(A/N: I figured, sing I haven't updated for a while, I'll give you guys this. Ideas taken from Hiccstrid_Clan on Instagram. Song name; Message by Bears - You Are A Memory.)

She was weak. She could barely move. Everything was fading away. She felt herself slip off of Stormfly and she expected the hit to come. But, instead, she fell into someone's arms.

Opening her eyes slightly, she looked at the person who had caught her and she met those dazzling emerald green eyes, looking down at her with care and concern.

She knew she hadn't much time left. She knew it. She felt it. All of the energy she had left was slowly draining out of her. She tried having her head up but she was too weak. Grooming, she let her head drop slowly.

She heard Hiccup's sweet voice. She couldn't make out what he said though. She felt the young man she loved so much, starting to walk and then she was slowly lowered to the ground. The warmth that had been keeping her together was gone and his arms slipped away from her body.

She felt emptiness.

Like she was being abandoned. She let a teardrop slide down her cheek because she knew everything was over. Astrid knew. She knew that she would never be able to tell Hiccup how she felt about him. She knew that she would probably never see him smile again. He was her best friend. He relied on her...and what did she do? She failed him. Her eyes landed on his figure up in the sky, on Toothless, arguing with Viggo and Ryker.

"I'm sorry..." was the only thing she could say. She saw him land and gather the saliva that could save her but her eyes went blurry and everything went dark a few seconds after the cup was placed to her lips and she barely felt the saliva making its way down her throat.

Everything went quiet and then, it faded. She saw nothing. She couldn't hear anything. She could feel anything.

"Why isn't it working?" He asked in panic. Fishlegs shrugged. "Did she drink it?" He asked. "I don't know."

He turned his attention from Fishlegs to Astrid. "Hey..." He said but nothing. No movement, no eyes opening, nothing. "Hey! No, no, no! Astrid!" He yelled at her and grabbed her shoulders. Nothing.

His eyes started to water as he leaned in. He placed his forehead against hers and tears made their way down his cheeks. He slowly lifted his hands from holding hers, trailed them up her arms and placed them on her cheeks.

Hiccup stroke his thumb over her cheeks and cried. Closing his eyes, pictures of them were running through his mind.

He remembered when she hugged him on their Romantic Flight. When she kissed him after that. When she kissed him again after he woke up. When they went Dragon Sledding and they got trapped in that icy cave. Every time she supported him. Every time she was there for him. He had never thanked her. And he would never be able to either. He couldn't get to see those beautiful eyes of her again. Shine and shimmer like they always did when she was with him.

They had a special connection. He had planned on telling her how he felt after they would get home. That would never happen either. He wouldn't be able to see her reaction and he wouldn't be able to hear her answer him.

She didn't deserve this. She was too young to die. She was too perfect to die.

Hiccup felt someone tap on his shoulder and he looked up through the tears. "We're going back to Dragons Edge. We have to prepare for a proper send off," Fishlegs said softly, his voice about to crack.

Hiccup nodded. "I...I'll be back soon too," he said before turning back towards the girl he loved so much. He carefully listened to the others as they left. Checking so they were gone, he broke down crying. He was a mess.

Toothless crooned beside him and laid down, understanding what had happened. He buried his eyes in his front paws and gave away some sort of whines. Stormfly walked over and squawked silently. Hiccup moved slightly and the Nadder nudged the blondes cheek with her nose. Backing away and closing her eyes, she sat down on the ground and gave out some kind of a sigh.

Hiccup looked at the blonde in front of him and grabbed her somewhat still warm hands. "I...promised myself that I would protect you no matter w-what would happen. I just wished you'd know how much you meant to me. You weren't j-just my best friend. To me, you were so much more. Y-you were my savior. You were my other half. You've helped me so much and I wish I-I could repay you. I...I love you, Astrid. I always h-have. Ever since I met you, I've always had f-feelings for you. I was just to scared to tell you. I...I was scared of hearing a, "No," from you. I wish I could tell you how much I love you and h-how much you mean to me. I wish you could hear me..." Hiccup somehow managed to cry out.

He closed his eyes and breathed out, slowly standing up. He leaned down and slid his arms under Astrid's lifeless body. Lifting her up, he walked over to Toothless and slowly slid into his back with her in his arms. He clutched her against his chest, making sure she wouldn't fall off.

Wiping the tears from his eyes with one hand, he put his leg into the stirrups and clicked the tail. Toothless sniffled once before slowly taking to the air. Stormfly followed lazily.

Dragons grieved harder then humans did. If a dragons mate would die, the other dragon could go years without doing anything until deciding to end itself. It's pretty deep.

They had been flying for a couple of minutes when Hiccup looked down at the blonde in his arms. She looked so peaceful. As if she was asleep. He brushed her bangs out of her eyes and lifted her up slightly, laying her head on his collar. He turned his head and pressed his lips against her forehead.

"I...I'm sorry, Astrid. I'm sorry I could give the antidote to you sooner. I'm sorry..." He cried and buried his nose into her hair.

A deep inhale was heard and Hiccup pulled away, looking at her. "H..." He heard her say. Those blue eyes of her opened slowly and they were brighter and darker then he remembered. "A...Astrid?" He choked out.

"Yes. I'm here. I'm okay...you don't have to cry anymore. I heard everything you said. Thank you..." She said and pulled herself up slightly. Sitting up with the support of Hiccup, she placed her hands on his cheeks and leaned her forehead against his.

"You were just in time, Hiccup. It was all me. I gave up too easily. You don't have to worry anymore. I'm here. I'll always be here. Don't cry..." She said and wiped the tears away.

Hiccup looked at her in disbelief. Was she actually alive. He placed his hands on her waist and he ducked his breath in, wrapping his arms around her tightly.

"Will you promise me something?"

Hiccup nodded and squeezed his eyes shut, tears falling down his cheeks. "Promise you'll always be here for me..."

"I...I promise."

"Good. I promise I'll always be by you. I'll always support you and I'll always help you. Hiccup...I love you," Astrid said and buried her face into his neck, her hands clutching his armor.

Hiccup breathed in and pulled away slightly, gazing into her eyes. She'd never lie to him. He knew she wasn't lying now either.

"Astrid..." He said and trailed his hands up her waist slowly, making goosebumps for on her skin. She looked down at his hands before looking at him. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she leaned in and softly pressed her lips against his cheek.

"Thank you, for everything, Hiccup," She said and pulled back before pressing her lips against his. It wasn't a quick one. It was slow and passionate and loving. Their lips moved in sync. Astrid fisted one of her hands into his hair and tugged at it. He pulled away.

The only thing he could do was to wrap his arms around her and hold her close. She was alive and she was in his arms. She felt the same as he did. He couldn't be happier.

She was okay.

That's what mattered the most. And, hopefully, in the future, he could tell her how much he wanted her in his life but now, he just wanted to chill. Take a day at a time.

You never know how much you love someone/something until you almost loose him/her/it.
