The weather was perfect, sun shined brightly in the sky, winds blew peacefully, birds chirped and sang, their song resonated throughout the town. The blue sky was reflected in the lake, as if it were a mirror. Children laughed and played happily. Happiness was in the air that morning. "Hahahaha!"

The children were carefree and had the luxury to 'chill'. In this cutthroat world, you have to take two steps forward if you take one step back or else you will be left behind in the race of life. Time will keep on moving forward without waiting for you to catch up, second by second.

The old and antique wall clock, passed down from generations to generations, sang again, indicating that it was 12 o'clock in the noon. She sighed, "Those brats never come home on time." She was in her mid 30s, her hair were black and her eyes were the same shade as her hair. She was moderately tall and her skin was pale. The other woman who sat beside her spoke, "Don't worry. Let's let them enjoy the last time they are playing together atleast." She was in her soon going to be in her 40s, she had brown hair which were starting to whiten from the roots. She was a short woman and her complexion was dark. The cawing of the crows didn't stop.

This small house was located on the outskirts of the village, made with mud and the roof was made with sticks and wood. The sole tree, located in the front yard, had no leaves on it. It was dead too. It was now nothing more than a place for bats to hang out. Crows mostly invaded their place and gained dominance. This place didn't receive much sunlight either.

Going deeper in the village, one could find essential shops, small schools, farms and kids. The elderly used to sit together and have discussions and had stories to tell. Life was simple.....or so it seemed.

Violence, murder, injustice, corruption, cruelty etc etc were going on as usual behind the scenes. There is no "golden age" as there is always some idiot who has a few screws loose  or some guy who has ulterior motives and is evil. This is the truth of the wretched world we live in but....it doesn't stop us humans from living happily. These feelings and emotions, as we call them, are necessary. Without them a human cannot live an ideal life.

Superstitions were rather widespread in this period. The witch, the sacrifice and the devil.

"Let's go home, our moms will be angry"

"I'm hungry"

"Stop picking your nose!"

"Eww!"

"Ugh!"

The five kids looked at each other, not wanting to get scolded by their moms, they decided to go home.

"Hahaha! Hehehe!"

They joked around and laughed because what fun would walking home be if not for the jokes and stories. These five innocent lives, not knowing about the dark truths or the evils of the world, walked happily. Martha, she was the oldest of the bunch with the age of 8 years, she was punctual and liked following the rules. Ryuuen loved to eat, he was a bit like a basket ball, and used to pick his nose all the time, he was 6 years old. Gin was a critique, he used to criticize what he could and everything somebody else did, he was 7 years old. Rei, she was 6 years old and was a completely obedient child. Kiyo was the youngest of them all, he was 5 years old.

The sun had gone down and the moon shone brightly. Humans are like the moon. They, if alone, can be labelled as pathetic too, of course there are some exceptions but mostly it's the truth. We need someone to help us. Parents, teachers, friends.....we are social creatures. We need someone to make us shine....
.....just like the moon.
Wind was getting stronger and it picked up speed. Birds were starting to fly home in order to rest and spend time with the hatchlings. The atmosphere became colder.

"I'm hungry!" Ryuuen was getting restless. After an hour of walking the five kids grew tired. "Let's rest for a bit!" They all decided. After all....their mothers wanted them to prioritise their safety...no....they called it....purity. If they were to get too dirty, they were threatened by their moms:
"Dhfjricjifhwjffkkeksksekkekfjfj will come and take you away if you misbehave."
They were really scared of the Dhfjricjifhwjffkkeksksekkekfjfj.

But when they behaved themselves their mother appreciated them and said:
"Now Satan will be happy"
They liked Satan....whoever he was. They loved Satan.

Once they had said something that was forbidden as per their mothers....

"They're late!?"

She was clearly fuming as she walked about the small room, the other one looked at her silently. "Tch." She clicked her tongue too. The preparations were nearly completed as the last five items needed were yet to arrive. The cawing of the crows grew fierce along with the wind.

*Swoooo fwoooo*

*Caw caw!*

In the compact room, a sole candle was lit and kept at the centre of the circle. The room was dark, a single candle was not enough for the whole room. Their eyes glinted in the dark. An evil grin would soon be etched across both their faces.....very soon.

Witchcraft, dark magic, evil, devil, death......

They could feel the air grow heavy and chilly. It was eerily quiet today, except for the cawing of the crows. They felt somewhat troubled. The crows' gaze pierced through them as if waiting for them to become of some 'use'.

"I'm scared...." Gin hugged everyone as they kept walking. They were now holding hands  for warmth but mostly because they were shivering.....with fear.

It's funny....how our senses work. Our body is capable of detecting danger and that is one of the factors that helped us survive all these years. It's our own 'spidey sense' that tingles when we are about to face some trouble. Belive your gut and use your brain....that is the number one survival tip. (Not statistically proven)
