It is said that Jynx, Electabuzz, and Magmar were original supposed to be part of a special little trio. Not legendary trio, but special trio.

After-all, they each have certain typings. Jynx being Ice, Electabuzz being electric (obviously), and Magmar being Fire.

And, In Generation 2, they were each given "baby Pokemon" or pre-evolutions. Jynx was given Smoochum, Electabuzz was given Elekid, and Magmar was given Magby.

However, in Generation 4, Jynx seemed to have been dropped from the trio because it was not given an evolution, like Electrabuzz and Magmar had. Electabuzz was given Electivire, and Magmar was given Magmortar (one of my favorite Fire-Types.)
