"I'll take a long cotton swab and just swab the back of your mouth, then we'll send it to the lab and we'll call you tomorrow to let you know the results." The doctor explained, then got up and went to the small counter in the corner of the room. "Once I call you to let you know what you have, you can just go to the clinic downstairs and sign in, then they'll give you a slip so you can pick up the prescribed medicine at your pharmacy near home. I'll make sure to throw in a pamphlet for the type of medicines you can buy at your pharmacy to help calm the symptoms as well. Does that sound good?"
"Yes." I heard Dad, Papa, and Bubba say behind me while I nodded.
The doctor looked a little nervous but he walked closer and opened up the packaged tube, then pulled a long cotton swab out. "Alright, open your mouth, and stick your tongue out."
I did as he said and he stuck the cotton swab in my mouth and I felt him swab the back of my throat. He pulled his hand back and put the cotton swab into the tube, then closed it.
"That's it. I'll send this in and we'll figure out what it is you have." He turned to look at my parents. "I'll call whoever's number we have saved on the computer in the morning tomorrow, then you can come pick up the slip. That's all for today."
"Thank you, Doctor." I heard Dad say and the man smiled.
"No problem." He opened the door and we followed him out.
We left and walked out, then Dad had to sign some last few forms before we could leave.
Like Ollie and Felix had said, Dad picked me up last night and took me home. I slept overnight at their house and was taken care of by all three of my parents. I felt so spoiled and happy, so I was feeling a bit better.
I made sure to message my cousins, Georgie, Romeo, and Dino to tell them that I would be back home by tomorrow after I found out what it is I had.
We left the building and Bubba placed his arm over my shoulders as we made our way to the car. "What do you want for breakfast?"
"Waffles." I leaned into his side and he nodded.
"We'll get some waffles for breakfast, then." He kissed my head and opened my door once we reached his car.
I thanked him and Dad came in the back with me, pulling me to his side and rubbing my right thigh.
"After we eat breakfast, your bubba and papa will have to head to work, ok? I'll stay home and take care of you." Dad kissed my head and I pouted a bit but nodded.
"Do you think we can pick up Romeo and Dino so they can see our house? It'll be their first time seeing the house." I asked and hoped Dad would say yes.
"Mm, yeah. We'll go pick them up once school is over, though."
I quickly nodded with a smile and set my head on Dad's shoulder. "We can surprise them by going over. We can bring Georgie, too!"
Dad hummed and listened as I rambled on.
Bubba pulled into a parking space about half an hour later, then Dad pulled me out of the car. We walked into the cute, retro-looking diner and Bubba asked for a table for four.
The host told us to wait a few minutes, so we sat down on the cushioned seats and Papa gently rubbed my nape. "You need a haircut, Lucio."
"Yeah, but I want it just long enough so I can still put it half up, half down."
"You can get a haircut after breakfast." Papa peeked over me to look at Dad. "Lucio says he wants a haircut."
"You do?" Dad asked and placed his hand on my head, gently playing with my hair. "It is pretty long, so we can get you one."
I nodded and we sat on the seats for a few more minutes before we were called up. The young lady led us to an empty booth and set our menus down, then she left us to figure out what we wanted for our drinks.
"What are you going to want?" Bubba asked from beside me and I hummed, then smiled like a little kid.
"Apple juice."
"I knew it." He chuckled and began looking through the menu.
The waitress came back and took our drink orders, but Bubba told her that we were also ready to order. She took our orders, then left after saying she would be back with our drinks.
I looked out the window and coughed a bit into my sweater, feeling my chest throb a bit. I felt a hand land on my left thigh and looked up at Bubba, noticing that he was wearing a worried expression.
"Hopefully you just have a little cough, and it's nothing too serious."
I nodded and leaned into his side, but he quickly wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
The waitress came back with our drinks and I took a few sips of my apple juice. I pulled my phone out and looked at my messages, seeing a few from Georgie, Romeo, and Dino in our group chat.
Georgie just asked if I could give our parents a good morning kiss. Romeo asked how I was doing and how I slept, while Dino asked when I was going back to the house.
I sent a quick message and told them that we had a surprise for them after school. Within a few seconds, they all asked what it was but I simply told them that they would have to wait until school ended.
"Here you guys go..." The waitress came by and set our plates down on the table. "Enjoy your meal."
"Thank you."
I immediately dug into my waffle after pouring some syrup on it. I happily ate my food and didn't forget to eat my eggs, hash browns, and sausages. I hummed and heard my parents coo at me while they ate their breakfast as well.
"I'm full..." I sat back and patted my stomach, grabbing my napkin and wiping my mouth.
"We're almost done, too." Dad said across from me and I nodded.
I took a few more sips of my apple juice until I ran out and patiently waited for Dad, Papa, and Bubba to finish their breakfast. Once they did, Bubba asked for the bill and paid, then we cleaned the table up a bit and left.
Papa held my hand as we made our way to the car and sat in the backseat with me. Bubba drove us home and we got out of the family car.
Since Bubba and Papa were already dressed up in their nice suits, I pouted a bit when they hugged me. "Can't you take the day off?"
"You know we wish we could, but we already took a long break just a week ago." Bubba kissed my cheek and I frowned a bit. He gently cupped my face and kissed my forehead, then my lips. "I love you, ok?"
I blushed a little and nodded. "I love you too, Bubba!"
He rubbed my head, then made space for Papa, who hugged me tightly. "You'll be able to be with Georgie, Romeo, and Dino later, Lucio."
"I know, but I wanted you guys to stay, too."
Papa awed and kissed my head, then my lips. "Well, we'll be coming back to you with your hair being shorter, so wait for us to come back later tonight, ok?"
"Yes, Papa. I love you." I kissed his cheek and he smiled.
"I love you too, Luci."
Papa went to say bye to Dad, then Dad and I watched Papa and Bubba hop in the car and drive away.
"Alright, time for your haircut, Luci!" Dad clapped his hands and we hopped into his G-wagon, which he's had since he was seventeen, but it was really nice.
Dad drove us to the barber shop where we usually got our haircut, which took about half an hour to get to. We walked in and Dad signed in for me while I sat on the plastic chairs against the wall near the windows.
The barber shop was just like any other barber shop with bright lights and the stations with the spinny chair and the mirror. There were eight stations in total and all of them were taken up.
"So you still want it long enough for you to tie it up?" Dad asked and I nodded.
"I want Papa to be able to do my hair in braids."
Dad hummed, then smiled. "Your Papa used to do my hair when we were younger. I had mine a bit longer than I do now, and one day he said that he wanted to do my hair since he had been learning for the past month or so. I think he gave me the same braids he does to your hair today."
"So he learned how to braid hair for you?" I raised a brow, then smiled when Dad nodded. "He seemed to do everything for you."
"Yeah. He did a lot of stuff for me when we were younger, and he still does. Both your Papa and Bubba still do. And since we have you and your brother, and now Romeo and Dino, we'll make sure to do many things so you guys can grow to be happy." Dad smiled and kissed my head.
I could feel my face redden and whined, setting my head down on his shoulder. I suddenly felt fuzzy and warm and wanted to be even more spoiled by my dad, but we were out in public.
I was called up after a little more than five minutes and Dad followed me as we greeted the barber, Carlos, whom we've known for many years now. He was about the same age as Dad.
"Hey, how are you guys doing?" He asked Dad and I.
"Good." Dad replied for the both of us. "I brought Lucio since his hair is quite long."
"Alright, alright." Carlos nodded, and patted the seat. I sat down and he spun the chair to face the mirror. "So what do you want today, Lucio? A buzz cut?"
Carlos and Dad laughed behind me while I shook my head with an awkward chuckle. "Nah, I just wanted my hair cut long enough so I can still tie it up."
"Ok, I can do that for you." Carlos nodded and grabbed the sanex strip that wrapped around my neck, then snapped the cape around my neck. Carlos looked over at my dad as he grabbed the stuff that he needed to cut my hair with. "Is Lucio the only one getting a haircut today?"
"Yeah."
Carlos nodded and he started parting sections of my hair after spraying water all over it. "How has Amir, Enzo, and Georgie been doing?"
For the next fifteen minutes or so, Carlos talked with my dad as he cut my hair. "Alright, are you ready to see your wonderful and super amazing haircut?"
I chuckled as I nodded and Carlos spun me around so I could look into the mirror. I smiled and turned my head a bit. Carlos grabbed a mirror and showed me the back, and Dad looked at my hair.
"It looks really good like always, Carlos." Dad and I said in sync and Carlos smiled.
"I'm the best." He complimented himself and Dad laughed.
Carlos unclipped the cape from around my neck and took the strip of sanex as well. I got up and followed Carlos and Dad to the counter. Dad quickly paid and left a tip, and we thanked Carlos, telling him that we would see him some other time.
I used the hair tie that I had brought with me and tied my hair half up, half down and sighed in content. I hopped into Dad's car and he drove us home.
"What do you want for dinner?" I heard him ask as I looked out the window.
"Mm, pasta!"
"Any kind?"
"Yeah, I just really want some pasta."
"Ok. We'll take a trip to the store, then we'll head home."

"What's the surprise, Lucio?" Georgie asked as he kissed mine and Dad's cheeks.
"Uncle Xavier!" All my cousins rushed over to Dad and pushed me and Georgie out of the way.
Dad laughed and greeted all of my cousins with a kiss on the cheek. "Calm down, boys."
"Are you making dinner for us?" Tony asked with hopeful eyes, and Dad shook his head.
"Unfortunately, not today. I'll be taking Georgie home with me for the night, along with Romeo and Dino."
Vito gasped loudly. "Are we not your favorite?!"
Dad sighed since he knew what this was going to lead to, we all did. "They're my favorite because they're my kids. I love all of you guys as my nephews, Vito. You guys are my family as well. It's just different with my four boys."
Vito huffed and pouted. "No fair."
"I'll adopt you if your parents let you, V."
"Dad and Pops will get mad at you, though." Rocky said to his younger brother and Vito nodded.
"True." He looked at my dad. "Nevermind, Uncle Xavier. I'm not mad anymore."
Dad just laughed and talked with my cousins.
"Well, Dad already said it, but we came to pick you, Romeo, and Dino up. We'll be sleeping over at our parents' house for the night." I smiled and Georgie left, running up the stairs.
I smiled to myself and pecked Frankie's cheek. He turned to me and furrowed his brows.
"Are you feeling better, Luci?"
"Mhm! Tomorrow I'll find out what I have, so I can get better." I explained and he nodded.
"You got a haircut." He said.
"You were the first one to notice that."
"Well...you can tell since it's a lot shorter than before." He gently played with my hair and I nodded.
"It was too long before. You like your hair a bit longer than mine, huh?"
Frankie nodded and we continued to talk quietly.
Georgie came down with a large duffel bag and a jacket on. "I'm ready!"
"Look, I'll make it up to you boys next week. I'll come by and cook you all some dinner. How about that?" Dad asked my cousins, and they all quickly nodded.
"Yes!"
Dad smiled and we began saying bye to our cousins. Georgie threw his bag in the trunk, and hopped in the back, while I took the passenger seat.
We drove to the dorms and parked in the parking lot, walking inside the building. Since school just got out, there was a long line for the three elevators.
"You know their dorm number, right?" Dad asked me and I nodded.
"It's on the eighth floor, room thirteen."
"M-Mr. Xavier Genovese!" A slim boy yelled out near the front of the line, and all the kids turned to face us. "Would y-you like to get through to the elevator?""
"Ah, yes." Dad nodded and pulled Georgie and I with him as people made room for us. We even got to get the next elevator all to ourselves. "Thank you...?"
"John!" The slim boy blushed as he looked down, bowing his head at Dad.
"Thank you, John." Dad patted his left shoulder and pressed the button to close the elevator doors.
I sighed and leaned against the wall once the elevator started moving up. "Great now he's going to start bugging us during school, Dad."
"Be quiet. You should be making more friends."
"But they're using us for business." Georgie said beside me and I quickly nodded.
"And?" Dad turned his head to us with a smirk. "We can use them for business, too."
It took a few seconds to sink in and I sighed. "See, I don't think about these things because I just get annoyed."
"I can tell." Dad laughed and I pouted.
We got off on the eighth floor and looked for the thirteenth door. Once we stopped in front of it, I knocked as Dad stopped near the wall.
I heard talking inside, then the door opened, Philip's face appearing. "What the hell do you-"
"Hey, Junior." Dad popped his head in and Philip smiled nervously.
"Sir, uh...I haven't seen you in a long time."
"Yup. How are your parents doing?" He asked.
"Uh, they're doing good. What are you doing here, sir? Come in." He gestured to us to come in and Georgie and I glared at Philip.
Philip's dad is actually an old friend of Uncle Gio's, so Dad has met Philip junior a good handful of times. We've actually known Philip almost our whole lives, but for some reason, he didn't like us. He did act nice and normal around our parents, though.
"We came by to pick up Romeo and Dino." Dad looked around the simple dorm room.
"Oh..." Philip nodded, then his friend came by and greeted Dad, starting up a conversation with him.
"Dami?" We looked up and saw Romeo on the stairs. "What are you guys doing here?"
Dad smiled. "We came to pick you and Dino up. Lucio thought it was a good idea if you both were able to come to our house for the first time."
Romeo nodded and called for Dino, then quickly came down the stairs and hugged Dad. We heard a door slam open and Dino ran down the stairs, crashing into Dad's side which made him laugh.
"You missed me that much, Dino?"
"Yeah."
"I missed you a lot too, Dami!" Romeo pouted and Dad kissed his and Dino's cheeks.
"I missed you both, too." He gently patted their heads. "Go pack a bag. I was telling Romeo that Lucio thought it was a good idea if I brought you guys to our home for the first time, so you'll get to spend the night."
"Really?" Dino asked while Romeo ran up the stairs.
"Yup, so hurry and pack a bag."
Dino nodded and went upstairs, and within twenty minutes, we were out of the dorm and hopping in Dad's car.
"Have you boys showered yet?"
"No, we were going to shower but then you surprised us." Romeo said in a happy voice behind me.
"Did you like the surprise?" Dad looked at them through the mirror, and all three of them nodded.
"Yeah!"
"Well, as soon as we get home, you boys can take a shower, then have a snack until dinner."
"Ok!"
