Chapter 10: You gotta go

Chapter 10: You gotta go

Hannah:

I couldn't even get a chance to explain to Charlie about what happened at the mall today, with that girl all over his arm and Louis all over me, I couldn't get a word in edgewise. I told Louis that I had to go home before my parents get there, we found Linda in the food court and told her we had to go. She protested at first because she wanted to shop at Delia's but I told her my parents will be home soon. "You can go and be boring, Edward will pick her up."

"You're not talking to Edward, remember?" I said in a duh voice. Louis just looked at us like we were a sitcom, holding in his laugh.

"Oh yeah," she said sullenly, groaned in frustration,"fine let's go." Dragging her feet and pouting she followed us out of the mall and to the parking lot.

Louis dropped Linda off first and then took me home, saying he will see me at school. I waved bye to him, searched for my house keys and opened the front door. Before closing it, he's still in the driveway so I waved again and he waved back and drove away. Entering fully inside, a hint of guilt in the back of my mind. I needed to call Charlie to explain what happened. By the time I was dialing his number, I heard keys and the front door opened. "Hi sweetie!" My parents back from their errands, many grocery bags in their hands. I went over for help, placing them on the dining table and began sorting out the food they bought. And let me just say, I love what's in front of me: corn dogs, taquitos, yakisoba noodles, frozen waffles, assorted ice cream, eggs, bread, toaster strudel. Mom even bought me a whole box of pudding! I love her.

"You guys bought a lot from Costco didn't you?" I asked, trying to contain my excitement.

"Yeah and for good reason too," dad chimed in.

"Why?" I asked as I put in the last item in the freezer.

"Well, sweetie your dad and I are going on a business trip." Mom responded.

"Okay, for how long?" I raised my eyebrows in question.

"Two months. We leave next week." Dad concluded.

"Aww." I pouted. "Wait why?"

"Your dad and I have to meet with a client about a case and they can't travel to the states here." My parents are lawyers, they work long hours but still get time to spend it with me at home. I sometimes worry about them because of the hard work they do. Thinking this was a vacation for them but it's work related.

"Where is are you guys going?"

"Greece."

"Seriously?! You guys are going to Greece without me? That's supposed to be our family vacay!" I whined.

"I know sweetie, but I promise you when we get back, we'll go there in the summer and another place that you like," mom reassured me.

"Germany?" I suggested.

"Yes." She said and gave me a hug. They informed me that my Uncle Robert will come over to babysit. I wished I had siblings, I like my alone time but a sister or brother would be nice.

After dinner, I sat in my room watching a random show, contemplating to reread the After series by Anna Todd or something else. I decided to catch up on 'thirteen reasons why' by Jay Asher on my e-book app. Halfway into the book my phone began to ring, cutting off my chapter and plays my ringtone 'Ain't it fun' by Paramore. The caller ID reading Charlie. Anxious i sit up halfway on my elbows, what if he breaks up with me because of seeing Louis with me? I slid the icon to accept, putting the phone to my ear, but silent. "Hello, Hannah?" his low voice said on the other line.

"Hey," I answered shakily.

"You didn't call me," he responded.

"I was trying to but got sidetracked and"

"Open your back door." Confused at first but then realized he's at my house.

"You're here."

"Yeah, open the door or I might freeze to death," he tried to sound serious, fake chattering his teeth but he had an amused tone in his voice.

"Hold on," exiting my room and slowly stepping on the stairs for no creaks. All of the lights are turned off so I used my phone flashlight to see where I was going. I made my way to the kitchen where the back door is, opening it slightly for a peek. Charlie with his phone in hand he looked up, giving me a smile. I shushed him, grabbing his hand going upstairs and to my room. Successfully we do, and I closed my bedroom door quietly sighing with relief as I locked it.

"What are you doing here?" I whispered.

"I came to see you since we couldn't interact the mall." He's changed from what he wore at the mall to a black t shirt and sweatpants.

"You just get out of bed?" I asked him.

"No." He simply said.

"Nothing happened today. Linda wanted to go to the mall and Louis took us there. For some reason, she gave him my number at the party and told him I wanted to hang out with him. We were looking at jeans, then I saw you with the Julie girl and I thought about hiding but Louis blew my cover." I rambled, it shouldn't be explained but he had to know that it's not a big deal, He just started laughing. "What's so funny?" I frowned.

"You're so cute when you ramble" he said still chuckling..

"You're such a jerk." I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

"Hey, it's fine. I'm not mad," he came closer and cupped my hands with his, palms cold from the wind, "when I saw you with him, it did irritate me but I shrugged it off." I smiled, happy that he didn't make it into drama.he mirrored my expression. Our foreheads touched and I was breathing heavily waiting for him to kiss me. I beat him to it by kissing his rough lips, he held me on my waist, close to his chest.

"I missed you today," I spoke into his mouth.

"I missed you too." Charlie said, his motion of our lips speeding up.

"You can't get enough of me," I teased, ruffling his hair, he chuckled kissing my nose.

"Where did you park anyway?"

"Relax. I parked a block from here and walked." I nodded at his response, kissing again. Charlie has only been to my house twice, the same with me at his house so we can get familiar with each other and know where the other lives.

"Charlie, you have to go or my parents will freak," I said breathlessly pushing him away but he gripped my waist harder, trailing his lips to my neck.

"No they won't. They're asleep."

"Yeah but my dad has his hourly bathroom breaks and very alert when he wakes up. So I don't want him thinking you're a burglar, you gotta go." He lets go, reluctantly agreeing and exited my room. I followed him downstairs and to the kitchen, led him outside he gave me a kiss goodnight. I locked the door behind him, looking through the window until his figure disappeared in the darkness. Going back upstairs a shadowed figure in front of the bathroom made me jump a foot. "Oh my god mom you scared me," I held my chest, breathing in and out to slow down my heart rate.

"What were you doing downstairs?" she asked tiredly.

"I drank some milk," I lied smoothly.

"Why are you up so late anyway? It's almost one a.m."

"I was reading, it's the weekend."

"You shouldn't make a habit of it."

"I know."

"Get some sleep sweetie. Night." She yawned, patted my arm and made her way to the bathroom.

"Goodnight," I returned saying and went into my room, shutting my lights and covering myself with my blankets. That was a close one.
