When playing Pokemon Gold and Silver, fans went nuts when they saw Trainer Red at the top of Mt. Silver. Seeing his team, they were awe-struck. It contained a Pikachu, Venasuar, Charizard, Blastoise, Snorlax, and Espeon.

Each of these Pokemon have a special quality to them. Pikachu, Venasuar, Blastoise, and Charizard being references to the four original games you could play (Yellow, Green, Blue, and Red). His Snorlax can only be found when you play the PokeFkute to wake it up, and there were no other available Snorlax in the original games. And Espeon is his only Pokemon from Gen 2, and can only be received by receiving an Eevee at the top of a building in Celadon City.

However, in HeartGold and SoulSilver, Espeon was replaced with a Lapras, a Pokemon that can only be given to the player by a scientist at Silph Co.
