Naps Under The Open Sky
(A/N: I feel like I'm getting very creative with my titles.)
He felt his eyelids droop and his vision go blurry as Toothless slowly flew through the sky, carrying his best friend and Astrid.
The evening was calm, no danger in sight since there hadn't been anything for days and it was soothing. More so for Hiccup than the others.
He had been the one to stay up nights, making plans, weapons and figuring out ways to defeat Viggo and Krogan.
Astrid saw through his lies when he told her that he was fine. The bags under his eyes were a sign of him not sleeping much and it made him look older than what he really was.
Astrid sighed. She wished he would finally catch a rest. The day they had flown away to find that plant was the best sleep they had gotten, - in weeks.
Hiccup had pulled her in before they went on their Moonlit Flight and started humming an old childhood song that used to go around in the village when they were smaller.
Astrid had laughed at him when he had taken her hand and twirled her around, pressing his chest to her back and wrapping his arm around her waist.
She'll never forget that evening. How he held her and kissed the side of her head. How he danced with her and how he loved her that night. The way he held her before them falling asleep, - she'll never forget anything from that night.
Hiccup swayed in front of her and she wrapped her arms around his chest rather than around his waist. "Hiccup...are you okay?" She asked slowly, waiting for a reply.
It took him a few moment before he looked back and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine," He said, his eyes droopy.
Astrid looked at him before looking down below them. They were flying over a clearing slowly. "Toothless," she started and waited for the dragon to grumble.
The Night Fury gave out a deep grumble and slightly turned his head to look back at them. "Can you land in that clearing under us?" She asked and Toothless nodded, slowly starting to descend with a small turn.
Once down in the ground, Hiccup almost fell off the back of the dragon and into the ground. "Why did we land, Astrid?" Hiccup asked softly, looking around.
The blonde looked at her lover and walked up to him, taking his hand. "You're too tired to be flying like that. I had to hold you so you wouldn't slip off and fall to your death," She said softly and started to lead him towards a three, away from the sun.
Toothless curled up beside the three and gestured for them to use him as a support. Astrid smiled and sat down at Toothless' stomach.
Hiccup did the same and leaned his head on her shoulder. "You really need to get some sleep, babe," She whispered to him and he nodded, to tired to argue with her.
They weren't far from the Club House but the others would start looking for them. Astrid whistled and waited. Not long after that, a turquoise-ish Terrible Terror showed up behind the three and walked up to Astrid. She pulled out a paper and a pen, writing a not to the others where they were and when they'd probably be back.
She sent the dragon away with the letter before turning her attention back to her betrothed.
Hiccup was about to doze off when she moved and removed her skirt, - the idea of it was for him to be able to use her lap as a pillow.
Hiccup gladly scooted down after a peck in the lips but he moved between her legs and laid his head on her stomach, his arms around her back, resting on the ground.
Astrid's heart skipped a beat when he took her hand lazily and kissed it, holding it in his hand as he dozed off.
She bit her lip.
They hadn't said the three words yet because they were waiting for the right moment and Astrid wanted to say it now but she felt as though this still wasn't the perfect moment.
Maybe she just had high expectations on how that would go.
Hiccup slowly dozed off with a smile on his lips.
Astrid placed her left hand on his back and ran it up and down the smooth leather, knowing it would sloth him a little. Hiccup's hand went limp which meant he had fallen asleep and she pulled her other hand away from him, placing it on his shoulder.
She trailed her hands from shoulder to as far as she could reach on his back before having it move.
Astrid smiled.
She wouldn't mind having this every day for the rest of her life. She knew she loved him and she knew she wanted to spend the ray of her days with him, - betrothed.
She thought of that word. Engaged. To be married.
She really couldn't wait.
She wanted to wake up next to that big auburn mop on his head. She wanted to wake up to his hands laying around her waist and his head in her chest. She wanted him to have a ring on his finger that reminded her that he had actually married her.
Hiccup moved slightly and wrapped his arm around her back, letting it rest with the other as he sighed in his sleep.
Astrid smiled softly and let her left hand lay on his shoulder blade while her right hand combed through his hair. She brushed his bangs away and they revealed those freckles she loved so much.
He looked so peaceful and content. She hadn't seen him like this in a long time be she could really get used to him being like this.
Peaceful.
"I love you," slipped from her lips and she couldn't help but smile. Astrid knew right then and there that it was right when she said that.
She did love him.
Astrid kept her hand in his hair, brushing away his bangs and strands of hair so she could see him better.
At some point, she must've dozed off too.

Hiccup's eyes cracked open slowly and he looked around, events from earlier coming back to him and looked up, seeing his lady in all her beauty, sleep.
Hiccup moved and her hands fell from his head. He paused before moving again, getting up on his arms and knees.
Nearing her, he leaned closer and pressed his lips to her cheek, his left hand flying up to her collar and neck.
Astrid stirred.
"Good afternoon, M'lady," Hiccup whispered out in a husky voice before continuing pressing kisses in her cheeks.
Astrid smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck. Hiccup sat down on his shins and he pulled her with him.
Astrid smiled and pulled away an arm, letting her fingers trail over his skin. She looked down at his lips before gazing into his eyes.
Hiccup smiled at her and she kissed him, more passionate than ever before.
Their lips moved against each other in sync and her hands grabbed his hair and leather armor.
Hiccup tightened his grep around her waist and pulled her flush against him, no space between them.
Hiccup pulled away and looked at her. "I love you, Astrid," He said and she smiled, kissing him twice before pulling away. "I love you too."
Hiccup sighed in relief before pulling her against him again, pressing a kiss to her lips.
A few moments later- "GUYS! SERIOUSLY?" Snotlout yelled from atop of Hookfang.
The two pulled away before looking at each other and starting to laugh. Astrid stood up and looked at him. "Mind you, snotty, this is what love looks like. I'm so sorry you've never felt it before," She said and he put his arms up.
"Fine! I'm leaving you two here," He started and turned around on Hookfang before looking back at Hiccup.
"I wonder what I'm doing to tell your father. Maybe I'll say that you're having a good time with Astrid," Before flying away.
"WHAT?!" Hiccup yelled before looking at Astrid. The two ran up to Toothless who was ready to race.
Getting on, Astrid wrapped her arms around his waist and Toothless jumped into the air, beating his wings to race Hookfang to the Club House.
(A/N: I'm so bad at these stories. Bleh.
Also, it's 5:20 AM and I've been up since 2:37 AM (I go to bed at around 10-11 PM, wake up in the middle of the night, stay up for hours and then go back to sleep, it's so irritating.))
