Part 27

I couldn't sleep well the whole night, I just felt really bothered because of the way Arnav acted today, I couldn't just stop overthinking it. It hurt much worse than I even showed.

I wished he could at least talk to me, just once and maybe it would make things way easier between us but he dint want to and as much as it was bothering me, I wasn't going to force it.

I had moved to Mumbai to move on and I was going to do that, if he wanted to pretend like he was a stranger to me, I was going to do the same.

I stepped out of the shower feeling tired instead of refreshed, I wish I could stop overthinking everything and just sleep peacefully for a while but I couldn't, now I knew the day at work was going to be hectic and I was going to be really tired, more than I already was.

I was going to have to take sleeping pills tonight if I start overthinking again, I don't even remember the last time I slept peacefully since Arnav left.

I got dressed quickly and left for work hoping to keep myself busy with it so my mind wouldn't be free to think about anything else.

I arrived earlier than Yug, so I headed straight to my office, grabbed the magazines that were on my table and started going through them.

A few minutes later, Yug walked in and greeted me, he seemed really happy. Was he always in good moods? Why couldn't I be like that? Always happy?

"Good morning you." He smiled

"Good morning" I faked a smile back.

"Okay, time to get to work, we have a lot of work to do, come I'll show you what you have to do and we can start working.

I followed Yug back to his table, he showed me some work and what I had to do then handed me the documents as I returned back to my seat and started doing it while he did some other work.

I was kind of glad I had so much work to do because it meant my mind would have time to think about Arnav.

*****

I was so busy in my work, I wouldn't have even eaten lunch if Yug hadn't come to remind me that it was lunch time, so I gave myself a short break and headed to have lunch with him.

We both got our plates and food and settled down to eat, hopefully I was going to sleep well tonight as I already had lack of sleep and today, I was literally so tired.

"You've been quite busy huh?" Yug smiled at me.

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting to get so busy so soon." I laughed.

"Yeah, it was too much workload for me that's why I suggested we hire an assistant."

"Yeah I can imagine you doing that all alone plus another extra work."

"At least now you're here to handle some of it, at least I'll have a bit of time to relax." He smiled.

I nodded as I continued eating, we both ate silently for a while, I couldn't stop noticing how everyone else around us was looking at us weirdly as if we had committed a crime or something.

"So are you settled?" Yug asked.

"Yeah kind of... everything had been arranged before I came, the only thing I need is to do some grocery shopping and I don't know where to start." I said.

I was new here and I dint have any friends I dint even know where to go to buy stuff, I really needed to find new friends to take me around the city and show me stuff.

"What am I here for? Make a list of the things you want, I'll show you where you can get it from after work, is that okay?"

"You sure? You must be having other stuff to do?"

"Not really, I'm just having dinner tonight at home with Arnav and his friend or girlfriend, I don't know who that girl is but I don't like her much, she's so clingy to him, sometimes it seems like he doesn't like it either." Yug laughed.

"Okay then I'll make a list." I smiled pretending that finding out Arnav had a friend who was a girl wasn't bothering me. Was she just a friend or a girlfriend?

Was that why he was acting like he dint know me? Because he had found someone else to replace me?

I didn't want to let it bother me, but I couldn't stop thinking about it, was it so easy for him to replace me? To forget our childhood friendship? He told me he loved me since forever, where did that love go now?

"I should get back to work." I said to Yug as I stood up and left immediately, a part of me wanted to cry, but I convinced myself I wasn't going to, I had to be strong, I had to not let it bother me because he had clearly stopped caring about me.

I settled down in my cabin and buried myself in work again, but that time it didn't work, I wouldn't stop feeling hurt.

When was this going it end? I was tired of it honestly, all I wanted was for this pain to end now.

"Calm down Khushi, it's okay." I said to myself as I inhaled deep breaths trying to make myself better.

I plugged in earphones to my laptop, played some relaxing music on YouTube while I continued working, hoping if nothing else, this could help me.

A few minutes later, the door opened up and Yug peeped in so I looked at him.

"Hey, don't stress yourself much okay, it's too much work but not urgent. Do it slowly and take breaks in between." He smiled.

"I will." I nodded.

"Is everything okay Khushi? You've been looking really stressed since morning? Did someone say something to you?" He asked.

"No... nothing like that."

"You can if there's any problem you can talk to me, we don't know each other enough to trust each other but I am there if you need someone to talk to."

"I am fine, just some personal problems." I smiled faintly.

"Okay... don't forget to make that list. I'll get back to work." He sighed as he walked back to his chair, sat down and started working immediately.

*****

After work, Yug and I headed to shop for all the stuff I needed, I was so glad that I was working with him, I have no idea how I would have done all this by myself, it was pretty hard to adjust in this city especially if you dint know anyone else.

We shopped for almost two hours but at least I got everything I wanted, our last stop was at the supermarket so I could get some snacks for myself, other stuff we had bought from some shops which sold it cheaper than the supermarket.

I laughed at Yug when he told me he knew where to find things cheaper than they were in the supermarket, it was funny.

"Anytime you need anything let me know okay?" he said to me as we walked through the shelves trying to find snacks.

"Sure." I nodded.

"Okay let's get this done with quickly, I've got to reach home or Arnav will kill me if I'm not on time for dinner." He said.

I wish he wouldn't have mentioned him, everything was going so well until now, but every time I was reminded of Arnav, it was like my whole world fell apart.

I grabbed the snacks in a hurry put them all in the trolley and headed to the counter to pay for them, once we were done, Yug helped me carry the bags to the parking lot.

We stuffed everything inside his car and then got inside as he started driving.

"Stop!" I said as I looked straight ahead of me.

He pulled the brakes immediately, as soon as the car stopped I stepped out and ran towards the direction I saw her, I was so sure I just saw Tanvi walking out of the parking lot. I tried to catch up to her but she vanished, I was so sure it was her though, my eyes couldn't have mistaken it.

I walked back to the car when I couldn't find her and got inside once again.

"What happened? You scared the hell out of me." Yug said.

"I am sorry, I just thought I saw someone." I apologized.

"It's okay, let's get you home." He said as he drove off. If Tanvi was here, she definitely knew Arnav was here right? Why didn't she call me and tell me?

Or maybe she dint know, I mean Mumbai was a pretty big city even if she was here it doesn't mean she must have met Arnav, maybe I should call her later tonight and ask her.

I was sure about one thing though, it was her that I saw, there was no way I could mistake it.
