Buffalord

Hiccup's POV.

I hope Astrid will be fine while we get the Buffalord to Dragon's Edge. She's gotten ill, - very ill - and we brought Gothi to the Edge. However, Gothi wrote something about a Buffalord. An inflatable dragon who looks like a yak.

It was hard to find him but we finally got him and we're on our way back to her.

Astrid is the only person who could make me do anything. Even though she probably doesn't know it, she's got a special place in my heart. Astrid and I, we've been through stuff no one else have been thought.

Like, when we had that flight on Toothless. And the times she supported me. She's someone really special to me. And knowing that she's getting worse by the second, I can't help but feel anxiety creeping into me as well as fear.

What if...

What if we get home and Astrid's...

No! I can't think like that. My girl will make it! She's strong and tough. She won't give up so easily. She's a warrior.

"We have to hurry!" I yelled back at the others. Buffalord was still flying behind me and Toothless calmly. He probably knows that he has to help someone.

Author's POV.

They reached the Edge rather fast and the first thing Hiccup did after landing was to jump off of Toothless and run towards his hut.

Since she had gotten up in the middle of the night, saying that she was nauseous and swaying slightly, Hiccup had said that she should lay down in his bed to rest.

She did and he stayed with her all night, watching over her, holding her hand and stroking her hair.

However, when she announced that she was feeling even worse than before, Hiccup leaned down and pressed his lips against her forehead, telling her that he'll be back soon and then, she'll get better.

Hiccup's POV.

I ran as fast as I could. Even though we had landed a few yards away from my hut, I still ran. Astrid is an important person to me. And I don't know what I would do if I lost her. She's my everything. We're best friends. She's the only friend that I can tell secrets to. Secrets that is about me, about her and about us.

People talk about us on Berk. How we're in the right age to marry and stuff. However, even though Astrid and I like each other, very much, I want to wait. I don't want to force her into something she doesn't want. Especially not with a fool like me.

I opened the door and saw her laying on my bed. Gods above, she is so beautiful.

However, I can't think about that now. I ran over to my bed and sat down. What should I do? Grab her hand or hug her or what? I don't know.

I placed my hand on her shoulder and slight shook her. "Astrid," I said calmly. No response. "Astrid!"

Just when I thought my life would come to an end, her eyes fluttered open and she looked at me.

"H-Hiccup, y-you're ba-back," She said, her voice failing her. "Oh, thank Thor you're alive," I said and wrapped my arms around her, hugging her. I felt her arms slowly wrap around my neck before hearing a faint voice say, "Thank y-you, Hiccup. Y-you mean s-so much t-to me."

I signed and pulled away, pressing my lips to her cheek. "I'll be back with the cure soon. And then you'll be better. I promise," I whispered before looking her in the eye.

Just as I stood up and turned towards the closed door, a hand grabbed mine. I turned back towards her and she was looking at me. Directly in the eye.

"Yes?"

"I...I l-love you, Hiccup."

She what?! I smiled like a fool and went over to her, leaning down so we were face to face. I stroke the back of her hand with my thumb just before leaning in and pressing a light kiss to her lips.

I pulled away quickly and turned towards the door, beginning to run.

We soon gathered the cure for Astrid. It turned out that most stuff would actually be needed from Toothless. But, we got it done and made Astrid drink it.

Gothi "told" us that we have to wait a day to get the venom to disappear from her body. Turned out, she had gotten a snakebite sometime yesterday noon.

Astrid now laid in bed. It's midnight and I'm up, waiting for the medicine to work. I've been crying a few times at the thought of it not working and Astrid dying but I know that I have to think positive.

Astrid will make it, I know that. She's tough. And she better make it because I have an very important question to ask her.

•••

It's morning. The sun went up about an hour ago and everyone have already been in here, wanting to know if Astrid's alright.

They left just a few minutes ago and I'm slowly falling asleep. Toothless is sleeping soundly on his rock slab and I can't help but smile. He's such an amazing dragon. Sometimes, I wonder if he really is a Night Fury or if he's just a large cat-

"Hiccup?" I hear a familiar voice. I turn my head towards Astrid and she's sitting up, looking like nothing had ever happened to her. "Astrid!" I say in happiness and wrap my arms around her, burring my face into her shoulder. "You have no idea how worried I was-"

"Hiccup. Stop talking," She says and I pull away slightly to look at her. She places her hands on my cheeks and I can feel her thumbs moving. "What did I ever do to have such an amazing friend like you?" She asked. I could clearly see her chewing on her lip.

"Astrid," I say and look a her with a smile, taking her hands in mine. I press a kiss to the back of her hands before I look her deeply in the eyes.

"Do you remember what you said to me yesterday?" I ask with a hint of hope. Astrid looks at me weirdly. "About...you loving me?" I ask.

Her eyes widened and she smiled. "I remember that. What about it?" She asks. "I wanted to ask you...do you wanna...be my girlfriend?" I ask with a small smile.

The blonde beauty in front of me smiles and without a second though, she wraps her arms around my neck and we lean in.

As we kiss, I could just barely understand what she said, "Yes," and I can't be happier. This girl really is my girlfriend. My partner.

She is my other half. I don't know how she got to feel this way about me but I'm glad she came at least this far.

Author's POV.

They sat there, on the bed, tangled in each other's limbs. From time to time, they would pull away from the kiss, breathing before going back to business.

Suddenly, Astrid pulled away and grabbed Hiccup's wrist, lifting his hand up slightly. "Wha-" she interrupted him. "Sshh," she hushed him with a smile.

Then, she intertwined her fingers with his and gazed him in the eyes. Her other arm was laying soundly around his neck while his hand were striking the small of her back.

"Hiccup..." She begun affectionately. "I want you to listen to me," She said before continuing. "I know that we weren't the best of friends when we where smaller. But, that didn't mean I didn't care about you. You were the only normal Viking who actually could get something done. I always though you were a great person to be with, even though I had never talked to you. I'm glad I found the Cove with you and Toothless. If not, we wouldn't have been here today. I'm glad I fell for you, literally-" they laughed before Astrid continued again, "-because if I wouldn't have, then I wouldn't have suck an amazing person in my life. Thank you, Hiccup. Thank you so much. Not only for saving my life but for surviving when everyone had lost hope. Thank you."

When she had finished, a tear rolled down her cheek and stopped at her chin, clinging onto the pearly skin before failing and falling down.

Hiccup smiled and trailed his hand up her back, striking it. "You know, you didn't have to apologize; I've forgiven you already. I did it right after you did something wrong that involved me. I'm grateful for everything you've done or given to me. I love you. Thank you," Hiccup finished before leaning in again.

This time, they didn't even bother about the tears streaming down their faces.
