"I need the money," Louis reminds himself as he wipes the counter for the tenth time in the past hour. Nobody ever comes to McDonalds at 2 am on a Thursday. Louis would know, he always works this shift.
Though this week it's even slower than usual. There hasn't been a costumer in half an hour and there's a total of three people inside the restaurant. A couple that looks way to young to be out this late at night and a man sipping a coffee he got for free with his McDonalds points.
"I wouldn't drink that crap even if it were free."
Louis would have saved up his points for a cheeseburger or a Big Mac probably, but he hasn't had that issue since he started this job. Free burgers are the only reason to keep working here.
Well and his student debt.
And maybe his coworker Zayn. Sucker got the night of today without telling Louis.
Louis sighs as he grabs the rag, ready to wipe the counter another time as a group of people shuffles in. College students, he guesses. The group stumble over their feet and words as they come towards the counter. The smell of alcohol approaches with them, not too heavy that it gets uncomfortable, but heavy enough to make Louis scrunch his nose up.
"Good night, what can I get you?"
A guy with an obvious case of boxed dye blonde hair is first to speak. He shoots Louis a toothy grin.
"For me a medium McChicken menu and- woah dude." The blonde laughs too loud for Louis liking as he gets bumped into by one of his friends, brown hair and a beard. "Adam, stand up straight, man."
Adam, Louis picks up, only smirks back, still making the blonde carry most of his weight. "Ni, will you order for me as well?"
"Alright, sorry." He smiles, getting a better hold of Adam by wrapping an arm around his waist. "So a medium McChicken menu for myself, ketchup and a coke please. And for my man Adam a Big Mac and a Sundae."
Next are a girl and what Louis guesses is her boyfriend, judging from the shameless PDA they were showing of while Adam and the blonde were ordering.
"Hi," the girl smiles, pressed against her boyfriends chest as he is hugging her from behind, drunkily kissing her neck, which makes her giggle. "Just fries and a vanilla milkshake for us, thank you."
"Medium or large fries?"
"Mitch?" She asks, looking back at the guy, who shrugs. She repeats his action. "Large, please."
As she hands him the money and Louis sends their order to the kitchen, a last member of their group comes forward.
"H-hi." He stutters, cheeks rosey, probably from the alcohol he consumed tonight. "F-for me a-"
"Look at Styles stuttering!" An obnoxious loud laugh cuts the guy of, "Haz, you're blushing a bit, dude."
Styles, or Haz or whatever, quickly turns towards the blonde, the source of laughter, but instead of a shy or maybe angered reaction, the last member of their group cheekily pokes his tongue out as his friend, before turning back to Louis.
Dimples.
That's all Louis can see for a second, before he snaps out of it, shaking his head. "So, what do you want?"
"A date."
"Well, sadly that's not on the menu, now is it?"
"Then I guess I'll have a Happy Meal."
