Part 1 - Mysterious Card.
The sound of the doorbell woke me up, I stretched my arms lazily wondering why I still felt sleepy despite having my usual eight hour sleep, I mean once it was my usual time to wake up, I'd always wake up without any difficulties, today it dint seem so and this stupid milk man was always on time, why couldn't he be late for once and let me sleep a bit more?
I stepped out of the bed yet struggling to open my eyes, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get them to open, I was such a sleepy head.
Once I was at the door, I unlocked it and finally managed to open my eyes fully waiting for the milk man to hand me my bottle, I had told him so many times to leave it on the door but he wouldn't listen, he had to wake me up anyway.
When I opened the door though, I wasn't met with the milk man but just darkness outside. I looked behind on the wall where there was a clock, wondering if I woke up early or it was a dark day today, but it wouldn't be this dark at seven in the morning would it be?
The clock read, three o'clock in the morning, why would anyone ring my damn door bell at such a time plus why would anyone visit me or play a prank on me at such a time when it was raining heavily outside? I looked around trying to see if there was anyone out there but I couldn't see even a person, maybe I was just dreaming?
But the sound of the doorbell sounded so real? How could it be just a dream? It felt so real, I know I heard it, why else would I wake up?
I sighed as she decided to head back to bed and finish my sleep when I noticed a card like thing placed on the floor, I looked around worriedly once again and then bent down to pick it up, it was a thick kind of a paper, I wondered how it ended up here, did someone leave it here? Maybe the person that rang the doorbell. The front was just blank so I flipped it over and looked at the other side where the words were written in capital letters.
THE GAME BEGINS NOW.
I quickly shut the door in fear, and headed back to my room wondering who could have left this. Was someone really just pranking me or threatening me? What game was this, why would anyone leave such a note outside my house?
I never had any kind of a bad relationship with anyone, I never even had an enemy who would do this to me, I was always good to everyone so there couldn't be any possibility of anyone doing this to me which meant, all this, it definitely had to be a prank and if it was a prank, I knew who exactly played it.
"I will deal with you in college." I said as I lied down on my bed, covered myself with a blanket and headed back to sleep, like duh, sleep was important please.
*****
"You idiot!" I slapped my best friend with the card on his head as I looked at him angrily almost wanting to punch him. I knew this was done by him, we always played stupid pranks on each other so it had to be him, no one else could do this to me.
"What?" Arnav, my dear best friend, turned around and looked at me in confusion. Such a great actor was he, wasn't he?
Arnav was the perfect description of the boy next door, he was good looking, very good looking in that matter with very beautiful eyes, his eyes could speak a million words, literally. He was a very extrovert kind of a person and I was like opposite of him, I wasn't really an introvert but I dint do a lot of extrovert things either. I was just in between, you get me?
Arnav and I were like this cute couple you watch in movies or read about them in novels and instantly ship them but only that we weren't a couple, we were two best friends who were with each other through thick and thin.
As for me, I dint like dating and Arnav was always around flirting with random girls, not that he ever dated any of them, he's just have his fun flirting around and stuff and I was like his wingman, getting him information about the girls and if possible even their phone numbers, our friendship in one word, was perfect.
Arnav and I had basically grown up together, our parents used to be neighbors and we also went to the same school and when we were done with school we decided to move away from our families for college and ended up choosing the same place to study so our friendship had lasted years actually.
"Next time you come asking me to help you get a girl's phone number I won't!" I said as I flipped my hair and turned to walk away as Arnav stood up from his seat and followed me. I was so mad at him.
"Hey Shona!" Arnav shouted still rushing behind me. Cliché right? But it was cute, since I could remember, Arnav always addressed me as Shona, he would call me Khushi very rarely, and I liked that he had a nickname for me, it was cute, I also had one for him.
I mean how are you even best friends if you don't have nicknames for each other right?
"You don't get to call me that anymore." I pouted as I stopped walking and turned to face him. All I wanted to do was punch him. Idiot!
"But what did I do?" He asked, still looking confused, was he really confused or was he still acting like he dint do a thing?
"I know we play a lot of pranks on each other but you showing up at my place at three o'clock in the morning and while it's raining so heavily just to scare me isn't funny!" I said angrily.
"When did I come to your place? Are you in love with me?" He raised his eyebrow curiously.
"What? You and me Arniee, never happening!" I slapped him on his arm and started walking away from him once again. This guy keeps flirting with all the girls in the college but would also flirt with me any chance he gets.
"Then why are you seeing me in your house when I'm not there? You have to agree, girls can't resist the charm of Arnav Raizada, and you my dear are also a girl." Arnav smirked proudly. Okay he was right, he was pretty hot but I wasn't like the other girls, I wasn't drooling over him, he was my best friend and that was it.
"Because no one else plays such pranks on me." I said as I threw the card or paper or whatever the hell it was on him, he bent down and picked it up as he read what was written on it.
"What is this?" He asked, following me once again, jeez Arnav stop acting already.
"The stupid card you left on my door. Stop acting so innocent, I know it was you trying to scare me, just so you know, it wasn't funny idiot!"
"Shona I dint leave this at your door, does this even look like my handwriting to you? Come on. Plus you know I'm a lazy person, I'd never wake up that early to do stuff like this to you."
"Are you sure you aren't the one who did this?" I stopped walking once again and looked at him seriously. He had a point, it wasn't his handwriting and he was literally so lazy and he loved sleep like I did too so he wouldn't actually wake up in the middle of a night just to play pranks on me.
"No, you know the kind of pranks I play, this isn't one of them." Arnav explained.
"If it's not you then who is it?" I wondered, now I was starting to get scared, was someone stalking me? why would anyone leave something like this at my door step?
"Wait, is this your prank? Maybe you just made up this thing and are trying to prank me or something?" Arnav looked at me curiously.
"Very funny, I don't do such stupid things. Seriously Arnie, if it wasn't you then who did this? I thought it was you, but now I'm actually scared." I looked at him worriedly.
"Okay first of all tell me what exactly happened and how you received this, we'll figure it out." Arnav suggested, I nodded as we both headed to the canteen, Arnav and I usually ate our breakfast in the canteen even lunch and sometimes dinner too, I mean who had the time to cook right? We got our favorite sandwich and sat down together while I explained everything to him in details.
"Hey Arnav." A few girls passed by gushing about him.
"Hi Arnav." I mimicked them making very funny expressions, I must look like a clown while doing that.
"You know when you do stuff like this, I just get this feeling you are jealous." Arnav laughed.
"Really Arniee really? Me jealous of you? You are my best friend not theirs, I don't have a reason to be jealous." I smirked proudly.
"Nope, jealous because maybe you have secret feelings for me or guys don't come talk to you like that." Arnav teased.
"I told you Arniee, you and me, it's never happening and if you think guys don't gush over me, wait and watch." I smirked as I stood up and walked towards a table at the left corner where four guys were seated talking about their stuff, I stopped at their table and bent over it looking at the guys in a cute way and blinked my eyes severally trying to look cute.
"Hello Boys." I said in a very sexy voice.
"Hey." One of them replied back, the other three were just left with their mouths wide open not being able to believe that this was happening to them. I laughed as she walked back to Arnav feeling proud of myself.
"So what were you saying?" I smirked.
"Whatever, you proved your point. Can we discuss this now?" Arnav rolled his eyes as he waved the paper in front of me.
"I don't know, who could have done it?" I asked, I mean I couldn't think of a person not even one that would do something like this to me.
"Have you messed up with someone? I mean you aren't the type but has anything happened recently, maybe you were rude to someone or something of such sort?" He asked
"Nope, you know I am a good girl." I smiled proudly.
"Fine then you don't have to worry, it must be just a stupid prank someone played, forget about it." Arnav sighed.
"If you say so." I nodded, I mean it was just a paper with something stupid written on it, I dint have to worry about it.
"Guys! You've got to see this!" Tanvi came rushing towards us out of nowhere.
Meet Tanvi Sharma, A beautiful young bubbly girl and our best friend, basically we were the three best friends who would do and die for each other, our friendship was perfect and everyone around the college was quite jealous of it.
Arnav and I met Tanvi in high school and we just kind of got along with her in a way we wouldn't with other people and since then the three of us have been inseparable.
"What's happening?" Arnav asked as he stood up and followed Tanvi so I joined them too wondering what was happening.
"There's a secret fight in the girls bathroom between some two girls I don't even know, not actual fight but word fight, it's hilarious." Tanvi giggled.
"And why are you telling me about such girlish thing?" Arnav asked.
"Because they are arguing about you." Tanvi laughed and I joined her in laughing, Arnav was like one of the hot dudes around in the college and a lot of girls wanted to be with him, only if they knew he wasn't ever going to be with any of them. So basically girls kept on arguing over who was going to impress him and stuff, it was hilarious.
Whenever such a thing happened, Tanvi and I wouldn't stop teasing Arnav about it and he would just make faces, it was cute, and we both had so much fun pulling his leg.
"I bet it's one of this girls crazy for you that hates me so much to leave such a letter or whatever outside my house." I said to Arnav who looked at me like he wanted to punch me for being so irritating.
"What letter?" Tanvi asked.
"I'll explain later." I said.
