Chapter 9 - Decision
Henrie blushed automatically at that response and his heart followed it beating frantically. He decided not to answer, but he also seemed to have won the rest of the night with that. He just put his cell phone aside and managed to sleep soundly.
Tod, for his part, was already asleep, before he even expected any response from him. The next another day the two seemed to wake up completely lighter. Tod got out of bed early, got ready and went to help his mother, which was not easy to see.
"Good morning!" He exclaimed with a smile from ear to ear.
"Good morning, darling" She replied. "But can I know the reason for such joy?"
"Actually... There's no reason" He lied.
"Seriously? I've never seen you so excited since we traveled to the beach."
"Beach? Wow! You're right. It was a good time." He said hugging his mother from behind. "We could schedule another trip, don't you think?" He asked giving a kiss on her cheek.
She was completely confused by kind behavior. Tod has always been a loving son, but not at that level. She just smiled, pressed his cheek and then picked up two plates for breakfast. They then continued to talk about the trip he had never forgotten, and so it was a sublime breakfast for both of them.
However, at the Henrie's house could not be said. He also woke up with extreme happiness, but the only person at that moment that he could share that with was the maid, who somehow couldn't escape his grips and joys. Mrs. Carla who was always in the family, so much so that she already felt like his mother, but she was not always at home, as she also had children to look after.
Henrie, in turn, asked if she had breakfast, because he wants a company for that. He always called her, but she never accepted. However, that day he insisted so much that she ended up giving in and at least sitting at the table.
"Look Henrie, if your mom catches me sitting here, I might get fired."
"You can rest assured, because no one else you know my mom doesn't stay in this house much, so don't worry, and even if she was, I wouldn't let her do that to you". He smiled eating some toasts.
"You look very happy; your face is flushed. Your relationship with Mrs. Lucy." She replied with a smile on her face.
Henrie almost chocked on toast when she heard that, but decided not to answer. He just smiled and continued to eat. He then looked at his watch and saw that it was already time for the bus to pass, and then hurried to go.
"Carla, could you tell the driver that I'm no going with him today? Thanks, bye!" He said leaving towards the door and running to the bus stop.
As soon as it got to the point, the bus was already turning around the corner. His blood was boiling from doing that little marathon to the stop. The bus then parked and he got in desperate, so much so that he didn't even respond to the driver. He went to the back of the bus where everything had happened and sat down. So, the bus went on for several minutes until it approached the stop bus near Tod's house. His heart started to race again.
When the bus stopped at the stop and the door opened, he searched every face the entered Tod's face, but unfortunately none of them were his. His countenance fell instantly. He took breath and tried to control himself. So, he started to think if he was already like that only with his possible presence, imagine what it would be like if he were really there? He tried to calm himself more and more until he finally relaxed.
Arriving at the school he didn't find Tod in the entrances, let alone in the corridors, so he went to the living room and realized that Lucy was already there. He just came in and sat down next to her without saying a single word, and she did the same.
Tod, in turn, arrived at the school with his mother, who was thoughtful about the beach, travel and the like. He said goodbye to her with a kiss on the cheek and went at his office meeting Fred on the way.
"Good Morning!" Tod greeted him with a huge smile.
"Hmmm." Replied Fred. "Did something happen for so much happiness in that little face?" She joked, squeezing his cheek.
"Wow! Why is everyone asking me this today?"
"I don't know, tell me... Are you hiding some dark secret or new love?"
"Of course... not..." He hesitated.
"Okay then, I just I'm not the last to know, otherwise I'll be very hurt."
Tod just smiled hard, but moved on.
Classes were quick this time, perhaps for the reason that each of them was thinking about their own little world and didn't pay attention in class.
Tod and Fred were talking as usual most of the time, while Henrie was just thinking about the dream and if Tod would really have come to class, so much so that he thought about sending a message to make sure, but he thought it was too hasty, since he would have to see him at the council after the class, then decided to wait.
Lucy was boiling inside when she saw that Henrie just ignored her, but she kept her pose looking completely serene.
As soon as classes were over, she couldn't stand it and left in anger directly to the council room. Henrie followed shortly, but didn't approached.
The council room was empty when they arrived. Lucy started organizing some things for the meeting while Henrie sat there, fiddling with his cell phone without maintaining any eye contact. Some group presidents began to arrive and take their places, one by one, until Tod finally arrived. Henrie opened her eyes wide and took a deep breath trying to maintain his pose, but it seemed completely impossible for him in that situation.
"Well, since they are all here, let's start diving some tasks that will be necessary for each group to have the best performance.
Tod just looked for his place and sat down listening to what Lucy had to say. She continued to explain her project, and that she would need to review the funds and budgets of each group, the number of members, and how each member could help in the development of the group. She also explained about the groups that were in critical analysis to be closed and what strategy she had for them.
Tod was impressed with the proposal presented, so much so he didn't even decide to question it or something. At the end of the meeting, Tod sat down next to Henrie to discuss the policies of their group, as they would be on the same team.
"So, I think we should arrange meetings after classes that we'll not have council reunion to solve each group, don't you think?"
Henrie was so disconnected at the time that he stared at Tod and didn't even realize what he had just asked.
"Henrie?! Are you okay?" Tod asked passing his hand in front of his eyes.
"Ye... Yes..." He stammered. I think we should do that."
Tod found that reaction strange, but he couldn't even say another word, as Henrie had interrupted him:
"Sorry, I'll be right back."
Henrie stood up with a thought-infested head. Everything that had happened between them last night and about the dream about Tod, the recent fights with Lucy, it all came out as a flash. His head couldn't take such confusion anymore, he needed to solve all that.
Lucy was talking to some presidents at the moment, and with having the least education, Henrie took her arm with a little force. She started and turned to make sure who it was and her eyes met his. His eyes were completely confused and lost, she could see that and was scared, but before she could ask anything, he said:
"We need to talk, now!"
