This is Anna Kevinsky with TODAY'S NEWS.
You might have learnt of other countries and towns whose taxes increased drastically over a six month time period, and thought that would never happen to our dear town. Well, you thought wrong darlin'!
In a troubling time for everyone now when the economy is down, it seems that the government is also having some financial difficulties as they increased taxes to 9.5% of a citizens pay-check. That's as good as 10%!
Many citizens are upset by this sudden increase from 5% to 9.5%, which came without warning.
In a press conference after releasing the news of the tax increase, Mayor O'Hamington says, "Due to the sudden drop in the economy, we need to ready ourselves for pay cuts and the likes. To prepare ourselves, we are increasing taxes to help those who need the money most."
Who are people you are referring to Mr Mayor? Does this sound like utter bullshit to anyone else? The answer to that rhetorical question is in fact, yes.
Just a few hours ago, a crowd of almost 150 citizens were protesting outside the gates of Mr Mayor's mansion, causing a problem as nobody could enter or exit the mansion during the period of the protest, which was part of the plan.
"We wanted to block the main exits so they would be forced to listen to what we say. The government allows free speech and free will, but they never listen to us. It's about time they do." demands a woman that prefers to be unnamed.
Amen sister!
The police arrived at the scene of the protest an hour later and threatened to arrest anyone who didn't vacate the grounds of the Mayor's mansion immediately as they were 'harassing' the mayor.
Aren't we allowed freedom of speech?
Not only is the government being a bit of a hypocrite as well as cheating the citizens, but also destroying dreams and lives.
"Harrison and I had finally saved enough to rent an apartment for us and our children after we were evicted last year. After the taxes, we realised we couldn't rent it anymore. We just couldn't afford it. My kids are broken, they want a home. And so do I." says Inna Bidson.
"He stole my hope and my dreams, and I hate him for it."

The government is stealing from us unfairly, and we need to show them how strong us 'commoners' can really be.
Are you with me?
