Chapter 20

Weeks pass. Maybe a month. I've given up hope. It seems we are going to be stuck in this world forever. I don't know if I can take it any longer. Meeting up with Manus everyday, having him kiss me... touch me. Although he hasn't taken things too far, my body still feels dirty and violated.

He tells me that over time my innocence with turn into experience. He doesn't realize that I don't want to him to touch me or kiss me. The other day I tried to tell him but his wolf started to get angry. I didn't want to push him too far. Especially after Mom's warning. I don't want to get physically hurt. I'm already broken down emotionally but physical pain will take me over the edge.

I lie in the dark cell surrounded by silence. Georgia must be asleep because I can hear the light steady breaths coming from her direction. I can't sleep. My mind keeps racing. Every time I close my eyes I end up having a nightmare about Manus.

I feel selfish, but I miss Jayden. My heart aches for him to be near me but I don't know if I would be able to look him straight in the eye again. Once he finds out about Manus, he will definitely choose Ashley over me. I mean why wouldn't he? It's not like she ever kissed another guy while they were together, she is the Beta's daughter, she is head over heels in love with him, and she is a full werewolf. Not to mention she has the body of a goddess and I was a bitch to him before I disappeared. Why would he choose someone like me over someone like her? He wouldn't.

I rest my head on my arm and let out a silent cry. What happened? Things were just starting to work themselves out back home. Now it's all ruined. I've been gone so long that Jayden has probably already forgotten about me and moved onto Ashley, realizing her full potential.  Plus his dad would be happy with that choice.

Suddenly the door opens and I look up through teary eyes to see Hank standing there. I wipe my eyes dry as he approaches me. He bends down to undoes my chains and handcuffs my wrists, the normal.

I stand from the ground and follow him out of the room. I glance down and see Georgia still sleeping. She looks so peaceful, so young, so carefree. Not a bruise to be seen on her body, thank god.

I follow Hank. He leads me up the stairs and outside. That's when I notice that the day is ending and the sun is beginning to set. He usually brings me out during the day. I wonder what Manus has planned for me now. I sigh and continue my trek toward the trees. Right at the edge of the woods, there is a small picnic blanket set up with some candles surrounding it.

Hank allows me to walk the rest of the way by myself. I meet Manus at the blanket. He smiles happily and walks over to me. He leans down and kisses me on the lips. I feel my stomach turn in disgust but I ignore it. The feeling is all too familiar.

"Please, my dear. Sit."

He motions for me to sit on the picnic blanket. I comply with his wishes without saying a word. He sits down next to me and opens up the basket he has. He pulls out a bottle of wine and pours two glasses. He offers me one and I take it from him. I take a small sip and put it down.

Then he grabs a sandwich and splits it in half. He gives me one and takes the other half for himself.

"Eat." He says.

I do as I'm told and eat the sandwich. I struggle to keep it down but I manage. The thought of food isn't that appealing, especially when I'm with Manus.

"I wanted us to have a romantic evening together. Do you like it?" He asks.

"Yes." I say quietly.

"You have been a woman of little words lately." he states.

I just look at him and keep quiet. He smiles and closes the basket, moving it to the side.

"I can't say I don't like it." he says.

He inches closer to me. I feel my body begin to go numb again. The feeling of him around me repulses me so much. I can't even fathom my distaste for him.

As he gets close he brings his hand to my chin and turns me to face him. He glances down at my mouth again and I start to go completely numb. He places his lips on mine and I just sit there.

After a moment he pushes me toward the ground, laying me flat on my back. Slowly I feel his hand trail up my side, going under my shirt and toward my bra. My body is completely repulsed but this isn't the first time this has happened. I find myself wanting to struggle but my muscles feel so worthless and weak.

He tries to deepen the kiss. I continue to sit there, unmoving. He manages to slip his tongue into my mouth. I feel my stomach churn.

"Manus!" A voice shouts in the distance.

A growl erupts from Manus's throat and he glares at out intruder, leaning up. I look up to see Hank watching him nervously.

"What is it Hank, I told you not to bother me."

"I know sir... It's just." his eyes shoot toward the ground, "We are um... under attack."

"What!?" Manus hisses and stands from the blanket marching over to Hank.

My heart pumps quickly as this unusual feeling of adrenaline pumps through my blood. I think there's also a trickle of hope in there as well. If a rival pack is attacking them, now is my chance to escape. I need to get Georgia and get out of here as soon as possible. It's now or never.

Manus and Hank continue to argue a few feet in front of me. I take this time to slip away. I sprint toward the familiar building and enter it as fast as possible. I find the hall I normally use to get to and from my cell. Lucky for me, I know this place like the back seat f my hand. I tip toe down the stairs. Peaking around the corner, I find the guard on duty asleep. I slip down the hall silently. Sneakily, I walk up to his sleeping figure and slip my hand into his pocket, pulling out the keys from his jacket.

There are several keys on the ring and I don't know which one is the one to the door. Suddenly there are footsteps. I quickly turn and run to hide in a small indent in the wall, opposite side of the hallway from the stairs.

I hear Hank's voice, "You nitwit, get up."

I hear a grumble followed by, "What happened?"

"Our prisoners escaped and we are under attack, get your lazy ass up and come help us." Hank yells.

"Yes sir." The guard says.

I hear the sound of their feet puttering away into the distance. I give it a few seconds before I peek around the corner to make sure no one is there. The coast is clear!

I run up to the cell door and try every key. Finally the sixth key works and I manage to get the door open. Light pools into the room and Georgia looks up at me shocked. I run to her side and fumble with the keys, trying to find the ones that unlocks her chains.

I manage to get both her wrists free and one of her ankles. I move onto the last lock when I hear feet coming our way. Georgia looks up at me with terror in her eyes and I start to fumble the keys even more. My shaky hands struggle with the keys but none seem too work.

"Go without me." Georgia whispers.

I frown and try one last key. I hear a small clink, and the shackle falls to the floor. I grab her arm and pull her out of the door and toward the small hole in the wall that I hid in before.

The feet grow closer and closer and finally they land on the ground near the cell.

"Dammit! What the hell happened here? Where did the other one go? Tell Hank to get the patrol." The guard from earlier says.

"But Dan, we are under attack. We can't send people off on a scavenger hunt."

"I would rather face the attackers than face Manus when he is angry." Dan says.

The other guy thinks for a moment. He must agree with Dan because I hear both sets of feet run up the stairs.

"Sophia, let's get these handcuffs off of you." She says and reaches for the set of keys in my hand.

I shake my head and say, "We can't, Hank has the keys for these. Only he can undo it."

She looks at me sympathetically and drops the keys to the floor. Then her face turns to that of determination.

"Let's get the hell out of here then."

I nod in agreement and peek around the corner. The coast is clear. Since I know my way around better, I lead Georgia up the stairs. We get up to the first floor when I hear the front door slam open followed by vicious snarls.

"Crap." I say. I try to look for an escape, but the only way is up.

I sprint up the stairs to the next floor and I hear Georgia right behind me. I glance right and left in the upstairs hallway and notice there is no one here. I take the liberty of running out into the hall and entering the room at the end. Georgia and I shut the door behind us.

"Help me move this bookshelf." I say quickly.

She nods and helps me move the bookshelf in front of the door. I quickly glance around the room and look for an escape. I see two windows. I run up to the first and try to unlock it, unfortunately, it needs a key. I run over to the second one and it is the same.

"What do we do? They are locked."I say and turn around.

I gasp as I see Georgia holding a thick golden flag pole. She smirks and motions for me to move. I do as I'm told and she rams into the window hard. The glass begins to crack and I smile. She's a genius.

Suddenly I hear wolves growling and fighting viciously in the hallway. Some begin to claw at the door. We need to hurry.

I look at Georgia frantically and she nods. She rams the window two more times and it finally shatters open. The force of the shatter throws Georgia off balance and she falls head first toward the now open window. I catch her arm just in time, preventing her from plummeting down to the ground. Unfortunately we weren't able to save the flag pole and it falls to the ground with a giant thud.

Both Georgia and I explore our options of getting out. We can either just jump and hope for the best, or try to jump onto the side roof and make our way to a step ladder. I choose route two.

"Head for the roof?" Georgia asks.

"Yes ma'am." I say.

Georgia climbs onto the windowsill and looks nervously at the roof. Granted, it isn't a far distance, it is just a weird angle. She gets into her pre jumping position. She takes a deep breath than says, "Here goes nothing."

She leaps toward the roof. She manages to get two hands and one foot onto the roof. She pulls herself up the rest of the way and looks at me expectantly. I take a deep breath and hop onto the windowsill. Well if Georgia can do it, so can I.

Suddenly I hear wood snap and the bookshelf tips over. Loud snarls fill the room as wolves cluster in one by one. One sees me and runs at me full speed. I scream and jump toward to roof.

I'm mid air when I realize one of two things, one, the wolf jumped out after me but missed my leg and two, I misjudged my angle.

My hands scrape the roof but I can't seem to get a good grip. Georgia runs down after me but it's too late, I loose what little hold I had on the roof and fall toward the ground.

I let out a piercing cry and cover my eyes. I've never fallen off of a two story building before, but I can imagine it is going to hurt.

After about five seconds passing, I realize I haven't reached ground yet. Or did I just die?

I open my eyes and see the ground beneath me, yet I'm not touching it. It's as if I'm hovering. I shakily reach my foot out to touch the ground. When I do touch it, the rest of my body falls to the floor with a thump. How did I manage that? I quickly stand and move toward the ladder to help Georgia down.

At least that's what I was hoping to do before I noticed a giant dark brown werewolf standing in my way. His eyes bear into my soul.

It's Manus.
