You've already got one ally. You don't need another. You kill the tribute in a flash, and her canon wakes up Mazie. She crawls out of her tent, and gasps when she's sees the dead girl and the bloodied knife in your hand. 

You explain that it was for the best. She frowns but before she can reply, the ground suddenly rumbles and the entire arena starts to split in half! You leap to safety. Mazie isn't so fast, but you manage to catch her and pull her to safety. You hear a canon fire- someone else wasn't so lucky. 

As day comes, you double check the traps and start making a fire and cooking some food. You see Mazie watching you cautiously. You may have saved her life, but does she trust you yet?

Roll a d20 and add your Intelligence. 

1-10: Of course she does! 

11 or above: She's afraid, and is worried that you may kill her like you did with the other tribute. But she knows that she has better chances of survival staying with you than out in the cold on her own. 

As night comes, you and Mazie settle down to keep watch. As it approaches midnight, you hear a canon fire. Getting to your feet, you grab your weapon and scan the surroundings. 

For some minutes, you see nothing, and then you see something moving quickly across the snow and ice. As the white blobs come into view, your eyes widen- out of fear but also because of the sheer lack of imagination of the Gamemakers. Coming towards you are two polar bears- each with eight legs!
