Testimony Pt 1

H. Hall: have you had contact with Mr. Jeon prior to this court hearing Mrs. Harris?

T. Harris: Yes, me and my husband tried to speak with him at our daughter's funeral but were rudely turned away by his aggressive friends.

H. Hall: When you call his friends aggressive what are you referring to?

T. Harris: Well that man over there, (points to Mr. Min Yoongi sitting in the viewing area) he confronted my husband. He started to yell at him and threatened to swing on him before another man stopped him. Finally, he (points to Mr. Kim Namjoon sitting in the viewing area) took hold of my husband and forced him out of the building.

H. Hall: How very upsetting. To be grieving the loss of your child and then be denied visitation to the only link left to her.

T. Harris: It's honestly been a terrible few months. I loved my daughter and want nothing more than to shower that love onto my granddaughter.

H. Hall: I understand Mrs. Harris. That is why we are here today so you might get that chance. No further questions.

F. Walker: Good morning Mrs. Harris. So I've listened to you talk this morning about the love you have for your daughter, but was it not you who freely gave your daughter away at the age of 16?

T. Harris: Yes but it's not how you are making it seem. I wanted her to have a better life, we gave temporary guardianship to Mr. & Mrs. Irwin so they could enroll her in a highly accredited high school giving her the best opportunities for her future.

F. Walker: Were they not arrested when she was 18 for abusing her? Why did you not rekindle your relationship with your daughter when she was no longer under their care?

T. Harris: They were never found guilty of the crimes Jillian accused them of. I loved my daughter very much but she was very bullheaded and would make things up when it didn't go her way. She was manipulative and she chose to shun us from her life, there wasn't a single day where I didn't think and pray for her.

F. Walker: I see. Well Mrs. Harris can you tell me what happened on the day she went to see you a few years ago?

T. Harris: Uh, well she had shown up at my door around two pm out of the blue. I remember the time because my boys would be getting home from school about an hour later.

F. Walker: Would there be an issue with her meeting her own brothers?

T. Harris: No, but they knew nothing about her and I didn't want to throw something like that on them randomly.

F. Walker: So your other two children knew nothing about the daughter you have thought and prayed for daily?

T. Harris: Listen you're making it into something it's not. She chose to not be with our family the day she showed up she became belligerent finding out we had other children she became loud and aggressive when my husband showed up and we were forced to ask her to leave and not come back until she was ready to have a civilized conversation.

F. Walker: No further questions your Honor.

A. Grubbs: You may step down Mrs. Harris

H. Hall: Mr. Harris do you have any concerns for your granddaughter Arabella's safety?

R. Harris: Yes, I do.

H. Hall: And what are those concerns?

R. Harris: I'm concerned she's being neglected by her father. And being cared for by men who live a bachelor lifestyle and have violent tendencies. When I saw them at the funeral Mr. Jeon had squeezed my granddaughter so tightly it caused her to cry out in pain and another man had to pry her away from him to keep her safe.

H. Hall: I'd like to submit these photos into evidence, your Honor.

A. Grubbs: Have you brought enough copies to share with the defense?

H. Hall: Yes, your Honor.

A. Grubbs: Granted. Please proceed.

H. Hall: Can you please tell me about these photos Mr. Harris?

R. Harris: Yes. These were taken by a private investigator me and my wife hired. It shows how in the last few months my granddaughter was carted from her home by different men at all hours of the day and night none of them ever being her father. In a few photos you see him finally leaving the house in a horrid state, how could he take care of my granddaughter if he is not even taking care of himself?

H. Hall: Can you please tell the court how Arabella will benefit from having you and Mrs. Harris in her life.

R. Harris: We are the ones who had the closest bond with Jillian, we know her like the back of our hand and can help Arabella keep wonderful memories of her mother. We can help ease Mr. Jeon's burden of caring for a daughter alone, we have raised one and she turned out wonderfully. As far as I know, Mr. Jeon has no one else in his life besides these hooligans who all work different hours of the day doing god knows what. My wife and I are stable, we own our house and can accommodate having Arabella with us on days he needs to work or needs to have a moment to himself.

H. Hall: If your daughter Jillian was here do you believe that she would want her own daughter to be close with you and your wife?

R. Harris: Absolutely. My daughter was a little lost and we may have had our own bumps in the road with her but she was my little princess. She was loving and caring with a forgiving heart. She would want that family bond between us and her daughter.

H. Hall: No further questions.

F. Walker: Mr. Harris you have mentioned several times your dislike for the men that interact with your granddaughter. You have called them hooligans and violent and eluded to them having an unsatisfactory job, but how can you be sure?

R. Harris: I've spoken to a few myself. That one over there in the black button-down, (referring to Mr. Min Yoongi) got into my face at Jillian's funeral and when I refused to leave because I love my daughter and granddaughter with all my heart he pulled back a fist to punch me. But was ultimately stopped by one of the other men.

F. Walker: Is it not true that you were in fact the one who started the argument at the funeral. Threatening to take Arabella that you had a right to her. Is it not also true that you stepped up to Mr. Min raising your voice and startling your granddaughter which made her cry and she had to be removed from the situation you created.

R. Harris: I do have a right to Arabella. We are her mother's parents. Arabella should be able to know about her roots and her family. We are her real family along with Mr. Jeon why should all of those men have access to her and we are shunned away. They will never be able to offer her the love that we can.

F. Walker: The same love that caused you to gamble your savings away putting your family in severe debt on the brink of being homeless? The same love that caused you to give away your only daughter and turn a blind eye to all that she was going through?

R. Harris: You don't know what your fucking talking about it was her or us. How would we care for her if we were out on the streets? I did what I had to and if she just would have listened to them they wouldn't have had to teach her a lesson every time.

F. Walker: That is the type of love you want to offer your granddaughter?

R. Harris: No. We would do better be better. We owe it to Jillian. We need to atone.

F. Walker: No further questions your honor.
