I remember starting my book where one of the characters is kinda rude, especially in the beginning because that is how he needed to be (I'll probably start posting some chapters by June/July 🤞🏼).

The comes our main girl and she is super sweet, talkative and within nine chapters he is already less rude to her and I remember thinking 'oh my gosh, is he developing too fast' and you know what I realized?

No...he isn't.

By chapter 9 he still tries to maintain distance, is a bit blunt and sometimes borderline rude if he's in a mood, but he is also nicer and that's okay, because think about it...

If you have a character that is rude to everyone and someone goes out of their way to be nice to them and they're STILL rude, why would you even want to spend more time with them.

In my opinion if a character is constantly rude despite someone being nice to them, I think that they're a bad person. I'd personally give up on trying to get to know the bad boy.

But! If he shows signs that he is actually nice, I'd try harder to break his shell.

I think people make their characters unnecessarily rude at times and Miss Sunshine just takes it in her stride.

That doesn't happen.

If you're rude to me for no apparent reason, I will call you out on it or be really sarcastic about your behaviour.

Mr Grumpy doesn't have to like everyone, he doesn't have to hate everyone either and he DEFINITELY doesn't have to be so freaking rude for no reason.
