Act 15; She calls you senpai?!
After Sensei Nekomata gave a speech of how good Karasuno was, Ren was caught by a some words that he said. "If you guys want to play us again, let's do it at the nationals or a real game."
"Osu, let's meet at the nationals!" Hinata yelled excitedly, as everyone else sighed in defeat. "Kiyoko-senpai!" Ren called on the female manager to ask if she could help with handing out the water bottles. "What is it, Yoshida-san?"
Ren gave a smile, and took some bottles from her hand, making Kiyoko give a warm expression. "Let me help you with that."
"Uh- thank you." After handing out a few, and cleaning up, she gave her senpai a high-five, having her smile. "Oi." Tanaka turned around to face Yamamoto. "Heh, What is it? You wanna go again?!"
"Erm- well... what's your manager's name?" Tanaka gave a blank expression before putting on an intimidating one. "Ya' trying to bother our manager?! I'll mess that bushy hair of yours!"
"No... I don't have the courage to talk to her..."
Tanaka then glittered his eyes up, "Shimizu... Kiyoko."
"That name fits her perfectly!"
"That's what I thought when I was first talking to her! But being ignored... isn't all that bad either." Yamamoto then covered up his face, "that's still too high for me to hurdle!"
The bald second year gave out a laugh, "you're a pretty decent guy."
"Same to you... I'm Yamamoto Taketora." He shook his hand with Tanaka's, "Tanaka Ryunnosuke." Yamamoto then gave out a weak sigh, "but isn't it hard for you?"
"Hm, what is?"
"I mean, while that dude is talking to her and all... Isn't she already with someone?" Tanaka took a moment, and then fired himself up. "WHO'S THIS BASTARD, WHERE IS HE?!" The Nekoma member then pointed his thumb towards Ren, probably the only person in Karasuno that he hated, who had been talking to their female manager.
Tanaka then started laughing and patted his shoulder. "Yoshida and Kiyoko-san aren't anything but friends. Besides, Yoshida is a girl." Yamamoto gave a blank expression before eyes widening. "THAT'S A GIRL?!" The other wing spiked nodded, as he chuckled when his new friend sulked in defeat.
That reminded Ren; she needed to apologize to the Tanaka look-alike, for she probably embarrassed him. "Tsukishima-kun!" She caught up to him, causing him to turn with all the volleyballs he was holding. "What is it?" She shuffled nervously, "hand me some of the volleyballs, I-I'll help you..."
He turned away, "I don't need the help." She huffed in defeat, and turned away.
"But I didn't say I didn't want it."
Ren sighed, "what a bothersome. But I guess that's who you are." She took some, and walked towards the storage room. "Oh, and I decided not to make that Tanaka look-alike jealous," she looked him in the eyes, "I think that'd be too harsh." Tsukishima raised an eyebrow, before continuing to pick up the volleyballs. "So making him jealous is harsh, but hitting him in the face isn't?"
"Ah, Yoshida! Come over here!" Her senpai gestured her towards him, and it didn't take a while for her to notice that he probably had gotten along with Yamamoto. "Tanaka-senpai, what is it?" She asked as she put away the items in her hand. "
Karasuno's wing spiked then gestured his eyes towards his new buddy once more, having her take a bow in front of Yamamoto. "I'm sorry I acted like that towards you, I guess I was just excited for the match. Now that you're friends with Tanaka-senpai, I'll introduce myself to you. My name is Yoshida Ren. Nice to meet you..."
"Yamamoto... Yamamoto Taketora..."
"Ah, Yamamoto-san? I hope we can get along- I'm really sorry about earlier."
"N-no... that's alright..." When Ren heard this, she gave a heart warming smile and walked off. Yamamoto then turned to Tanaka, who had been giving off an evil grin. "S-she calls you senpai?!" The bald second year nodded, proud fully. "Yeah," he crossed his arms smiling, "she does."
The other male in the room stayed quiet for a short period of time, before opening his mouth to speak. "Yoshida is actually pretty cute up close." Tanaka nodded once again, as he gave a serious expression.
Ren walked out of the gym, to see her teacher, Takeda.
That's right...
I'm the assistant adviser now.
She waved to him, but quickly put her hand down due to his conversation with Nekoma's coach.
--
"Why is Ukai-kun acting all... weird, sensei?" Takeda sighed as he rubbed the back of his head. "Nekomata-sensei called him childish..." Ren gave a reassuring look, before smiling, "Ukai-kun said he would stay and coach Karasuno."
"Eh? What- really?!" She shook her head up and down furiously. "How did you do that?!"
"I didn't... Coach said he decided it by himself." Takeda then caught up with the new coach of Karasuno. "Coach Ukai-kun? I thought you said you'd only coach through the match with Nekoma!"
"You think I can just sit back after being told all that?! I'll definitely get my revenge on the grand stage!" Sensei then gasped and bowed, "we will be in your care then!" Ren quickly stood next to him and bowed as well, shocking the coach.
"Let's win the preliminaries together, coach Ukai-kun." She softly spoke out, in an almost encouraging way. He placed his hand on his head, and slightly chuckled. "You sound almost exactly like sensei, even though you two had just started getting to know each other."
Ren then got up out of her bowing position, and looked at her higher-up who had done the same. "W-We do?"
--
After Yamamoto and Tanaka said their goodbyes, crying, and creeping their teams out by doing so, a certain first year caught up to Nekoma's setter, which caused Ren to tag along as well. "Geesh, Yoshida-san has been following Hinata ever since we came here." Tsukishima gave out a menacing smirk, as he turned to walk towards the others. "My, my, Yamaguchi. No need to get jealous."
The freckled boy's face then heated up out of embarrassment, "Tsu-Tsukki!"
--
Gosh, Hinata. You shouldn't run off like that.
She knew where he was going, to see Kenma.
Ren just acted like it was to bring him back to the others, because she didn't want to be awkward, and confront their setter again. "Kenma!" Hinata called on, causing the blonde to turn from his conversation with Kuroo, and look at him. "W-When I met you on the street... You said you particularly didn't like Volleyball... What part about it do you dislike?" The other one partaking in the conversation then mumbled a bit, "oh... yeah."
Ren stood a good distance away, enough for her to hear the conversation. Kuroo as well, for he had been waiting for his childhood friend. "Hmm... Nothing in particular... I guess..."
Hinata gave a frustrated pout, and suddenly blurted out a few words, frightening the three around him. "Next time- We'll definitely win, and when we do... I'll make you say it was frustrating or it was fun or anything instead of not really!"
"Ah, Hinata-san you idiot." Ren grinned to herself.
We will win next time.
"Okay, I'll look forward to it, Shoyou." Kenma gave a small smile, and walked back to Kuroo, as Hinata had done the same to Ren. "Hinata-san, you really need to stop running off." The ginger then smiled fired up, "if we don't meet in the nationals, you and sensei need to arrange another match." Ren nodded cheerfully, as they walked back to the rest.
--
"Let's meet again, Kenma!" The hyped up first year shouted his farewells, as Ren waved back with the rest of her team. "You too, Shoyou, Yoshida."
"Kenma, you sound too creepy." The blonde then looked up to his friend, "that's just you, Kuroo."
"Eh? Why?" Kenma stayed quiet, which made Kuroo sigh. "That was the first time you seemed to be excited during a match."
"Hm... Really?" Kuroo nodded, as they left back to their homes.
--
Ren yawned as she walked into class, late again. "Yoshida-san, hurry and take your seat, we have already started." She then sat in her seat, and put her head down. "You're in college prep and you keep coming late. That won't be good for your studies." She put her hand up to the blonde she had sat next to, and quieted him down, "shhh."
"I think she's sleepy. Let's go back to taking notes, Tsukki."
"Tch. Whatever."
A little while passed and to Ren's surprise, she hasn't been caught sleeping... yet. "Now class, I'll be handing out the test results of the exam you did last week." Ren jolted up to that, and she seemed rather interested in this. Math was her best subject, better yet; she hadn't even studied for this test.
So why was she so curious?
This scared the two next to her, rather, shocked to see her suddenly intrigued. "Congratulations, Tsukishima-kun, for getting the highest mark in the class."
Tsukishima then raised himself up, and everyone started to applaud for him, especially a specific freckled friend of his. "Ugh, not again."
Yamaguchi then laughed, "you didn't even know there was an exam, Yoshida-san. And you didn't even study." She sniffed fakely, as the teacher called out students one by one. Ren then got up out of her seat, and took her test, devastated. "I'd like to see you after class, Yoshida-san."
See her after class? Ren's mark wasn't as great as Tsukishima's, sure. But it wasn't bad enough for her to see the teacher.
She walked back to her desk, tightening the grip around her test paper. "How bad did you just do?" Tsukishima asked Ren, who had put her head down on the table once again. "I failed."
"That's what you get for not studying." The blonde said mockingly, which wasn't exactly a lie. "What'd you get?" Yamaguchi asked, as he looked at his own paper. She handed it to him and returned to her sulking state.
"Ah- This is amazing, did you seriously not study, Yoshida-san?" She shook her head, as she took it back. "You just didn't show your work for these couple of questions. Besides that, you could've gotten full mark!" Yamaguchi complimented, which made her feel a bit better about her 54.5 / 56 or 97%
She then yawned, "I was tired that day... Why would I show my work? It obviously has the answers; is there a reason I should show off? Anyways, what'd you guys get, Tsukishima-kun, Yamaguchi-san?"
Tsukishima turned his paper over, and went back to his headphones. "57/56, 101.7% this is amazing, Tsukishima-kun!"
"You're still the second best in the class, idiot."
"What did you get, Yamaguchi-san?" The freckled not rubbed his neck and turned his test to them. "That's not bad either," she comforted his 42/56.
--
"You wanted to speak with me, M-Mrs. Miyu-sensei?" The teacher looked up at the student and told her to take a seat. "Yoshida-san? The vice principal told me about you joining the males volleyball team, is this true?" Ren nodded shyly, since she didn't know if it was wrong that she did. "There have been some awful rumours about you, since you don't wear the girl's uniform, and hang out with boys. I won't say it's wrong, but I think it would be better to make some female friends."
Rumours? Ren hasn't heard any rumors before. But then again, no one talks to her, which makes it even more difficult to make friends.
The student then nodded slightly, "so starting tomorrow I'd like to see you making some friends along with wearing the appropriate uniform. It's not good to have those types of rumours spread." Ren then left class, and Yamaguchi and Tsukishima had been waiting for her. The freckled boy forced his taller friend to stay, so they could all leave together. "What'd she say?"
Ren looked at Yamaguchi, who had fixed his backpack on himself. "She says I need to wear a skirt starting tomorrow... And make... female friends..."
Tsukishima bursted into laughter, "you, Yoshida-kun, wear a skirt and make friends?" Ren puffed and crossed her arms. "I-I'll show you, Tsukishima-kun... I mean, I'll wear a skirt and not sulk. I can't make friends."
"Yeah, you're too socially awkward."
--
"Waaah! Kageyama you're mark is amazing!"
"Same to you, dumbass," they both investigated each other's marks, as the three tallest of them encountered the least smart of the bunch. "Oi, Hinata-san, Kageyama, What'd you both get?"
"Heads up, they aren't that bright." The tall blonde said, as she walked over to them. "I think I did pretty well, Yoshida-kun!" She looked at his test and her eyes widened. "8/56? 14%?!"
Ren then looked over at Kageyama's 8.5/56. She sighed as she tried not breaking their hopes. "Are you both idiots? Well, I guess the king isn't a smart dictator." Kageyama clenched his teeth, "don't call me that."
Ren gave a rigid pout before stopping the conversation from getting any worse. "A-Ah, you guys did well..."
"Yoshida-kun, what'd you get?" Ren didn't want to discourage them, but didn't want to look like a coward in front either. She took out her test paper, as well as Tsukishima's and Yamaguchi's. "Uwaahh! You're pretty smart, Yoshida-kun!"
She could tell Kageyama was also amazed, but after seeing Tsukishima's, they turned completely competitive. "Yoshida-kun, Can you tutor us?!" She backed up, and smiled hesitantly. The raven haired male nodded, as Yamaguchi raised his hand. "Count me in as well."
"Eh? Fine... But Tsukishima-kun is helping me." She could hear them booing, and Tsukishima gave her a confused look.
