Misunderstanding - Part I

One week and Johnny already felt guilty for exchanging messages with his ex-girlfriend after the argument he had with Yuri. They were drifting apart each day and he knew it was due to the misunderstanding that was about to tearing his friendship with the girl apart. Johnny wished he had the power to solve everything with a snap of fingers, his relationship with Yuri, his past, his parents, his absence from Jinwoo's life. There was also Jaehyun hiding something, however he hadn't yet returned from the business trip with his father.

Fortunately Jinwoo was healthy and, because of that, Johnny decided to do the diet his mother imposed; the fear that something would happen again to his little brother still scared him.

"I've been very busy. I'm sorry I postponed the last few times and only have time to eat lunch with you today" said Winwin.

"It's all good, well some other things happened..."

With his chin resting on his right hand while leaning on the table inside the diner he was with Winwin, Johnny waited for they're orders to be delivered while taking that time to tell his story to his chinese friend, but now without omitting anything.

"Wow, that's too much information" Sicheng seamed very confused. "Ok, then..." scratched his forehead. "You hid all of this during years and still didn't have a heart attack?"

"Believe me, I'm also impressed with myself."

"What surprises me the most is that you managed to hide it from Ten and Jaehyun."

"I didn't want to, but taking given how what I just told you, if my mother finds out that you guys know about this, I'm done for."

"And they already proved to us they can't keep secrets as well..."

Soon the waitress came over and handed over two plates full of chips with barbecue sauce, two gourmet hamburgers and their drinks.

"Thank you" Winwin smiled at the woman briefly.

"Look Johnny, I want to be mad at you, I really do. I actually am, but I can't judge you" took a chip to his mouth.

"I couldn't do anything, I was trapped, in fact I'm taking a big risk here you know?"

"Well... I also think your mom is hiding something."

"Why?"

"It's a little odd... I don't know, the way she controls your life doesn't seem to me to be just because of her job or your family's image."

"What do you mean?"

"I think she's using excuses for not telling you the truth."

"But that would only make me hate her more..."

As soon as he commented, Johnny quickly remembered his mother's call when Taeyong slept in his apartment. With a confused expression and somewhat stunned and distant, Johnny froze lost in thought. Soon, Sicheng, being concerned, coughed.

"So..."

"Hm?" Johnny looked up to meet his friend's.

"What are you going to do about Rebecca?"

"Oh... She still tells me to go to her house as usual. Well, of course, she is paying me to do so, so I do my part and she does hers. But even so, something is different..."

"Of course, she said you fooled her" Winwin finally paid attention to his hamburger.

"I didn't do that" Johnny expressed a disappointed pout. "I'm sure she is mistaken."

"How would anyone get mistaken considering what she told you?" he commented as soon as he swallowed. "She seems to be very sure."

"I know it's weird, but don't you think I would also remember?"

"I don't know... You don't seem to be that kind of person too... But well Johnny, I didn't know you back then to be so sure either."

"Wow, thank you so much Winwin."

"Sorry man, but something is missing in this story. She told you her side, but yours is a huge blur."

"What do you mean by that?"

"You just say you never kissed or did anything like that with her. So, even if it's a misunderstanding, something you did to make her so sure it was you."

"I really have no idea how it happened."

The two fell silent briefly as they stuffed themselves with that caloric lunch.

"Did you used to go to parties and get drunk?"

"Well, yes. I was a teenager, I wasn't very responsible back then, but I never caused or had any problems."

"Have you ever run into Rebecca at any of these parties?"

"Basically all of them after she went to study in Chicago. There was even one time" he smiled as he laughed softly "that she was wearing the same dress as Sea." He shook his head, bringing his last two chips to his lips. "Funny coincidence."

Sicheng then stared at him, squinting.

"What?"

"There's your misunderstanding."

"I don't get it."

"Congratulations, you stole a girl's first kiss for mistaking her for your now ex-girlfriend" he sighed indignantly.

"No, no, no, I didn't do that" started to laugh. "I mean, yes I kissed Sea at that party and, even though I was somewhat drunk, I remember confessing to her that day too. It's impossible I was mistaken. No, this is crazy."

"Are you sure, Johnny?"

Soon his laughter had ceased when he noticed his friend's expressions.

"Oh my God..." he put his hand to his forehead. "MY GOD!"

"That's one reason why alcohol scares me..." Winwin shook his head.

"WINWIN WHAT THE FUCK DID I DO!"

"There's no use shouting now."

"I'm the worst person on the planet...!" he covered his face, resting his elbows on the table."

"Yes, you were a jerk, but I wouldn't say it was that extreme" Sicheng took the straw against his mouth. "People say God forgives if you're trully sorry."

"She was really angry thinking that I did it on purpose, what if I tell her the truth...?!"

"It's best to hide all sharp and pointed objects when decide to do this."

"How do you apologize for something like that?" looked at Winwin desperately.

"It depends on what you said in that "confession" you made" shrugged.

"I said... That she was the love of my life and that I would love her forever."

"Damn Johnny, why you had to say something like that?" Sicheng frowned in bewilderment.

"She must think I'm a asshole."

"Jesus, fell in love for the first time and decided to make oaths of love while wasted. Now complains that it went wrong."

"I was just a teenager Winwin, I'm sorry okay." a sulky pout.

"Don't make promises you can't keep."

"What do I do now?"

"You know that the longer you take to tell her, the worse it will get, right?

"It got worse."

"What else did you do?!"

"Not me, it was her this time" Johnny waved his hands. "I think she likes me."

"Pfff..." Sicheng couldn't help laughing. "After all you did? Oh okay, of course, she loves you."

"Don't laugh, I'm serious! She kissed me thinking I was sleeping."

Winwin looked at him and then took a deep breath ready to finish eating his hamburger.

"Then you're really screwed."

"You were supposed to be helping me."

"Friend, the damage is already done" took a huge bite. "There's no painless solution anymore."

"Well, worse than that it can't g..."

He was interrupted by a desperate Sicheng and his mouth full.

"Don't finish that sentence! Bad luck is guaranteed if you say that!" he was with wide eyes.

"Jesus, you scared me for a second!"

"Your life is already upside down, what else do you want? Explode? Aish, seriously..."

"Ah..." Johnny released a long sigh. "I must've killed someone in my past life, I'm feeling it. I'm paying for my sin."

"Here we go again..."

They went silent till finish eating. Both thoughtful as people walked in and out of that diner until the waitress came to clear up their table and hand the bill over to Johnny. Before they got up, Winwin faced the other.

"Okay, now answer me, do you like Rebecca?"

"Wow, so suddenly?"

"Yes, so suddenly."

"Alright then..." he raised his hands in surrender. "But in what sense?"

"Do you see her as a friend or as a woman?"

"Hm..." Johnny squeezed the back of his neck briefly. "I don't know... Maybe a little bit of both?"

"So there's no way I can help you man..." he was already impatient. "You know, I hate you for making me do this."

"I do nothing."

"Last question, did you like it when she kissed you?"

"The hell?" Johnny couldn't help his desperate, embarrassed laugh.

"Come on, yes or no?" he crossed his arms.

Even though it was the first time that Sicheng was witnessing the scene of seeing Johnny embarrassed, he hated talking about such matters.

"It wasn't bad...? Yeah, it wasn't bad."

"So you like it?"

"I think... Maybe?"

"Great, think carefully about the answers you gave me and you'll know how to apologize to her" Winwin got up and took the bill.

"Hey, wait...!" he held Sicheng by the arm. "I thought it was on me today."

"You went through a lot on your own, let me feel better paying for your lunch at least?" an irritable grimace.

Johnny really felt better for revealing the truth to Winwin. However, there was something the boy had told him that he never stopped to think about before. Was his mother really honest with him? As he drove back to the building where he lived, he was wondering what could really be happening and what both she and his father kept from him, if there was anything really.

Going up as he watched the numbers slowly change on the elavator, Johnny had been caught off guard when the doors opened before his floor. To his surprise, he came across the woman he had met days ago. She still maintained her snobbish aura with dark sunglasses. To his greatest agony, Yuri was beside her. With desperate signs, the singer asked Johnny to be quiet.

"I'm on my way, take care and behave, please."

The woman commented as soon as she stood beside Johnny to take the elevator.

"Thank you for visiting, come back safely Miss Kim" Yuri bowed respectfully.

The doors closed and again Johnny was alone with that woman by the name Kim. He chose not to comment on anything, however, and as last time, it was she who spoke first.

"We meet again."

"Yes... Hello." a smile.

"I believe that now you know why I asked you all those questions back then, right?"

Johnny took a few seconds to think.

"Are you talking about Rebecca?"

"Now that you knows, I can have your assurance again that we won't have any problems in the future, right?" she looked at him through the black lens of her glasses.

She was a little intimidating, Johnny would deny it, but he felt trapped.

"Yes, I mean, we won't have any problems, miss."

"Great."

The doors opened and Johnny was free. He barely noticed, but he had held his breath for a few seconds while beside the woman. He said goodbye with a brief bow and fled from there trying not to look frightened or guilty of anything.

Yuri

Johnny? (14:23)>

Everything's ok? (14:23)>

He hung his Range Rover key with the others on the board next to the front door, and after taking off his sneakers, Johnny nearly threw himself into the sofa.

Johnny

<(14:24) Don't worry, nothing came out of my mouth

Yuri

Good, because she would be killing us now (14:24)>

Johnny

<(14:25) Is your manager that scary?

Yuri called him.

"Did she ask you anything?"

"Not really. She looked more like she was worried because she thought I might be one of those weird fans or something."

"I would even say this is good, but she will follow your every move from now on..."

"Don't worry, we are being cautious."

"Johnny."

"Yes?"

And then she was suddenly silent.

"Yuri...?"

No answer.

"Are you there?"

"It's nothing, never mind. Well, that was it."

"Wait, don't hang up...!"

"What, something happen?"

"No, it's just that... Can I go over there for a bit?"

Even if the issue about his mother was what bothered him most, Johnny needed to get proof of why he felt so good beside Rebecca. Perhaps Sicheng had opened his eyes a little more and all he needed now was to look at it from another angle.

"Okay..."
