Part 24
What could I say about Mumbai, it was a busy city, it never slept. Everyone kept rushing from here to there in their busy lives.
Maybe this was the right place for me to come, it was busy it would keep me busy, I dint want to think about Arnav anymore.
I tried everything in my power, to look for him, to try and make things better for the both of us, but it seemed like he dint want to make things better and I wasn't going to force him to make things better.
Until now, I was trying to understand him and understand that it was my fault so it was okay to be mad at me, what I couldn't understand is why he left just like that, with no closure.
Of course, I get it, I had hurt him, he dint want anything to do with me, so he should have told me that on my face instead of just leaving. I swear I was so mad at him for leaving without even saying goodbye.
Why did I always keep talking about Arnav though? Wasn't this supposed to be a new start? So new rules for a new start, don't mention Arnav at all! End of story.
The car stopped outside a tall building, I stepped out along with Kajal, I finally managed to ask her name when she came to pick me up today.
I looked at the huge building in front of me and couldn't believe that I was actually going to work here, it was such a big company with so many employees, it seemed like a task, one that I couldn't do in these heels I chose to wear today.
But hey, I was going to work in Mumbai and some people here took fashion way to seriously, plus I was going to work in a fashion design company, I had to dress like it, I dint want to show up at work looking different that everyone else, I mean even Kajal was dressed so properly when I saw her, I was glad I decided to go for a black official dress and with heels.
It wasn't much fashionable but at least it wasn't something horrible either.
"Ready for you first day?" She looked at me excitedly.
"I think so." I smiled faintly, she nodded as she walked inside the building, I just followed her till the elevator, we stood there with a few more people who were waiting for it.
A few of them looked at me in strange ways, I felt so awkward, were they judging me? Were they wondering who I was? What was going on in their minds?
We got inside the elevator and headed upstairs, all the while I stood beside Kajal just feel nervous and anxious.
A few moments later, the door opened up and Kajal and I stepped out, she led me to a cabin as we both stopped outside there.
"Okay, my work here is done now, go inside, you'll meet the boss, the rest will be arranged by him for you. All the best." She smiled.
I looked at the nametag outside the cabin, it read Mr. Mehra, I dint remember any of my dad's friend with that name.
"Thank you." I smiled back as I knocked at the door of the cabin and then walked inside.
A man was seated right in front in a really comfortable looking chair, he had his head stuck on some papers that seemed to have stressed the hell out of him.
He looked up towards me and he seemed confused as if he dint know who I was but the next moment he stood up with a smile.
"Khushi, my dear. You've grown up. I can't believe I last saw you when you were a little girl." He smiled. I smiled back trying to remember him but I had no memories of him whatsoever. Well he himself said that he knew me when I was little, he can't expect the little me to remember him can he?
"Take a seat." He sat down himself as I sat down opposite him and smiled nervously, he dint seem as serious as he looked when I walked in.
"How is your dad doing dear?" He asked.
"He's good." I replied, I knew him and dad were friends and that's how I even landed this job but seriously I could not remember him at all.
"Anyway let's not waste our time, I have lots of work to do and I am sure you will have too. I'll introduce you to the manager and then he will show you around and also tell you how to assist him with his work and everything." He said.
"Aren't you going to take my interview?" I asked, I mean of course I knew I was going to get this job but I thought there was going to be an interview for the sake of it.
"Are you kidding, you are like my daughter and anyway if you don't work hard, I'm going to fire you so you better work hard. People say all sorts of things in interviews, the hard work is the one that keeps your job right."
"Right sir." I smiled, he stood up so I stood up too and followed him out of the office, he led me to the Manager's cabin, there was a name tag outside labelled Mr. Raizada. As soon as I read it, my heart skipped a beat, could it be Arnav?
I know it was stupid of me to think that, there were so many people out there with the same surname.
Mr. Mehra pushed the door open and led us in, for some reason I was really hoping to see Arnav, I know I said I won't mention him but you can't blame me if his name shows up like this can you?
"Khushi, meet him, he's Mr. Yug Raizada and Yug, this is Khushi your new assistant." Mr. Mehra introduced us, I was lowkey disappointed that it wasn't Arnav, also why did I have to work under someone who had the exact surname as Arnav?
"Hello sir." I smiled as I shook hands with him. Yug was your definition of tall, dark and handsome, he was so tall, literally six feet and above, and my God, he had the looks to kill. He also seemed pretty young. He hard long hair, almost the length of a bob and half of it was tied into a ponytail, he had some light beard on his face and he was dressed in a beautiful three piece suit which ha d a very unique jungle green type of a color but in a very dark shade.
Man this guy looked hot.
"You can call me Yug." He smiled as he shook hands with me.
"So, I'll leave you two to get started, if you need anything you know where to find me Khushi." Mr. Mehra smiled at me as he walked away leaving me with Yug.
"So Khushi... do you have any experience?" He asked.
"No, I just completed my studies, this is my first job, but I promise I won't disappoint, I'll learn quickly." I smiled.
"That's good to know. So I have some important work to finish, it's kind of urgent but you can get settled meanwhile, once I get free, I'll show you around and also start giving you some work, does that sound okay to you?"
"Sure." I nodded, he pointed towards a door that passed through his cabin and led to a small cabin, it was like a huge room cut into two basically.
"That's your cabin, go get settled, I'll see you in a while." I nodded as I headed to the cabin, pulled out the chair and sat down as I looked around. So far, all the people I had met were really good and friendly, I had been so nervous about this thinking I was going to encounter rude people and some that dint like me or anything, I was glad that, that wasn't the case.
I looked around the cabin, it had a few cabinets around with lots of files, and then the table and chair where I was seated and there was a laptop on the table which I dint touch, unless I was told it was mine to use, I wasn't going to start opening it up or anything.
Yug and my cabin was separated by a glass wall, I could literally see him, I just couldn't hear him, right now he was busy talking to someone on the call while I stared at him from my cabin.
He looked really great, I mean he was so attractive, any girl couldn't stop staring at him. Of course, I wasn't attracted to him, I was just staring because he was a beautiful man. My heart was always going to belong to Arnav.
There I go again, would I ever be able to stop mentioning Arnav? I guess not.
I grabbed some of the magazines that were placed on the table as I started going through them, looking at the articles, the pictures of models in different kind of outfits and all that.
"Hey there, time for a tour, are you ready?" Yug said as he walked into my cabin.
"Yes sir." I nodded as I put back the magazine and stood up immediately.
"Yug, it's Yug. Don't make me feel old by calling me sir." He laughed.
"It will take time to get used to... anyway let's get started." I smiled, he nodded as he led me out to give me a tour of the entire office and I silently followed him around.
