Chapter 39: Let go
Charlie:
I thought she wouldn't even tried to call me. Seeing her with Max, I couldn't even express how much anger I had in me. I had to keep my cool and not punch him in his face. All Lucy did was talk about herself the entire time at Coldstone. I thought it was a form of apology but all she did was describe her dress for prom. I tuned her out, remembering nothing.
I dropped her off immediately when we were done and went straight home. Now I'm in front of Hannah's house twenty minutes after she called contemplating how this talk will go: will she want me back or just stay friends? But it needed to be taken slow.
Running my hands through my hair, trying to shake the nervousness from my body I opened my car door and got out. Walking to her front door, I rang the doorbell and waited for her to answer the door. I finally told my mom about Hannah, she told me that I go for her since she was the one. Also if I do reconcile with her, I should invite her over for dinner. I heard the door unlock from the other side, revealing Hannah wearing her blue striped pjs with a button down shirt; her hair messy like she just woke up or something.
"Hi," she said with a wide smile on her face. She's so cute.
"Hi, did you just wake up or something?" I asked with a smirk.
"No, well technically yeah. I was watching TV then I got a little sleepy then the doorbell woke me up." She pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear, looking down then she looked up at me to let me in. I go into the living room, seeing TV on a low volume.
"Are your parents' home?" I asked.
"Working late," she responded.
"I thought they were supposed to stay home to take care of you."
"That's when I couldn't walk. But I can, I'm on a brace and I'm fine. I can take care of myself Charlie."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Do you want something to drink or eat?"
"Just a drink, thanks." I followed her into the kitchen, she opened the fridge and handed me a can of Pepsi. She goes to the living room, me following her behind I checked out her butt. I know we're not together, but that doesn't stop me from checking her out. She has a nice ass.
"So you and Max, huh?" I asked when I sit down.
"So you and Lucy?" she retorted with a playful smile on her face when she sat next to me.
"There is no me and Lucy." I rolled my eyes at the thought of it.
"Then why were you with her today?" She rested her elbows on her knees.
"It was for an apology or so she claims to me and you two months ago."
"That's bullsh*t."
"My thoughts exactly but I thought I just I throw her a bone."
"A bone? Really?" She giggled, then I realized what I covered my face with my hands.
"That's not what I meant."
"It's fine, Charlie. I was joking." She shook her head as we shared a laugh.
"What about you and Max?" I asked when our laughter faltered down.
"Max is a nice guy, really sweet. I don't know, he seems determined."
"Determined for what?" I leaned forward to meet her gaze.
"Determined to know me, we're just friends."
"Just friends."
"Just friends." She nodded in confirmation as we stared at each other again.
"So what are we?" I asked. She bit her lip in wonderment; wanting to bite her lip for her.
"Charlie, you know I love you. So much has happened I don't think I can do us again." I breathed in deeply, taking in what she just said. She doesn't want to at least try? I can respect her decision but it's painful to not be with her.
"Can we at least be friends?" I asked with hope in my eyes, I could tell that she wanted that too when she nodded eagerly.
"Great." I smiled grimly.
"Good. So you want to watch a movie or something?" I become weak when I'm around her but if I leave I might not look back and forget about her.
"Yeah, what's on cable?" I reached for the remote but she's faster than me and got it first.
"Ha ha, we're watching 'Perks of Being a Wallflower.'" She changed it to the movie but I groaned.
"No, no drama. Something else please," I grabbed the remote but she held on to it.
"Let go," I said firmly.
"No you let go," she said. We playfully pulling the object back and forth, Hannah's strong. Pulling it with strong force, she pulled me down with her on the couch. Me on top of her, she got the remote and gloated. "Yes!" She yelled but I put her hands above her head hovering over her body, our faces close as ever.
"You think you can overpower me."I stated in a low, almost playful threatening voice.
"I just proved it" she said, biting her lip again. She's tempting me. I leaned in closer; my eyes kept going to her soft lips. Her eyes gaze to my mouth too, but she has a scared look on her face. "Charlie," she whispered but I couldn't take it anymore. I closed the distance between us, kissing her softly. Cupping her face, she's frozen at my touch but responded by grabbing my neck.
She pulled me closer, running her hands through my hair. I traced lines on her stomach as I kissed her neck, leaving a mark. I reached for her shirt, pulling the hem and thinking she would stop me. "We should head upstairs," she suggested softly and out of breath.
Our lips not leaving each others, "really?" I whispered to her mouth.
"Really," she said simply. She kissed my neck with small pecks, getting up from the couch she pulled me behind to the stairs. Instead of her leading the way, I lifted her up by her thighs she squealed in delight as I carried her bridal style to her room for an unforgettable night.
