Some advice

So, I'm just gonna give you fellow artist readers some advice that I think will be helpful, hopefully.

Allow yourself to make bad art-

Now by this, I don't mean be completely lazy and not putting any effort into a piece, but recognize that not getting it perfect.
Is perfectly fine
Allow yourself to be a loose canon for a while, no one starts out perfect at doing every position, every landscape. Allow yourself room to grow instead of getting it perfect the first try.
Making bad art is how you get on the road to making good art.

doodle

This is one of the most important things on this list.
Doodle, a lot.
Now a bunch of you may be saying "but I don't know how to doodle..."

THAT'S IT

YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO THINK WHILE DOING IT!

Even drawing stars at the edge of your paper in math class is doodling.
If you're ever stuck, allow yourself to just doodle. Outfit ideas, eyes, faces, whatever you like! Fill a whole page with doodles!
I do this a lot and it really helps.

Take constructive criticism

Take it whenever and wherever you can get it, because it'll be rare.

Do peer evaluations.

This kinda pairs along with the other one previously mentioned.
You'll see this a lot in college, and even in school. It's where your peers judge your work and give you pointers.
Maybe you didn't notice that medusa's left breast is slightly bigger then the right.
When we look at something we're proud of, it's hard to find its faults, this is why peer evaluation is so important.

If you don't have any artist friends, try stepping back from your work and looking at it from far away, sometimes we get so caught up in detail we forget the big picture, especially in painting.

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE YOUR JOB!

This one is VERY important.
You don't have to do art as your main source of income, in fact, I wouldn't recommend it.
Pursue art if you want! That's awesome!!!
But keep in mind that you're going to have to compete with a lot of people, one of the greatest comic book artists of all time worked at a hospital for all of his life, and did art on the side.
Find your interests!
I for one would love to go into genetics, or earth sciences.
I'm most likely going to keep art as a hobby, since I don't really know if I wanna go full time.

If you want to keep art as your main job, DON'T LET ME DISCOURAGE YOU!

GO OUT THERE AND KICK ASS!!

And finally the biggest one of all...

keep trying.

You're not gonna get it the first time, and that's ok.
Keep trying out different mediums and kinds of art, EXPLORE!!
ALWAYS KEEP TRYING!
Maybe one medium doesn't work for you, then try another!
I don't like sticking to one medium because then I feel very limited in what I can use.

JUST TRY NEW STUFF
KEEP TRYING OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT!!

TRY TRY TRY!!
