Cheesy
(A/N: For @GhostFuryKiller. Thank you for the request.)
Hiccup sighed and sat on the edge of the ledge in front of the Dragon Stables, looking over the calm sea as Toothless laid beside him, his large head in his lap. Hiccup's eyes traveled over the ocean. This place would sure be hard to leave.
He turned his head to look back at the Edge. They'd been here for over a year or two and it had grown on him. The many memories that they'd made here. Everything from planning what the place would look like up until the battles.
Dragon's Edge had been their home for the last year or two and he didn't want to leave this place but with Krogan and Johann defeated, there was no need to be here anymore.
Berk was waiting for them to come home any day now and a smile made it's way onto his lips.
Even though they left the Edge, Berk was their home too and he couldn't wait to get home to start planning on how to make the island a better, safer place for both Vikings and Dragons.
His eyes caught something moving in the stables and watched as the person moved around. Toothless raised his lap and looked back into the stable. He grumbled and a squawk was heard. That was clearly Stormfly and Hiccup knew that where the Deadly Nadder was, there was also the beautiful girl that rode the dragon.
He waited patiently for her to be done with whatever she was doing.
Her image flashed before her eyes and a smile appeared on his lips.
She was just so beautiful and he still wasn't sure how he deserved such an amazing human being in his life. When he was younger, not even his wildest imaginations would've taken him as far as where he is today.
He's a Dragon Rider, for Thor's sake. When he was fifteen, he could only dream about being friends with Astrid, Snotlout and the others. He probably wouldn't but he till wished. However, today, he was more than just friends with them.
No matter how weird they were, is friends were a part of him. He couldn't have done half of the things he has if it hadn't been for their support. They were his best friends and no matter how annoying or irritated some of them were, - hinting at Snotlout, Ruffnut and Tuffnut - they were still his friends and he couldn't have wanted more.
"What are you smiling about?" A sweet voice asked. A voice he'd come to love more than anything. "Astrid?" He asked and looked at her. "Nothing. Just looking back at all the memories this place has given us," He said and patted the place next to him.
Astrid sat down with a smile and immediately leaned her head onto his shoulder, looking over the sea as well. "Yeah, this place had been out home for the last few years but it's time to go back," She said and looked up at him. "We can always come back for a visit though."
Hiccup nodded and wrapped his arm around he waist, hand landing on her skirt and he watched here he put his hands. The spikes on her skirt were rounded but they were still sharp. He'd learned that the hard way when kissing her once.
"I know we can," Hiccup said softly and turned his head to press a kiss to her forehead. Astrid smiled and grabbed his hand with her hands that were laying in his lap. She snuggled her head closer into his shoulder and Hiccup smiled softly at her.
He loved to just sit there and hold her. Who would've known that Astrid Hofferson was such a softie when it came to hugging and cuddling? He for sure didn't until after they got together.
He appreciated it though because he knew that she would only let her walls down for him. She had discussed it with him before and she told him that only he would ever be able to touch her in the way he does.
If he would've been Snotlout right now, she would've had him pushed up against the stable wall, scolding him for even daring to lay a finger on her.
But he was not Snotlout and she didn't scold him.
A grin played itself onto his lips and Hiccup pulled back. Astrid lifted her head and looked at her betrothed, searching for something in his eyes.
"Astrid?" He asked, the smile still on his lips. "Yes?" She asked and sat up, looking at him. She wondered what he wanted or if something was wrong. "Do you have a map?" He asked.
What? Why would she have a map? Didn't their searching and adventures and at the Edge now? Why would she need to have a map on her?
"What? Why would I have a map?" She asked and looked at him with, her eyebrows furrowed and confusion in her features. Hiccup's smile cracked into a lopsided grin and he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close.
His node bumped hers and he gazed into her eyes.
"Because I keep getting lost in your eyes."
Astrid stared at him for a few seconds as her brain proceeded to take in what he said. A few moments later, her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she broke free from his grasp. "Oh my gods," She said, laughter in her voice as she stood up and walked away.
"Hey! Astrid, wait up!" He yelled as she walked away. He thought standing up would be easy but he was wrong. A step or two after he stood up, his knee buckled and he fell face first onto the wooden ledge.
Toothless bounded over to his rider to check on him. "I'm fine, Toothless," He said and patted the dragons head. He looked over at Astrid. "Wow, this woman really sweeps me off my feet," He said and couldn't help the smile when he heard her laugh though another, "Oh my god."
(A/N: 90% of this is everything other than cheesy but I hope you liked it.)
