My Girl

"Arabella Jeon! Get back here right now!" I shout as I rush down the stairs after her.

When I look down the street, she's long gone and I groan. Stomping over to the table, I pick up my phone and dial her number. My anger rises and rises as it continues to ring. Crixus walks into the dining room handing me her phone whispering that she left it in her room.

UGH!

"I'll go get her," Crixus says and leaves the house.

Violet comes down the stairs nervously rubbing her arm before standing in front of me and taking my hand.

"Relax, babe. It's just a silly argument," she soothes and I disagree.

"No. Enough is enough. She's not a child anymore and you have been in her life for years. There's no reason for her to be acting like this, it's not okay!"

"She's a teenager. Her emotions are all over the place."

"Not an excuse to be a brat. I didn't raise her to be this way and that was so uncalled for."

"What even happened?" I question finally.

I had only caught the tail-end of the conversation and it was more than enough to have me angry at my teenage daughter. I've noticed how she's never taken a shine to Violet, but she had never been outright disrespectful to her. I thought they got on well enough and I was happy with Violet. I had always made it clear she was not taking Jelly's spot. No one could ever replace her, but I'd always assumed Bells appreciated having another woman around.

"Well, she wanted to go out with Vincent," Violet started and I could feel myself getting angry again.

"Of course, he's to blame. I wish she'd never met that boy! It's been a year and it's like her whole life revolves around him," I start to rant running my hands through my hair trying to keep it out of my eyes.

"Kookie..." Violet starts and I cut my eyes in her direction.

She knows that nickname is off-limits. It was Jelly's and no one could use it again. She nervously clears her throat and starts again.

"It wasn't the boy's fault, Jungkook. That's not why we got into a fight."

"Well?" I question waiting for her to continue. She sighs and drops my hand.

"It was my fault. I told her no, she couldn't go and when she suggested calling you, I felt a little angry that she didn't want to listen to me, so I grabbed her and told her to call her boyfriend and tell him she couldn't go," she says rushed.

"You put your hands on my daughter?" I question and she shakes her head.

"No, I just grabbed her wrist. I just wanted her to listen to me, one time," she pleads and I can't make sense of it.

"Why wouldn't you just let her call me? I would have told her no. You aren't in charge of her, Violet!" I say bitterly upset that this was all for nothing.

"I know, I just...I mean, I know I'm not her mother but I've decided to make my life with you and her. Don't you think I should be able to make choices also?" she says angrily taking a step back from me.

"If you hadn't pushed her, we could have had an actual conversation about this! You never brought this up to me," I argue back and she scoffs in my face.

"I didn't realize I had to. I've never said anything when you reprimanded Crixus."

"That's different!"

"Really? Explain to me how it's different, Kook."

"Because she's MY daughter!"

"And he's MY son! You stepped in to be his father and I've let you!"

"You could never be her mother!" I shout back and watch as she recoils from me. Her face drops and she turns to go back upstairs.

"Violet. Wait, I'm sorry," I say but she doesn't look back at me.

The front door opens and I look over hoping it's my daughter but it's Crixus with a sad face.

"I can't find her," he mumbles.

"It's fine, she should be home soon. She doesn't have anything with her," I say patting his back.

"Can you uh, go check on your mom? We are fighting and I've messed up," I admit. His frown grows and he starts to walk upstairs.

"Please tell her I'm sorry I didn't mean it."

He nods and I sigh throwing myself on the couch waiting for Bells to come home.

It's one in the morning and Bells isn't home.

I'm frantic, I had spent a few hours talking to Violet and working things out. When I finally noticed the time it had been a few hours and I started to worry. I called her friends and even Vincent looking for her but none of them had seen or heard from her since earlier.

I had avoided calling the guys not trying to drag them into another problem but enough was enough. I was about to file a police report, my heart wouldn't stop racing and my head was pounding from all my worrying.

As soon as I started calling the guys they all became frantic too. They hadn't seen her either and were going to go out searching. Yoongi suggested I actually do make a police report and stay at my house until he gets there.

Just before I go to call them, my phone rings and Tae's name flashes across the screen.

"She's here! She's safe!"

"Thank fuck!" I sob out as relief floods my system.

"She passed out with Ollie. He said she showed up upset so he invited her in."

"Okay, I'll come to get her."

"What happened, Kook? Why did she come here on her own with nothing?" he questions and I can hear his accusing tone.

"She fought with Violet and then me..."

"Let her stay the night, man. I'll take her home in the morning after we talk."

"I need to see her."

"Just let her settle, man. It's one night."

"Okay."

Tae says good night and hangs up the phone. I barely get a wink of sleep and, when eight a.m. rolls around, I'm already ringing Tae. He explains that she isn't ready to come home so he will let her stay for the weekend.

Yoongs catches wind of what the argument was actually about and rips me a new one for not at least talking to his Little Bean before yelling at her. I already knew I had fucked things up with both girls in my life, I didn't need him to really dig into me.

I moped around all weekend until Tae called Sunday afternoon to say he was bringing my daughter home. I sat on the couch, my leg bouncing as I anxiously waited while Violet sat beside me. Crixus was sitting on the other sofa, it was decided a family meeting needed to happen so we could all move past this situation.

But when my daughter walked into the house and saw us all waiting for her, I could see the shock and then betrayal in her eyes.

"Please come sit, Arabella," I say and she quietly makes her way over to sit beside Crixus who rubs the top of her head with a smile.

It's now or never...
