"I am sorry, we tried everything but she couldn't make it. We are very sorry", the doctor said while he looked down.

As soon as Shrishti heard from the doctor, she ran to the room where Sarla's body lay; Sophia tailing behind her. When she reached, she slowly uncovered her face whistle her hands trembling because she didn't believe what the doctor had said and neither did she want to believe it.
She looked at her mother's dead body and suddenly cried out loud.

"No, no no. Mum please wake up", she said while trying to wake her up but sadly Sarla wasn't responding.

"Mum you can't just leave us like this. You promised to never ever leave us, you've got to keep your promise".
Sophia who was devastated as much tried to reason with her that her mum is dead but she couldn't accept anything.

"Am sorry dear but we can't do anything about it. She's dead", Sophia continued to say.

She hugged Shrishti while trying to comfort her. Sophia didn't think a day that started so beautifully and full of happiness would end in heartbreaks. She saw how aunt Sarla was happy about Preeta and Prithvi's wedding and even though Karan turned out to be groom; she accepted him and entrusted him with Preeta's life thinking he would protect her daughter but he did the opposite and because of his actions Sarla is dead. Yes Sophia blames him because had he not abandoned Preeta, perhaps she wouldn't have ended up in the hospital and her pregnancy getting revealed like that.
She's so afraid for her friend. She doesn't know how Preeta will react to the news of her mother's passing especially when she finds out how her mom got the heart attack that cost her life.

Sophia took Shrishti outside because the doctors had come to take Sarla's body to the morgue as they waited for when it will be taken. Even though she resisted at first, eventually she let go and told Shrishti to go home and inform the rest. However Shrishti didn't wanna go since she didn't wanna leave her sister alone but Sophia convinced her and promised to stay with Preeta till she woke up.
Shrishti left feeling angony, sadness and couldn't control her tears. She thought of calling Sammy but then remembered that he was with Karan and the bustard left and hurt her sister which means he knew everything that Karan was planning. The Luthras hurt her sister and killed her mother. Hence she declined calling Sammy and even started hating him. She vow to never have any relationship with Sammy or any friendship with anyone from that family.

As for Sophia, as soon as Shrishti had left she called her parents and informed them of Sarla's passing. She called her mum and on the third ring she picked.

"Mum" she called while crying

"Sweetie, what's wrong? Why are you crying?".

"Something horrible happened. You've got to get here as soon as possible".

"Your scaring me now; what happened? And I thought it was Preeta's wedding today. What happened? ".

"It was but something bad happened and it's about aunt Sarla".

"What do you mean?"

"She's.......she's. ......she's dead mum, she suffered from a heart attack".

Sophia didn't get a reply immediately and asked her mum if she was still there.

"Yes dear I am. Am just shocked. How did it happen? And how are the girls doing?".

"I can't tell you everything over the phone but they are not okay and that's why you need to get here really first".

"Okay sweetie, I will inform your brother and father and we will get the first flight to Mumbai. We will be there soon".

Sophia bid her goodbye and then left to be with Preeta.

When she saw Preeta lying in that bed, she seemed so peaceful and calm. She entwined their figures and wondered why this happened. Preeta is the most kind, caring, peaceful person she knows so she's upset about everything that as happened to her. She's one person she knows deserves every nice thing the world has to offer. And never in the million years did she think that Karan would do this to her and now she's expecting his baby. She wonders how she's gonna react to the news about Sarla and the baby as everything is just so messed up. She hopes Preeta doesn't get closed off like she did when her father died however she promised not to leave her side because they are sisters and look after each other. That night she stayed by Preeta's side until she woke up.

Shrishti telling Jhanki and her grandma was really hard and shocked faces was what she could see at that time. They couldn't believe it that the person who was with them a few hours ago is now gone. Jhanki felt like her heart had been ripped out because Sarla was the only true friend and together with the girls and their grandma, they had their family intact. They may not have been rich but they loved and cared for one another and the person who kept this family together was now gone. She didn't know what she was going to do and te girls, she felt sorry for them especially Preeta who was very close to her mum.
She asked Shrishti if she had informed Preeta and the Luthras.

"Don't ever mention Luthras to me again. They are responsible. If Karan hadn't abandoned Preeta; she wouldn't have ended up in the hospital and my mother wouldn't have suffered a heart attack, so they are to blame. Karan killed my mum and am never forgiving him".

Sarla's body was brought home and neighbours were shocked. They couldn't believe she was actually dead because it wasn't long ago they saw her happy about Preeta's wedding. So many came to mourn her and it was just misery, grief, sadness around the place. Sarla's death was unexpected. Only Shrishti was around so they asked where Preeta was. Shrishti didn't tell them what happened to Preeta, so she just said she's coming but she also didn't know when she will be released from hospital.

Hours later, Preeta woke up and was confused about her surroundings but as everything cleared out in head, she realized she was at the hospital but didn't know how she got here. She saw Sophia sleeping on the coach and called her.

"Oh thank God, your finally awake", Sophia said

"How did I get here? And where is Karan?".

"Do don't remember anything?", Sophia asked confused.

"I don't know".

"Try to remember what happened".

And after a few minutes she remembered because she had tears in her eyes.

"He lied to me, everything was just a lie. He doesn't love me. All those promises was just so he gets close and then hurt me. It was all part of his revenge and i feel so dirty because i....... i...... God i hate him and i will never forgive him. He has ruined my life. How will I face my mum; she will say I warned you so".

"You didn't deserve that but you have to know something Preeta, your pregnant and three is something else you must know", Sophia said looking at her with pity.

"What did you just say?".

"That you pregnant, the doctors found out after I had brought you here when you fainted. At first I thought it was stress but they said your two weeks pregnant and I guess it's Karan's baby right?".

"No Sophia am not pregnant. This can't be. I can't be pregnant for a guy who abandoned me for no reason. Goodness what am I gonna tell mum; mum is going to hate me for this I must get rid of it as soon as possible".

"Preeta your not thinking straight, also I don't think it's what your mother would want. Am sure whenever she is, she would like for you to keep your baby. I know what Karan did was terrible but the child is innocent".

"You just said whenever my mum is; did she go somewhere?".

"Oh Preeta am sorry ......I don't know how to tell you this".

"Tell me what exactly? ".

"You see, yesterday when you fainted, I brought you here and called at your house because I didn't know what to do at the time. Shrishti and your came to see you and they found out that Karan left you because I told them. Your mum was angry and sad about it but when the doctor gave them news about your pregnancy, your mother suffered a heart attack and she..... she......died, your mum is dead Preeta".

"No your lying, is this some kind of joke. How can you joke about this?, my mum is not dead, she is not dead".

"Am sorry Preeta but it's the truth and her body is already at home"

"No no no she's not ..... why?... why does every bad thing happen to me. My mum no why her? Why does God do this? Why does everyone I love leave me? Why? Everyone I love leaves me; first my dad, Karan and now my mom", She cried out.

"But Karan is not dead".

"He still left me and now am all alone, how am I gonna live without mom, she's the only one that understood me, she was always there for me. And its my fault that she's dead. I killed my mother, I killed my mother".

"No sweetie, what happened wasn't your fault. It was an accident".

"No I killed her because she got shocked with the news of my pregnancy. So it's my fault and am never forgiving myself ".

This is what Sophia was afraid of. She knew Preeta would blame herself and loathe herself too. And now with her pregnant with the guy who abandoned her must be going through a lot. Honestly she's not sure how Preeta is gonna get through this. It's too much however she's gonna be there and support her every state of the way.

After a few check ups from the doctor, Preeta was discharged and the the ride back home was a quiet one. Preeta was silently crying and thinking so much. She was feeling so much pain because she blamed herself for her mother's death however despite blaming herself, she blamed Karan Luthra too.

Elsewhere at the Luthra house, preparations were in order for Karan's engagement, and everyone was up and down. Paparazzi were also on ground and news were streaming and trending on twitter. Mahira was on cloud nine because finally she's gonna get Karan's money and his name. As for Sheilyn, she's happy because Preeta will be gone from both the Luthras and Prithvi's lives hence she can carry out her revenge without Preeta interrupting any of it. As for Mahira if she becomes a problem, she already knows what to do with her.

The groom to be was in his room still asleep not caring about what day it is. Sammy came to wake him up but he seemed sad.

"You look terrible, for guy who is getting engaged today", Sammy lamented.

Karan didn't pay attention to what Sammy just said but asked.

"Have you heard from Shrishti, how they are doing?".

"Shrishti or your wife whom you abandoned. Am still angry with you Karan, what you did to Preeta was terrible".

"I know and I feel bad about it".

"Am glad you agree with this, now can you make everything right?, your already married, you can't be getting married again".

Karan seemed to agree and understand but when he remembered his dad and Prithvi's words he told Sammy.

"Am getting engaged and you should forget about Preeta. I promised Mahira that I will marry her and am going through with it. Preeta tried to murder my dad and a girl like that can't be a wife of mine. Besides Mahira is loved by everyone in this family".

"Not me, I hate her and I will never accept her as my sister in law. I have tried to persuade you and your being adamant; well it's your life and I hope you don't regret this". Sammy excused himself as he left Karan with his own thoughts.

Truth is Karan loves Preeta but his anger got the best of him. He got his phone and dialled Preeta's number however it was going straight to voicemail. It was also stupid because what was he gonna say to her. He went showered and then prepared himself for his engagement. When he thought about it, he decided to forget about Preeta altogether and move on with Mahira and was determined to do it.

After some time, Karan and Mahira were called to the front to finish their engagement. Mahira was happy but Karan was sad. He looked like he was at a funeral and only Preeta was on his mind. He was thinking about his wedding with her, about their happy moments spent together and the bad memories, the arguments and his his dad and that's when he put the ring on Mahira's finger which meant, he was officially engaged to Mahira and his wedding was announced in a week's time.

On the other hand, Sarla's funeral was taking place and Preeta was asked to say something about her mother before she was finally layed to rest. She didn't look good at all, she didn't look any better with all the crying and stress that came with it. Sophia and Shrishti told her not to if she's not feeling well but she said she can do it.

In front of the many faces she recognized and didn't, she went and stood near her mother's casket and said the following. It wasn't easy but she forced her self with all the grief, misery, guilt and sadness she was feeling.

"My sister and I came to Mumbai four years ago looking for our mum and by God's grace we found each other. We were all happy. She promised to take care and protect us; which she has been doing and these past years have been the best we've had since we met. But now somewhere in our hearts beneath all our grief and pain, is a smile we still wear at the sound of her name. She was our world and our hearts are breaking because she's no longer here with us.
God chose her for His Angel to watch over us from above, to guide us and advice and also know that we are still loved. Yesterday being her last day with us means that God had better plans for her. And we can only celebrate her life because she was the most kind, generous, loving and caring person I ever knew. I want to thank her for the good memories and the time she made sacrifices for us we will remember what she taught us and make her proud.
My sister and I feel honoured and privileged to have been her daughters. She loved us unconditionally and was the best mom anyone could wish for.
We will miss you mom, and may your soul rest in peace. I love you mum", she said emotionally without holding back any tears.

Her sister joined her as they watched Sarla's casket being buried. They threw flowers and watched as others did the same. It was heart breaking to know that they are never seeing their mum again. They didn't know what they were going to do or what the future held for them especially Preeta who was going to be a single mom.
