Project
The sun was slowly setting on the horizon, casting it's orange light over Dragon's Edge. Some Night Terrors were chirping off at a distance, probably sitting in their respective watchtowers, waiting for enemies to appear.
Astrid sighed with a small smile and looked over at the setting sun as she walked over the bridge between hers and Hiccup's hut.
She hadn't seen him since a few hours before the sun had started to set. It would be dinner soon and she wanted to check on him and make sure he would come.
She knocked before pulling the hatch on his door, opening it. She saw him jump before turning his head towards the door. "Hey there," She said softly and walked inside, closing the door behind her.
Hiccup settled down and greeted her with a smile. "Hey, Astrid," He turned back to his things, not even asking her why she was there.
She felt a slight pang in her chest but she ignored it and walked up to him, softly placing her hands on his shoulder blades and trailing them upwards, letting them rest in her shoulders.
"Are you okay?" She asked, leaning against him slightly. "Yeah. I'm fine," He said in a monotone voice.
Another pang.
She sighed and leaned down, pressing her lips against his head, kissing his hair behind his ear before trailing downwards, kissing the skin under his ear and then pressing small kisses against his jaw.
That was the first time she did something like that but Hiccup didn't even react. She pulled away and looked at him. "Okay, seriously, what is going on?" Astrid asked with a slightly irritated voice. "I keep kissing you and trying to make you notice me but nothing. What's going on? Something wrong?"
Hiccup sighed and turned to look at her. "No, I just have a lot going on right now. With Viggo and all that," He confessed and immediately felt a weight lifting off of his shoulders.
"Listen, Hiccup. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere so spill the beans before I get mad at you," Astrid said with a smile and sat down beside him in the bench.
Hiccup's has immediately wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer. "I'm just trying to figure out how we're going to defeat him and that Krogan guy. That's all," He confessed, leaning towards her slightly.
"I'm sorry for ignoring you, M'lady," He whispered and pressed a kiss to her temple, cheek, jaw, corner of her mouth and then her lips.
"Mmhh," She hummed and smiled, wrapping an arm around his back and placing her hand on his neck, pulling him against her.
This kiss was just like everyone else but at the same time, it wasn't because each and everyone of their kisses were different.
Different location, different reason...she didn't mind though.
Hiccup pulled back with a sigh and rested his forehead against hers, just holding her there and never wanting to let her go.
Astrid hummed and pulled back. "It's dinner soon, you coming?" She asked and looked at him, gazing into his eyes and occasionally trailing lines between his freckles.
"Yeah, I'll come," He said and smiled. Astrid smiled too and leaned in, pressing her lips to the small scar on his chin, just above the tree freckles.
After pulling back, he pulled her against him and hugged her, wanting to stay like that forever.
He loved her from the bottom of his heart and even if they hadn't confessed with those three words yet, both of them knew it and that's what made them so special.
Because actions sometimes means more than words do.
