the antidote I to Stormfly's mouth who groaned.

"It's gonna be okay, Stormfly. Nothing's going to happen to you," Hiccup said and reached over to place his hand on Stormfly's wing before he looked over at Astrid. "Neither of you."

"How's she doing?" Ruffnut asked as they walked up with a bucket of water. "We'll have to wait to see if the antidote will be working or not."

"Oh, okay."

Hiccup sniffled once and they looked at him. "Is Hiccup...crying?" Ruffnut asked. "He is. What do we do?" Tuffnut asked.

"Can...can I be alone with her?" Hiccup asked and blinked, blinking away the tears. "Sure. Come on, guys," Fishlegs said after checking on Stormfly one last time.

After they walked away, he put his right hand around her, on her side and he pulled her onto his lap, resting her head against his shoulder.

"Don't give up on me, Astrid. I need you. Don't you dare leaving me," He said, his voice fading into a whisper. "I need you, Astrid. I can't do this without you..." He paused and looked at the bucket of water with a rag on the side. He grabbed it and dipped the rag into the water, squeezing it out with one hand.

He pulled the cold, damp rag over her forehead, cheeks, chin and lastly, carefully over her nose, mouth and eyes.

He threw the rag into the bucket.

"M'lady, don't give up. I need you. I need us," He whispered against her cheek, his forehead leaned against her temple. "The betrothal gift...I promised eternity to you and I'll always keep it. You have to be okay," Hiccup continued, pleading for her to wake up.

"Please, don't give up," He said, tears making their way down his cheeks. "I can't live without you, Astrid," He cried and buried his face in her chest, his right arm over her stomach and around her back. His left arm wrapped around her neck and shoulder, holding onto her for dear life.

He heard her slow but steady heartbeat in his ear and he exhaled, crying as tears wetted her shirt.

"Please, wake up. I can't loose you," he whispered before lifting his head and looking at her beautiful face.

Her lips were a beautiful shade of skin tone pink, her eyelashes were long and her bangs hung into her eyes.

And, even though she was sick and was hopefully getting better, she had never looked better to him.

She was always a goddess to him and she would always be.

"I...I love you," He whispered against her cheek before pressing his lips to the corner of her mouth, kissing her. He then buried his face into her chest again, just wanting to have her close and all he wanted was for her to be okay.

A few minutes must have passed for all he remembered was the breeze blowing over them, the leaves rustling and her beating heart.

Did he hear wrong? Had it really quickened or was it just his imagination? Oh, he hoped for the first one. However, he stayed and didn't pull away.

A hand suddenly landed on in his hair and he jumped. Only one person had that kind of touch and it was his lady. He lifted his head slowly from her chest and he was met with drowsy but sparkling blue eyes full of love.

"Astrid," He breathed out, all of the air disappearing from his lungs. "Hey," She whispered, closing her eyes and smiling. Hiccup sat up straight and hugged her tightly, his right arm around her waist and his left arm around her shoulders, his hand disappearing in under her braid.

"You're okay," He said in disbelief, burying his face into her neck. "Yeah. I'm fine," She said and wrapped her arms around his back and waist.

Hiccup pulled back and looked at her. "Don't you dare doing that. Ever again. You scared me. I thought I'd lost you for good," He said, his voice stern. Astrid smiled. "I can't promise anything. We're Vikings, Hiccup. It's an-"

"I know. It's an occupational hazard," He interrupted her. She smiled at him and pressed her lips against his for a small peck but Hiccup kissed her back and they lingered a few seconds.

"Ew. Do you guys have to do that right now?" Snotlout broke in. "You got a problem with that?" Astrid shot back at him, still sitting on Hiccup's lap with her arms around his neck.

"Yes. I have a very big problem with that."

"You better get used to it. Maybe we'll do it more."

"Ew! No! Get you guys' PDA out of my life and get a room!" Snotlout said. Astrid smirked at him. "Maybe we will."

"Wait, what?" Hiccup asked. She laughed at him. "Dork."

"Uh, Astrid," Fishlegs started. "What?" She asked him, a little annoyed. "Stormfly didn't get poisoned," He said.

Hiccup helped Astrid get out of his lap and he pulled her up. "Then, what happened?" She asked as she walked over to her dragon, sitting down by her head.

"I think she's grieving," Hiccup cut in. "That's the only logical explanation. If Stormfly didn't get poisoned, then she must be grieving. Garff saved us from the Slitherwings. He drove them away. We have to thank him for that."

"You're right," She said and stroke the Nadder's jaw. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Stormfly," Astrid said and hugged her.

"I'm glad you're alright, M'lady," Hiccup said as he walked up to her. They stood on the ledge to Hiccup's hut. "Yeah. Thank you. For everything," She said and leaned into him. Hiccup wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer.

"I'd take you on a flight right now but Toothless is dead tired," Hiccup said softly. "It's fine, Hiccup. Really. Just being here is more than enough," She said softly, turning towards him.

Hiccup placed his hands on her waist, just on the edge of her skirt. Her hands landed on his chest and she gazed into his eyes. "I'm lucky to have you," She whispered to him and he smiled.

"And I'm more than lucky to have you," Hiccup whispered back and pulled her in, wrapping his arms around her. She did the same.

"And, Hiccup?"

"Yes?"

"I love you too."

He pulled back and looked at her. "You heard me?" He asked. "Yeah. I heard you and I'm glad you feel the same. At least it's not one sided."

"Are you kidding me?" Hiccup blurred out. "I've loved you since we were kids. Since our parents first introduced us to each other," He said and leaned in to press a small kiss to her cheek. "I remember that. I thought you were so weird and cute at the same time. Now, look at you."

Astrid pulled back and gestured to him.

"You just gestured to all of me," He deadpanned. Astrid laughed. "Exactly. Puberty actually went right," She said and took his hand.

"Remember what our parents said?" She asked and looked at him. "No...?"

"My mom and dad and your dad said that we're gonna be wed someday. Predicted the future, didn't they?" Astrid joked.

"Maybe they did. But I'm glad they did. And I'm glad it was you," Hiccup said and pulled her against him using the hand he held and wrapped his arms around her. She laid her head on his collarbone and he rested his head on top of hers.

"I...I love you."

"I love you too, M'lady."

(A/N: The new season is amazing. So many Hiccstrid interactions. And we got a forehead kiss. I loved that.
