Chapter 7

Sakura's POV

Argo, Asia, and Sanada continued to sprint while I froze in my tracks. I wasn't sure why, but I looked back, feeling as if something was off. My eyes squinted, and as they did, I swore I saw a huge creature of sorts tearing through the higher parts of the place we were at. It shrieked, making me wonder if I should've stayed back where we were rather than go down the lake that was over flooding. That seemed more like Sanada's expertise anyways, being that he could manipulate the water and use it to his advantage.

No. I wasn't sure if I would be in the right headspace to help up there. For starters, Raiden stuck up there, and the guy didn't even get any of my hints to show off to Tami. He could've carried her backpack whenever we went hiking or even asked her how her day was. No. As always, the guy was so dense and didn't really care. If it wasn't for Kita, he might not have even shown off his strength. Because it was a strength test against Kita, Tami didn't even notice!

Then there was Kita being oblivious to the two guys clearly making a move on her, trying everything they could to get her attention. Poor Mori has been hit badly by cupid's arrow, trying to get her attention since the very first day of school. Part of me wished he would just stop, but another part of me wanted him to be happy too. If that meant that those two would be together, then so be it.

But Kita never got the hint, not even when Ale decided to flirt with her for everyone to see. Hell! Even Tami could notice!

What was the point of even coming here if I couldn't get anyone paired up!?

"Sakura! Watch out!"

I was so distracted by my own thoughts I didn't even notice the water levels rising as fast as they did. My head snapped back where I had heard the voice. The moment I did, a hand wrapped around my wrist and yanked me up. Things went by so fast that when my brain started to process everything, I felt myself sitting on something fluffy. Looking down, I noticed the water crashing through the ground I was standing moments ago.

If I had been standing there for a second longer, I might have been a goner.

"You know, I did warn you," Asia commented. I glanced up, noticing her sitting in a tree with her hands and feet both balanced on the branch. Her blue hair was still combed over her shoulder. Loose strands tried making their way out of it, but she secured her hair much better than mine.

Gosh, I must've looked like a total mess right now, I thought to myself. The wind was starting to pick up, causing my own to fly all over the place. I quickly wrapped my arms around myself, feeling the goosebumps spreading up and down them. For once, I wish I had taken someone's advice and worn a sweatshirt instead of the short, forest green romper I wore, but it was just so cute!

There was a slight chuckle coming from the distance. Immediately, I could rule out Asia and Argo from being the culprit, being that I could see both of them in my line of sight. Turning my head, I found my blue-haired classmate, Sanada, crouching on top of the water. His arms were brushing against the water as he did, almost as if he was surfing.

Well, guess he was. The only thing missing was a surfboard.

"Calm down. We're all good. We have bigger problems to worry about right now," the boy explained.

I opened my mouth to say something, to see the water behind him rising up in the air, blocking out all the trees behind it. Whatever I was going to say about the situation was going to have to be put on hold as our friend needed to be warn.

"Sanada, behind you!" I shouted.

Unlike me, the blue haired boy was quick on his feet. He whisked his hand around, turning his whole body with it. Once faced with the gigantic tidal wave, the boy swiftly moved his hands to part the wave into two, revealing a person standing on the water behind it with arms crossed over the chest.

"Tha-that was a-a close one," Argo breathed beside me, oblivious to the problem literally standing in front of us.

A villain who could control water, I realized. No wonder why so much strange stuff was going on at once! Gosh damn it! Not only is this going to end up ruining with my clothes and make-up, but we were clearly unmatched here.

Sure, Argo and Sanada could technically be somewhat of a decent opponent, but what about Asia and me? We had to completely rely on Argo to stay out of the water. Teamwork might work, but glancing over at Argo's comfortable expression melted into one where he bit his bottom lip, I wasn't sure.

To think this camping couldn't get any worse. I should've known better.

The arms' of the villain lifted up into the air, and with it, all the water started to lift off the ground. Argo quickly lifted both of us up higher with his Cloud Quirk while I saw Asia leap from tree branch to tree branch as if it was nothing.

Guess the only person who was useless here was me. At least, I was when it came to where I could move.

"Hey, Argo," I shouted, catching the purple-haired boy's attention. "Mind if you do me a quick favor and get me behind that guy?"

Argo nodded his head, and with it, the cloud I was on swooped in the air. As long as I could move closer, I might have been able to use my vines and--

My path was blocked by a tidal wave that pushed me off the cloud Argo created. A squeal left my lips as I tumbled down to the water below. I knew there was no hope using my vines as I wouldn't know where it would go. By some miracle I could get it wrapped around a branch before I crashed, who knew who if it'd hit one of my friends in the process.

Luck was on my side though. I felt the coolness of water wrap around my body, but it didn't pull me down. It was more like I had brushed it for a moment before floating back to the surface. I didn't realize I had my eyes squeezed shut until I peeled them open, noticing I was sitting on top of the water. Sanada was in the corner of my eye, moving his one hand to control the water around me.

"Can you all do me a favor, and get out of here?" the villain asked in a bored tone. My head snapped up to see the person twirling a piece of blue hair between two fingers. "Everyone else has. So, unless you want to die, now might be the time to run."

Running wasn't something any of us planned on doing. How could we? We were heroes in training! If we did that, then we would've been a poor excuse of a hero.

"In your dreams," I scowled.

I threw my arm up into the air, releasing a thick vine from my elbow. It wrapped around my lower arm and shot straight towards the nearest branch. Once it latched onto it, I pulled myself up and flung my other arm out to release another vine, only this one was adorned with sharp thorns that dug into my arm, cutting my skin in the process. If this was how it felt on me, then I knew that was how it was going to feel on the villain.

Only, it was going to be worse once it wrapped around his skin.

Argo used his cloud to fly past me. Seconds later, I saw Asia riding on a cloud after him. I could see Sanada using his Quirk to stop whatever waves the villain would sent our ways. It wasn't enough as it nearly knocked Argo and Asia off the clouds they were riding on. The only good thing was that my vine could cut through the water, disappearing inside. I could feel it stretching, but I couldn't tell how far it was going.

Soon, the water twisted upwards. With it, my vines stretched towards the sky. I pulled my arm back, retracting the vine that scratched my arm. If I didn't, there was no doubt in my mind the vine would've slashed through Argo's or Asia's clouds that they were flying on.

My eyes watched as Asia stood on her cloud, trying to figure a way to jump over the wall that was towering over us all. The only problem--which I was certain she knew--was not knowing what was on the other side. Sure, she could kick the villain, but then where would she land? If Argo or Sanada weren't there to save her, she'd be doomed. That was the last thing we'd need.

"Guys, I think I have an idea," Sanada's voice called everyone's attention. While Argo and Asia floated back towards us, I noticed the purple haired teen made another cloud and floated it towards me, allowing me to withdraw my vine back into my arms and fall onto the soft cloud below.

It was strange how soft it felt.

"Does your plan have something with getting over that water wall?" Asia asked. "Because if we can't get over that, we can't fight."

Argo nodded his head in agreement. "An-and who knows when th-that villain will st-start a-attacking again."

I frowned, hating hearing how right they were. We were currently where a lake should've been, but this villain was creating water in a way that made it over flood and come up that we couldn't go over or around it. There was no way of going through or under either without being at a huge disadvantage. Not when Sanada seemed to hardly be able to control it.

But Sanada said he had a plan. At this point, I was willing to try anything, so I looked away from Asia and Argo to look the blue-haired teen in the eye.

"What do you have in mind?" I asked.

Sanada smiled. "I think I can get through. When I do, and can get the water wall down, you all will have to attack from different angles. If one of us can just get close enough to attack, then we might be able to end this."

"How do you plan to get over there?" Asia's voice was skeptical when she asked.

The boy smirked before his body liquified and melted into the water. I was already happy to be on a cloud to stay out of the water, but now, I was even more happy not knowing where that boy was inside. Not that Sanada would be that type of person, but I wasn't exactly close enough to him to know.

"G-guess we'll find out," Argo sighed before sending us to different areas of the wall. Asia flew the highest part of it, knowing that the second she could get over it, she could jump and kick the villain with her powerful legs. I was further left, wrapping my vines around my arms, feeling the itching sensation overtake my nose.

Argo was nowhere to be found, so I assumed he was behind us, guiding where our clouds floated. I could've been wrong, but I didn't have time to question it. Right now, our focus was on the villain.

We waited until the wall of water started to crash down to start flying towards the villain. Sanada was nowhere to be found, but the villain was facing away from us. With the villain's eyes off of us, we flew in for the attack. My vines stretched out in front of me, grabbing the villain's arms while Asia flew up in the air and dove down, landing her kick right on the man's upper back. She was able to fling back and land on another cloud that was formed just for her before launching another attack.

Meanwhile, I tried pulling the villain away to push them into the water. For a quick moment, it looked like Sanada's plan was working. That was until the villain glanced over at me. The once blue eyes glowed, and the water around us started to turn.

"I gave you guys one last warning," the villain's voice echoed, as if it wasn't coming right from the mouth, but rather through the water itself. "Guess you kids just need to learn the hard way."

The tight grip I had with my vines disappeared as the villain liquified and melted into the water. My heart stopped. Would Sanada be able to handle the villain if they were both liquified in the water? How were we going to help him defeat this villain if we didn't know where this guy was?

That was when the water shot up, throwing Argo, Asia, and me into the air. I braced myself with my vines, but it was useless as the water tightened around my body, pulling my arms in close to my body. It took everything in me to look around, finding all three of my friends dealing with the same fate. Argo and Asia were furthest away from me while I could hardly make out Sanada's blue hair in the upward stream of water beside me.

How was it even possible that this villain was able to capture Sanada in his liquid state? I turned my head to see the villain's lower body submerged into the water, head shaking.

"Now, unless you guys know where I can find the precious ore around here, I think it's time to just say goodbye for good," the villain sneered.

The water that wrapped around us started to climb up towards our necks. It didn't take long to know the plan was to drown us all right there and then. If we didn't do anything fast, we would never make it back home. At least, not alive. There was no way I was going to die out in the middle of freaking nowhere! I was too young for that.

In the corner of my eye, I could see Sarada's blue hair melt away once more. Seeing it made me realize he was going to need a lot more help if he was going to get away with that same old trick again.

I craned my neck to keep it out of the water as much as possible. The water might have held my body still, but I could still feel everything in tact. It took everything inside of me to envision my vines, but I could eventually feel them poking out. My neck stretched out above the water as much as I could until I could see the villain standing in front of me.

"Hey! Over here!" I yelled. "We're not done fighting yet!"

The villain lifted an eyebrow as their lips twitched upward into a smirk. "Oh really? You think your little vine can distract me?"

As soon as those words were left in the air, I could feel the color leaving my skin.

So much for a surprise attack, I thought to myself. But that wasn't the point of this. No. I just needed to distract this villain long enough to distract.

And luckily, seeing a wave of water behind the villain with Sanada riding on top of it, I knew it was just enough time.

"Obviously," I claimed, "because you're not that smart."

On that note, Sanada sent his wave crashing down on the villain. While this villain claimed that I couldn't distract him long enough, I apparently could as the water that was up to my chin fell. I was lucky Argo was quick on his feet and created a cloud to catch me once again. My vines didn't even make it past my toes, but I was okay with that, especially since it gave the rest of my friends time to finish the job.

Argo and Asia flew towards the villain. The girl with the rabbit-like ears sprung into action to send another powerful kick right into the villain's chest. I could tell the villain wanted to fight back, but for some reason, their blue eyes started to grow heavy. It wasn't long after that until the villain fell unconscious, and with it, I noticed the water slowly starting to lower.

Argo created another cloud to carry the villain on. It wasn't long after that when we floated back to solid ground. I didn't even want to look at my reflection in the water because I was afraid of what horrible mess I would've come face to face with. Though, glancing over at Sanada, I knew I couldn't have looked that bad. For someone who was always cheerful and full of energy, he didn't say a word. All he could do the moment we made it back to the surface was sit down. Even that wasn't enough to keep him from swaying from side to side.

We're going to have to get him back to where Tami and the others are to heal, I thought to myself. Sanada might have been in his element, but he still pushed himself to his limit.

Everyone did.

I glanced over towards the villain who was lying unconscious on the ground. Argo probably was going to use his Quirk again to carry him back, but that didn't explain one thing.

"Does anyone else find it strange that this villain just passed out?" I asked. "Because I literally thought we were going to be goners for a moment."

Asia patted her friend on the back, sporting a broad smile. "That's because Argo here used his Quirk when we were all trapped."

My head snapped to Argo, clearly confused. Luckily, I didn't have to say a word for him to realize there needed to be more of an explanation.

"Sometimes, my clouds are...like, they explore a different meaning, sort of like how some people are able to use the spiritual elements of their quirks. That part of my quirk is just being able to put people to sleep. Slowly, I mean," Argo explained as his cheeks tinged pink from embarrassment.

"Now that's impressive!" I exclaimed. "You're going to make an excellent hero someday. All of you guys are!"

"Th-thanks," Argo whispered.

Our smiles didn't last long as our eyes turned to look at the villain laying down on the ground. During the beginning of our encounter, something came out of their mouth that was particularly alarming. They didn't come alone. I knew immediately that it meant that all of the chaos going around us were not natural; they were coming from other people, looking for something.

We split off earlier to address what was going on, but seeing how hard it was for the four of us to handle just one villain, I wondered how they were all doing. Were they all safe from what was going on, or were they handling something much worse than we did?

As much as I hated to say it, I wished I knew what was going on with everyone. Would Raiden, Kita, and the Mochizuki siblings be okay? What about Tami? All of us were Pro Hero students except her. Sure, I remember her staying close with some other hero students who could protect her, but would that be enough?

Then, a mortifying thought came into my head. Mori was helping out in the area that had been engulfed in flames alongside Jasper, Hinata, and Ale. I knew he'd get along with Jasper and Hinata, but seeing how things went on between Mori, Ale, and Kita, I wondered if they would be able to keep it together.

"We're going to need to take them away from here," Asia claimed. "Maybe get Sanada some help."

Her words snapped me out of my thoughts. Now wasn't the time to worry about my friends. Right now, we had other important things to get to, like making sure this villain stayed out of trouble and Sanada got some serious help. Our other friends could take care of themselves.

Couldn't they?
