The arrow came straight towards her and Stormfly. She couldn't let her dragon get poisoned by the Dragon Root. She just couldn't. The blonde swung her leg, kicking away the one aimed for Stormfly.

What she didn't see was the second arrow shooting towards her leg. Just had she had kicked away the arrow, the second buried itself into her thigh.

"Ah!" She screamed and grabbed the body of the arrow, pulling it out even though she knew that she shouldn't. If Hiccup would've seen the arrow in her leg, he would've panicked and pestered her, telling her to stay in one place.

How could she?

Stormfly did a sudden swoop down before regaining straight level. Astrid lost her balance and tumbled down. The dragon barely noticed her rider falling but she did and dove after her.

"Toothless!" Hiccup yelled and the Night Fury's wings beat harder. "Astrid!" He yelled before she landed on the saddle in front of him. His arm wrapped around her back while his other hand grabbed her leg to make sure she wouldn't fall off.

The blonde grunted and he saw her clutching her thigh. "Astrid-" He stopped when he saw something redd-ish slowly leak though her purple leggings.

Their eyes locked and they stayed there.

Toothless gained altitude, out of the reach for those arrows and nets, way above the clouds where the air was thin.

"Hiccup-"

He interrupted her. "I don't care what you say, I'm gonna take care of that."

"Is everybody okay?" Hiccup asked as they landed on the landing strip by the stables. "Yes," Snotlout, Fishlegs, the twins and Heather said. "Where's Astrid?" She asked.

"Up in my hut. She got shot by an arrow. I'm gonna take a look at it. You guys, get some rest. You deserve it," Hiccup said before walking away.

He knew they were looking at him, he could feel their eyes on his back. However, he didn't care. The only thing he could think about was Astrid and to make sure she was going to be alright.

Hiccup opened the door to his hut and slipped in quietly, greeted by a low grumble from upstairs. Toothless must've stayed with Astrid while he was gone. He smiled and went to grab the medical supply box everyone on Dragon's Edge had.

He walked upstairs and saw her swaying slightly. Not much. It was barely noticeable but his trained eyes saw. "Astrid, you should lay down..." He said softly and placed the box on the floor beside the bed.

Astrid nodded slightly and leaned back against the headboard, her body twisted awkwardly that looked kinda painful.

Hiccup signed and leaned over the bed, slipping his arms under her and loving her carefully.

The blonde groined and bit her lips but she didn't say anything. "I'm sorry," Hiccup said and slowly pulled away form her.

She laid straight on the bed, her back flat against it. "What are you apologizing for? You did nothing wrong..." Astrid said, looking at him.

"I know, I just...what if the arrow would've gotten aimed a bit higher? What if you would've flown a little lower? Have you ever though about that? I can't loose you, Astrid. Anything but you. Please..."

The blonde looked him straight in the eyes and pushed herself up slightly. "Come here, Hiccup," She said and stretched out her arm towards him.

Hiccup took her hand and their fingers laced. Astrid tugged him towards her softly and he sat down on the bed. Straightening herself, she pulled away her hand from his and smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

After burring her face into his neck, she smiled. "Thank you, Hiccup. I don't know what I would do without you..." She said softly and felt how his arms wrapped around her. "It's nothing, really. I'm just glad I could help, Astrid."

"You did more than that, Hiccup," She said and right after that, leaned in and pressed a small kiss to the corner of his mouth.
