Hold Things Together
(A/N: After Hiccup goes to clear his mind, Astrid walks into his hut and Heather finds her there and they talk. Be prepared. This is almost 2K words.)
Astrid walked up to him and placed her hands on his shoulders, her left hand, - the one that's hidden from the others - caressed his cheek.
"I'll hold things together while you're gone. Take your time..." She said and looked at him. If only she could kiss him right now. He needed the support and all she wished was for everything to be over so he wouldn't have to be so bothered, stressed and as sleep deprived as he was.
Hiccup smiled and looked at her, raising his hand and placing it on top of hers, - the hand she had on his cheek.
"I'll be back soon," He whispered to her, only loud enough for her to hear. "I know. I'll be here..."
Then, he walked away, getting into Toothless' back and looking at her. "I love you," He mouthed to her and she blocked slightly, mouthing it back.
He smiled before becoming airborne and flying away.
Astrid watched them go. Her expression had saddened. He was still so young. All of this responsibility for such a young man and for him to deal with all of it...she didn't know how he managed but she wanted to be there for him. Support him and comfort him, being his best friend, the only person he can be himself with and...most of all, she was his girlfriend. He could believe in her.
Trust in her.
"I...I have something to do. Fishlegs, you're in charge," Astrid said slowly and then, she walked out of the Club House.
Snotlout grunted and sat down onto the floor, obviously grumpy.
Heather looked at the blind girl disappearing out of the Club House and looked back at Dagur before looking away.

Astrid sat down onto the bed.
Hiccup's bed.
The blanket that he slept with laid across her lap and she was holding it in her hand, her nose buried into the fabric.
It smelled like him.
Forge, smoke, fresh air, trees and sweat.
But, she loved it. It was so...him. She loves everything about him. The way takes responsibility for everything and for trying to make things better. The way he does things just blows his mind.
How can a Viking be so...amazing? He took down the Red Death years ago, proving to the village and to her that they were wrong about everything.
He proved to them that he was more then what he looked like. He proved that he wasn't what his name meant.
No. He might be named Hiccup but he's so much more then that. He's not just...Hiccup. He's a leader. A born leader. He's an amazing, caring, smart, funny young man who tries to do everything to make everyone feel happy.
Even if everything breaks him down, he still does everything to make things better.
He's done so many amazing things. Most of which many people don't know about. And, those things, he's done to her.
Ever since she found out about Toothless, her life has changed. Not only because he changed the way she thought and saw the world, but how he had made her feel.
After she found out about Toothless, she clearly remembers how she wanted to run home and tell Stoick everything. But, they "kidnapped" her and that way the best thing she had ever been through.
What would've happened if she'd ran and told Stoick about Hiccup and Toothless. They would probably still be at war with dragons and Hiccup wouldn't surely fled.
She couldn't imagine a life without him. He was her everything. The only person who understood her without her having to say anything.
They had been best friends ever since the crazy flight one special black dragon had took them on after they "kidnapped" her.
But, now...things had changed.
They were a couple.
She stood by his side no matter what and he did the same-
"Astrid?" Heathers voice interrupted her mid thought and she looked up, pulling the blanket away from her face. "Up here, Heather..."
She heard footsteps come up the stairs and she inhaled. "What are you doing up here? Hiccup's gonna be back soon..." Astrid looked up and smiled slightly before looking down at the blanket again.
"Astrid? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
Her voice cracked at the end and Heather sat down next to her. "Okay, tell me what it is. It's Hiccup...isn't it?"
Astrid looked at her before looking down again. "So it is about him. What is it with him? Wait..." She trailed off, starting to smile.
"Are you guys finally together?"
Astrid smiled and blushed slightly. Heather bursted out laughing and threw her arms around the blonde sitting beside her. "Well, it was about time. What took you guys so long?" She asked and pulled away later.
"I don't know..." Astrid begun and trailed off. "Hey, are you okay?" Heather asked and looked at her.
"Nothing it's just...ugh, it's not right. This is not right. I feel sorry for him. He shouldn't go through this. He doesn't deserve it. All this pressure that's put into his shoulders...he shouldn't have to go through this. He's too young and he's had so many bad things happening to him when we were younger. Him loosing his foot, getting struck by lightning, getting hurt so many times over and over and over again. And, we get out here and I...it never stops. I don't want him to go through this anymore. He needs to live his life for once. Not just sit inside the forge all day, planning and building inventions so that we can be safe. He needs freedom and...I don't know anymore. It's just a big mess. I mean, I love him more then anything but...it's too much for him. He might not show it to you guys but I know what he does through..."
Astrid panted slowly and quietly, tears glittering in her eyes. Heather looked at her before she saw something moving at the top of the staircase. Turning her head to that direction, she stopped and stood up.
None other then Hiccup.
Astrid looked up and her eyes met his immediately.
"I'm just...gonna go," Heather said and walked to the stairs. Her eyes met his as she walked passed him before running down the stairs and out of the hut.
Hiccup turned his attention back to Astrid, who's eyes were still watery. His expression softened from his eyebrows being furrowed to him smiling.
He walked over to her and sat down on his bed, close to her. Astrid looked down. "How much...did you hear?" She asked and fiddled with the blanket.
"Pretty much everything."
She stiffened for a second and sucked her breath in before slowly relaxing. "But..." Hiccup started softly and placed his hand on her cheek. "Everything you said was right. This is too much for me to take from time to time but...with you, I can manage it just fine. Astrid..."
He lifted her head slightly and she looked at him. "Hey, listen," He started and placed his free hand on top of her hands holding the blanket.
"You may not think this but...just having you beside me is more then I could ever ask for. Even when we were just best friend. But, what we are now means more then anything. Because, you're mine and I wouldn't want it any other way. I know I said that we can show out personal feelings but...that's only when we're out on the battlefield. Now, all I want to do is to hold you close and be the guy you want me to be..."
Astrid looked into his eyes, seeing nothing but love and the truth. A tear slid down her cheek and Hiccup leaned in, kissing it away.
The blonde pulled her hands away from his and wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him close to her. Hiccup smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist, his left hand moving up and down her back.
"I just...I don't want you to go through this. I'm scared that one day, we'll go out on the battlefield and only I will return, without you. I can't loose you, Hiccup. I just can't...I can barely deal with you going through all of this...what if you died?" She asked, her face buried into his shoulder.
"Well...then you'll move-"
"Don't say it, Hiccup. Just don't say it, Hiccup," Astrid said and pulled away, also pulling away one of her hands and placing it on his cheek, her thumb on the corner of his mouth.
Hiccup smiled and pulled away his hand from her back, grabbing her wrist and pulling it away from his face. "You won't loose me."
"But, what if-"
"I promise. You won't loose me. You're everything I want. Everything I need and I have you here, in my arms right now. That's all I could ask for at this moment. You're all I could ever ask for.." Hiccup trailed down and looked at her.
Was he really going to say it?
Yes, he was.
"Astrid, I've been dreaming of you being mine like this ever since I was a small boy. Heck, ever since I laid my eyes on you, I didn't care what would happen to me. I only wanted you in my life and no you're here. I've loved you endlessly ever since...well, since I could remember. And, that means, I'm not gonna stop loving you. Ever. You have to understand that, okay? What I want to say is...I want us to be together. I want us to grow stronger and to last. I want everything with you," Hiccup paused and pulled away fully. "One day, I want us to remember this day, still together like we are now. I want us to grow old and still be together. I want to live the rest of my life with you and I want you to be my wife one day. Not because I'm gonna be the future chief. But because I love you and that's what I want. Will you...take my hand and...approve?"
Astrid looked at him, tears flowing down her cheeks. She smiled softly and reached forward, grabbing the strap on his suit and pulling him against her.
She placed her lips on his and Hiccup smiled. She slowly lowered herself, Hiccup following her. He leaned over her once she was laying down on his bed.
Their tongues softly danced in between their mouths as they pulled away and kissed again from time to time.
"Do you really need an answer for that or do you understand me through this?" Astrid asked softly, her lips still on his. "I get you..." Hiccup smiled and kissed her again.
"Thank Thor," She joked and smiled against his lips, her arms wrapped around his back.
"Thank you, Astrid."

"Woah, what happened to you guys?" Snotlout asked when they showed up at the dome. "Nothing. Why?" Astrid asked and looked at him, eyes big.
"You guys look tired."
"She helped me with a few stuff last night. Preparations and those kind of things, mind you, Snotlout."
The short guy raised his hands in defeat.
Astrid was blushing throughout the whole time when Hiccup walked around and talked.
Honestly, nothing really happened. Except for a full blown make out session and sleeping together, - with dreams, not the dirty thing - and them waking up with Astrid's hand under Hiccup's shirt and his hand under hers, on her bare back.
They didn't mind, of course.
They could get used to it.
(A/N: Hiccstrid is my sin. Why are they so perfect!?)
