Confession
Heather had kept her eyes on them for as long as she'd been on the edge and she had noticed quite a few things. One thing was that Hiccup and Astrid still hadn't gotten together.
She had talked to Astrid last time she had been there, when they were out in the forest, axe training.
She had asked her directly is she and Hiccup were a thing but she had friend zoned him, just like that. However, now, she was aiming for asking Hiccup.

A knock brought him out of his mapping and he turned his head towards his door. "Come in," He said. The door opened and a part of him kind of hoped it would be Astrid. However, when he saw Heather, he signed and smiled.
"What? Expecting it was Astrid?" She asked. "Kind of," Hiccup confessed, turning back to the map at his desk. "See, that's why I came," Heather said and walked inside, sitting down by the desk.
"Why? Has something happened?"
"No, nothing's happened. I wanted to talk to you."
"Yeah? About what?"
"Astrid."
His head snapped up and he furrowed his brows. "What about Astrid?" He asked and slowly turned back towards the map, just looking at it, listening to Heather.
The dark haired young signed and rolled her eyes. "You both are so clueless. You don't see it, do you?" She asked. "See what?" Hiccup asked and looked up.
Heather signed. "You guys are made for each other. I heard Astrid had a near death experience with the Scourge..." She said, not wanting to imagine her friend being dead if they hadn't found the cure.
"I don't want to talk about it," Hiccup said and looked down at his hands, leaning back slightly.
Heather stood up and looked down at him. "I know you don't. But, this should've woken you up. You could've lost lost her, Hiccup. Maybe it's time to realize that life is short. She really likes you and I know you feel the same way about her so why not take the chance and ask her? Maybe you guys get together? Who knows?"
Hiccup looked at her before he bit his lip and looked away again. "Consider it, at least," Heather said before walking out of his hut.
Hiccup signed and bent over, laying his head on the desk. "Thor above, help me."

Night fell over Dragon's Edge and everyone had probably already went to bed. Hiccup walked outside and breathed in deeply.
He could do this. If not today, then never. But...she had probably also gone to bed. Who knew?
He turned his head towards her hut and saw her sitting on the edge of the ledge holding the whole hut. He looked at her for quite a while.
He saw her fiddle with something in her hands and he smiled. Then, he saw her thug at the leather band holding her hair. When she pulled it off, her hair slowly came undone and it fell like a waterfall over her back. She gathered all of her hair and pulled it over her shoulder, coming though it with her fingers.
He smiled. He could do this. All in. No regrets!

"Hey, Astrid," He said softly and sat down beside her. She jumped and almost lost her balance which would lead to a certain death for her. Hiccup grabbed her arm just in time and held her back.
"Hi...Hiccup," She said, sounding disappointed. He looked at her softly, his hand still on her arm. He slowly trailed his hand down her arm and grabbed her hand.
"Can we talk?"
"Yeah, just, hold on for a second," Astrid whispered and stood up, walking over to her door and closing it. When she walked back and sat down, she said, "Heather sleeps in my hut. I don't want to wake her up."
Hiccup nodded and looked down at her hands before signing. "Hiccup? Something wrong, I know it. Tell me," Astrid urged him and placed a soft hand over his.
Hiccup turned his hand, grabbed hers softly and held it in his. Last time he held her hand like this was when she was sick with the Scourge of Odin.
"Heather and I talked today and..." He spoke softly. "She made me realize quite a few things," He said and gazed into his eyes. "Hiccup, what are you-" she was interrupted.
"I've said it to you before and I'll say it again. You know I can't imagine a world without you in it. Aaand I just...she said that I should take the chance and I'm doing it now. There's so much I want to tell you, I just never found the confidence to do so. Like, I always wanted to tell you how awesome you were when you fought or trained. How amazingly more beautiful you guy each day and how I fell in love with you more. I don't know what I would do if you died that day..." He said, his hand squeezing hers.
Astrid let out a small breath, smiling softly. "You'd move on. Forget me and move on," She said soothingly and placed her free hand, - her left one - on his cheek. Hiccup shook his head slowly, his eyes watering.
"I could've moved on. How could I? You were the first person who accepted me for who I was when we were younger. You were there for me on days when I felt down or I just didn't feel good. You've always been there for me, Astrid, and if I lost you...I don't know what I would've done. Moving on? I can't even think about moving on..." Hiccup confessed.
Astrid looked at him, her eyes big and she was looking right at him. "Hiccup-"
"No, you have to listen to me. I don't want a world without you in it. I want to be by your side, day and night, looking over you and protecting you, - even though you know how to protect yourself," He said, pulling away his hand from hers and holding her by her arms.
"Hiccup, please-"
"Astrid, I've been meaning to ask you for a while. I just didn't know how but will you..." He took a deep breath.
"Oh my Thor in Asgard, will you listen?!" She whisper-yelled at him. He looked at her, surprised. "I know how I feel about you Hiccup. It's something very strong that I can't describe with words so..." She trailed off and let to of him, standing up.
Pulling him up to, she grabbed the leather strap on his chest and pulled him in. Their lips met and the first thing Hiccup did was to get surprised. Typical Hiccup.
However, soon, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed back, smiling. Astrid pulled away for a second, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing herself against him again.
Their foreheads pressed together and she smiled. "...I've been wanting to do that for a while," She confessed.
"What? Kissed me? Then why didn't you do it?" Hiccup asked. "I don't know...I guess I was afraid of your reaction and what you would think of me."
"My reaction would be this," Hiccup said and moved his head slightly, catching her bottom lip between his. "Mm," Astrid hummed and stood up on her toes.
She pulled away for a second and grinned up at him. "I could actually get used to this," She said and smiled, pressing her lips against his for a heated kiss.
Unknowing to them, Heather was awake had she had been listening to everything. She smiled and grabbed her axe, opening the door to Astrid's hut.
"Sorry to interrupt," She said with a smirk. Hiccup and Astrid broke apart with a smack and they both looked flustered. "I'm going for a night flight of Windshear," She said slowly starting to walk away.
"Oh, and, the beds in there if you guys need it." And then, she was gone.
The couple looked at each other before becoming a blushing mess.
Heather chuckled to herself. She knew the bed will come to use so she might as well sleep in the stables.
(A/N: O M G I've had so much fun with this. Guuuuuys, the bed did come to use! Haha, no, but seriously. 😏😏)
