Chapter 5

Okay, I'm not a boy, so I haven't the faintest idea of what goes through their brains, and frankly, I don't think I want to know. If the POV seems inaccurate or kind of stereotypically "girly" I apologize, because it isn't meant that way. Unlike the previous four chapters, I'm winging this one completely.

Cooper

I grumbled under my breath. Why did I, the alpha's son, have to check the cramped, cold prison AGAIN? Why couldn't he ask a beta or an omega to do it just this once? I stalked out of the Alpha House in need of a run. The instant I stepped outside, the fresh air made me feel better. I reached the edge of Moonshadow and walked into the woods. I stripped and shifted into Bo, my wolf, whose full name is Borealis.

He is as black as a moonless night, but his bright, yellow eyes make up for the absence of light on his pelt.

I flashed through the forest, fast and unbeatable, allowing Bo to take me wherever he wanted.

After about an hour of running and playing, I knew it was time to check the prison. I shifted and put my clothes back on, then I jogged all the way to the East Moonshadow Prison. Once there, I headed straight to the security room, where the computers displayed many angles of the jail. My eyes roamed the computers. Everything was functioning well.

Suddenly, I had this strange feeling. Without telling them to, my eyes drifted over to CAM14. I gasped.

Ava

I awoke groggily, the back of my head pounding in pain. My eyes took in the surroundings. I was in a small cell, lying on a filthy, tattered cot. At first, it took me a while to remember what had happened. My mind recalled a sharp, blinding light, and then a piercing impact of something heavy on the back of my skull, but nothing else.

As I recollected myself, a huge shadow momentarily blocked the light. The owner of the shadow was a huge, potato-shaped man with a thick, brown mustache glared down at me. "You there," he growled, his booming voice echoing down the grimy hall.

I snapped my head up, startled. "Me?"

"No, kitty, the girl sitting next to you."

I glanced beside me, provoking a roaring laugh from the man, whose name tag read 'Doug.' I saw nobody beside me. I turned back to Doug and was ready to punch him, but the cell bars blocked my way.

"Why am I here?" I hissed, trying to keep my temper in check.

"Because, kitty, when I shined my light on your eyes, they narrowed into slits. Only werecat eyes do that. Anyway, we are holding you for a ransom. A werecat's gotta pay a million big ones to get you out of this freak show, or you stay here forever. That's all there is to it."

"Stop calling me kitty," I growled. Then reality set in. A million dollars! Life sentence! Doug gave me zero time to freak out before continuing his monotonous drone.

"Stella will explain the way things run around here." He informed me. "STELLA! There's somebody new!"

A slender, tall-ish girl shuffled down the hall. She kept her eyes to the ground, but when she looked at me, her dark blue eyes burned with intelligence and will. She looked about my age, but her long, wavy black hair went almost down to her hips, for lack of better words, and it didn't even have a tangle. She sized me up as I did the same.

Doug broke the increasingly awkward silence. "Stella, you know what to do. Remember, you will bring her two meals a day." He left as suddenly as he entered, leaving the two of us standing there in an oasis of uncertainty.

"What brings you here?" She asked, her calm tone thinly veiling the curiosity that was definitely bubbling up inside of her.

That made me think. My memories of last night were slowly coming back. "I...felt this pull to the werewolf territory. I was so compelled to just come here, but now, I'm not sure why I felt that way."

Stella did though. Her eyes widened. "You felt a soul mate pull. You were arrested for following it, but the head of security won't care."

"What's the head of security's name?" I asked.

"I don't know his name, but his initials are D.S. They're on his office door down the hall." She responded. "That doesn't matter though. I have to get you out of here. You didn't do anything wrong."

"How, though?"

"I don't know, but trust me, we'll figure it out."

Thanks for reading! Okay, there is a reason why Stella wants so badly to help Ava. You will find out soon. Anyway, Stella is based off of my amazing friend keeper7sb.

YOLO!
