Chapter 3
I'm surprised I didn't cry. Wait, never mind. I'm not. I was going to break up with him in a week on our anniversary for drama, but I guess I'll live. I checked my reflection in the large mirror next to my 20 foot long closet.
Flawless.
Pink eye shadow dusted my upper- eye, mascara applied to my eyelashes, a hint of blush making me look tan (but not too tan) and putting emphasis on my cheekbones. Cherry ChapStick double coated my lips, and my fabulous blonde hair fell down in a slight wave just past my shoulders. I smiled in the mirror. "Looking good Aurora."
I turned around and stared the 60 feet across my room towards the doorway.
"Mom," I said, irritated. "What did I say about just walking into my room? Don't you even use my doorbell any more? It's hot pink, therefore hard to miss. Also, I'm in a mood so even if you did ring I wouldn't have responded, making your walk in very rude." I said.
"Well," she said, ignoring my snide comment. "Dinners ready in an hour. We're having baked Alaska and Quail. Dessert is strawberry ice cream - the pink kind - and whipped cream. Any requests?"
"No, mother, goodbye."
She shrugged and walked out.
I whipped up my pink iPhone 9 and started texting my friends.
Aurora: Hi my beauties! ;)
Linda: Hello Aurora!
Tiffany left the conversation.
Aurora: What's her deal?
Linda: She is pooping!
Aurora: Us popular DON'T poop. We emit feces. How many times do I have to tell you?
Linda: Sorry what? I'm mowing the lawn.
Aurora left the conversation.
Shes so frustrating, I thought, dialing Tiffany's number. What civilized popular girl would mow her lawn? As I waited for Tiff to pick up, I glanced out the window at our servants riding lawn mowing golf carts around our 110 foot croquet field. My younger brother, James, ran around the field yelling "DUDE! NARLY!" at one of our poor servants. Sucks for him. I thought. Suddenly my phone made a beep, and I glanced down at a screen that said, "CALL DECLINED BY: TIFF"
"Ugh!" I screamed in frustration, hurling my phone onto the bed.
My second phone beeped in my pocket. I pulled it out and my stomach flipped.
Jake: Hey there, Aurora. I'm at your house, just like you asked me to be.
Aurora: Good, good. Brb babe! ;)
And hitting SEND, I dashed to the elevator, awaiting my long overdue date with Jake.
