Always

(A/N: She finds him, sitting in Cover, fiddling with leaves and thinking. Takes place after the kiss scene in episode 12.)

Astrid stopped in front of her houses door, hesitating to talk in. She had been gone for so long since last time she was on Berk. What would they think of her?

Their only daughter, wandering off with Hiccup and the others to foreign places without any contact with them at all.

She took a deep breath and placed her hand on the door handle, pulling it open and slowly walking in.

"Mom...dad?"

Audhild Hofferson peeked out from the back room and smiled. "Lars, our daughter is home!" She said and walked out of the back room, putting down the double sided axe she had been sharpening, on the table as she walked up to Astrid.

Typical Hofferson's.

Always gotta be something that's sharp and dangerous around then.

Astrid smiled slightly when her mother walked up to her, wrapping her arms around her. Audhild was a middle aged woman, around forty, blonde hair, grey eyes, rounder face...

Like mother, like daughter.

Lars Hofferson walked out after his wife and laughed wholeheartedly, enveloping Astrid into a hug hug once her mother had let her go. Lars was only a year older then Audhild, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes.

"Mom...dad..."

Lars pulled away and looked at her. "Is something wrong, dear?" Her mother asked. "Not really...well, sort of..." Astrid said softly, not knowing how to say it.

Her parents waited patiently.

"I'm sorry for...being away from home this much," She started and looked up, her eyes shifting between her father and her mother. "I know I'm your only child and that you don't want me to get into trouble but...I can't help but feel like it's my fault that you probably worry about me."

Her father smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, Astrid. You've grown up. You deserve this. The freedom of exploring things. It's true that we worry about you but you deserve this..." Lars said, his large hand on her cheek.

"It's true, Astrid. You're an adult now. You're able to come and go as you wish and you don't have to apologize for being away. I'm sure there's plenty of work to do on Dragons Edge and how hard you and everyone else's must be fighting to protect everything," Audhild said and pulled her in, hugging her. Lars hugged his daughter too and they stayed there for a while.

"Now, go. I know you want to go out there and do what you love," Her mother told her and pulled her away from them, turning her around and pushing her towards the door.

Astrid smiled and walked up to it, opening it. Just before waking out, her father cut her off. "Oh, and, Astrid...keep it up with Hiccup."

She stiffened and blushed madly, quickly rushing out the door and closing it after her. Her parents laughter were heard before she whistled for Stormfly.

"What a surprise. I didn't think I'd find you here," Astrid said with a smile and got off of her dragon, walking up to Hiccup who was sitting at the edge of the water, - at the exact spot where he stood between Toothless and Astrid that day they met.

Hiccup turned his head to look at her.

Smiling, he stretched out his arm and she sat down beside him, one arm around his back and the other one on his chest, laying her head in her shoulder.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and stayed there.

"Well, I wanted to visit this place before we go back to Dragons Edge," Hiccup said softly and buried his nose into her hair.

Astrid hummed and looked around.

The place was more beautiful then she remembered and it brought back so many memories.

Everything was quiet except for the birds chirping up in the trees and their dragons lazily playing behind them.

Hiccup suddenly laughed. Astrid pulled back and looked at him. "It's nothing, I just started think about something..." He said and looked at her before looking out over the water.

"What did you think about?" Astrid asked softly and looked down at his hand, trailing her hand, - the hand she had in his chest - down his front before slipping her hand into his and staying there, fiddling with his fingers from time to time.

He looked down at their hands before looking at her, gazing into her eyes. "Do you remember when you first met Toothless?" He asked, his eyes drifting from hers to her lips.

"Yeah, why?"

He squeezed her hand and leaned in slightly, not showing any expressions of going in for a kiss. Astrid smiled, eyes half lidded. "And, what about our first kiss?"

His voice was hushed and she felt his breath on her face. A shiver ran down her spine and she smiled. "That too," She said in a whisper and leaned closer, her nose touching his.

"Good thing you didn't forget about it..."

He closed the distance between them and moved, wrapping his arms around her. One of Astrid's hands wrapped around his neck and the other, around his back.

She hummed into the kiss when he squeezed her for a second. Hiccup pulled back and leaned his forehead against hers, eyes still closed.

The hand she had around his neck moved up, into his auburn locks and she massaged his scalp with her fingers.

They stayed there for quite a while, just holding each other and taking in each other's presence.

"Astrid..." Hiccup breathed out. "Yes?" She asked him in a whisper. "I'm so glad to have you as my girlfriend..."

She smiled and pulled away, opening her eyes and looking at him. He opened his eyes too and they pierced into her very soul.

She couldn't utter a word. She just shook her head with a smile and kissed him again.

Everything was just awesome.
