Chapter 1
Hydi's POV
I sat on a park bench thinking about how I was going to get my next meal.
I've been living on the streets pretty much my entire life. Yea every once in a while, I get taken in by a foster home or orphanage, but I never seem to stay longer that a few years. The longest I've stayed in one foster home was almost three years. No known family and no friends.
Great life. I know. But it's not the worst! I could be abandon and left to die. But being alone in the world is almost bad enough.
Every once in a while, an old woman will give me money or food or clothing but I can survive on my own for the most part. I carry out little jobs for people and they give me a little money but I try not to let them give it to me.
No one talks to me either. It's almost like I'm invisible even though they look right at me. It's like I have a deadly disease and if you even talk to me you could be poisoned.
I can fend for myself on almost every occasion. I've made a nice little home in an alley and a bed in a box. It's actually quite comfortable.
There's also a very nice man that owns a bakery not too far from my little "home". He puts out the burnt or unused goods for the homeless.
There's a public drinking fountain in the park and I got a cheap water bottle at a thrift store and that's where I get all my water from. So my life's not too bad here. My only problem is that I get lonely.
I was starting to get hungry so I decided that I would go and see if the baker left out and burnt bread or pastries. What I found made my heart leap with fright.
There was a boy standing there. He looked about 17 but his hair was pure white, like snow and he was holding what looked like a cane.
"Hello!" He said cheerfully to me.
"Who are you?" I asked, backing up.
"So you can see me?" He asked. I was about to laugh out loud but the look on his face was serious.
"Yes," I said cautiously
"Perfect!" He said. He held out his hand. "I'm Jack by the way. Jack Frost."
"You mean like that one ice dude?" I said, not wanting to touch a stranger.
He let his hand fall and let out an exasperated sigh. "Yes! I'm that ice dude!" He held out his hand again.
This time I shook it. "Hydi," I said. "I don't know my last name. I'm an orphan."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Hydi," he said, smiling at me. His smile was weird, like it belonged to someone who pulled pranks and laughed a lot.
"Come with me," he said.
"Excuse me?! I am not going anywhere with you, mister!" I said pulling out of his grip. "Stay away from me!" I started to run.
"No! Wait!" He yelled at me. I didn't turn around. I kept running until...
"Get off me!" I screamed as he grabbed the hood of my sweatshirt.
"We can do this the easy way, or the hard way! Your choice!" He said, not letting go of my hood.
"I'll call the police!" I yelled, clawing at my collar.
"Ok," he said. "The hard way."
He let go of me and even before I even thought of running away, he grabbed onto my wrist and started to fly.
I don't really remember the ride itself but I know that I was terrified. I looked up and saw that he was actually flying! I was even to scared to scream most of the ride.
When he finally landed on the ground, I gave him a good slap in the face.
"Why have you kidnaped me!!!" I shouted at him. "Bring me home right now!"
"Ow." He put his hand on his cheek. "Did you have to do that?"
"Where are we!" I demanded.
"Hydi. Welcome to the North Pole!" He said.
I looked around. It was freezing! How was he not freezing to death? He wasn't even wearing shoes!
"Why am I here?" I asked a little bit nicer.
"Your our new recruit!" He said as if I was suppose to get what he was saying.
"What does that m-" I was cut short by a black shape soared above my head. "Was that a...a..."
"Dragon?" Jack said. "Yup. That's Toothless. He's Hiccup's dragon. He has an interesting story that's worth hearing. Mine too. And Merida's. And Rapunzle's.
This was too much for me. He must of noticed I was shivering because he then took me inside. When we got inside, I thought I had seen everything that day but nope.
The weirdest thing was probably the Yetis. They were everywhere!
I don't know how long I was standing there, but Jack started to wave a hand over my eyes.
"YooHoo!" He said. "Earth to Hydi!
I probably said something really smart like 'Hugh?"
"Common," he said. "I'll show you where you will be sleeping. I'm gonna let Hiccup or Punzie give you a tour because they're a lot better than I am at it."
He took me to a huge room. There were two beds that appeared to be occupied. There was a big window and a bathroom. There was also a mirror and carpet on the floor.
"Sorry. We still need to get you a bed made. We'll get right on that." He said. "Anyways, the kitchen is downstairs, second door on the right if you need anyone, just five us a call."
He walked away and I walked up to the window. Recruit? What was that suppose to mean? I didn't know anyone that would know these people! And what was I recruited for exactly?
"It's nice isn't it?" Said a voice behind me. I spun around and found a girl with LONG blond hair. My red hair wasn't even that long and I've been living on the streets for the past year and a half! She was holding a box that I recognised. "Sorry to frighten you. My name's Rapunzle, by the way, but you can call me Punzie or Punz." She smiled at me and offered me the box.
I looked down at the box. I saw all my things that I owned through my life. My baby blanket, my "pillow", my water bottle, extra clothes, food, money and everything else.
"Where did you find this?" I asked her.
She looked at me and blushed. "We were tracking you because we needed to find you."
I looked at my stuff. It was the only thing I had left in this strange place.
"Why me?" I asked.
"I'm sorry." She said. "I don't know."
I looked up at her. "Are you the one that is going to give me the tour?" I asked.
"Oh, no." She said. "Hiccup said that he would. Just to warn you, he's a, um, Viking."
I almost dropped the box.
"A what?!"
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Rapunzle said.
A girl with fiery red, untamed hair came in. She had a bow and wore a blue dress.
"Oh! Hello!" She said with a distinct Scottish accent. "Am I interrupting something important?"
"No." Punzie said. She gestured to me. "Merida, this is Hydi. Hydi, Merida."
"Hello." I said shaking her hand.
" We'll give you time to get set up," Punzie said. "We'll try to get your bed in as soon as we can! Just set your stuff down somewhere then come down to the kitchen. It's the fifth door on the left."
"Ok. Thank you." I said as they left. I put down the box and tried to possess all of this. Viking? A flying boy? Ugh!
I decided to go to lunch because I was starving. The baker didn't have anything out today so I settled with a granola bar instead. Not too bad, but not my favorite.
I walked down the hallway and found the kitchen. Jack, Merida, Rapunzle and a skinny tallish boy with brown hair where already there.
"Hey, Hydi!" Jack said. "This is Hiccup."
"Nice to met you, Hiccup," I said, shaking his hand. He smiled at me. "You too."
"So," Jack said. "Are you hungry?"
I nodded.
"Well, what do you want?" He asked.
"I don't know." I said. "What are you guys eating?"
"We usually eat whatever we want," Merida said.
"Hmm..." I thought about it for a little bit. "How about, a corn dog?"
"Sure!" Rapunzle said with a smile. "It will only take a minute."
I watched her run around the kitchen and collect all the supplies. I wasn't use to rely on other people to make stuff for me, that I forgot how good it feels. I smiled.
"What is it?" Jack asked, setting my smile.
"Oh. It's nothing," I said. "It's just I forgot how good it feels to be able to put my trust in others."

Chapter 2
Hiccup's POV
We had been trying to get Hydi here for almost a month now. North said that there was something special about her. We still weren't sure if what powers she possessed. Yet.
We knew that she had no known family and we tried to help her without being seen. It was almost impossible with our appearances, but somehow we managed to get the Baker to put out bread and got her a nice box to sleep in.
But now that she was here, we weren't sure what she was capable of. She could have any powers in the world. Ice, wind, earth, water, sun, moon, sleep, anything! I, for one, don't have any powers. And Merida too. We where powerless but not useless. We have our skills. Merida's good with a bow and I'm pretty good with dragons.
Now, how did you get here, you may ask. Well that, my friend, is a whole different story. Lets just say, long story short, Jack found me and the others and we defeated our enemies once again. You know. Mother Gothol, Pitch Black, Mordu, and Alivin. I haven't seen the Green Death yet, but I'm sure he's put there somewhere!
So the day that Jack brought her here, I was just taking Toothless on a nice flight because he needed to speed his wings and fly! He's been cooped up far too long that he's been getting a little restless. I think that he just needs a companion.
Jack didn't tell me that he was picking her up and when your flying a dragon and people suddenly appear in front of you, it's kinda hard to change direction. And besides, she was going to see way weirder stuff then dragons.
Anyhow, then Rapunzle told me that I was going to be giving her the tour. Wow thanks for the heads-up. Besides, North would be way better at it! He knows this place inside out! Not that I'm complaining or anything but, I just got here about two months ago! And this place is huge!
So anyways, Toothless and I flew to the sables that north had made for him. He seemed comfortable enough, but I could tell that he really liked it when he was flying. I made sure he was "at home" and fed before I went inside.
I walked into the workshop and looked around. I still couldn't get over the fact that this place was real. I stomped the snow off my boot and started to walk to the kitchen.
"Ugh-uh!" Came a voice from the left side of me. I turned and saw a very annoyed Rapunzel. She was holding a box that held all of Hydi's things. "Your not getting the floors that I sweep and mop dirty!" She said. I took off my boot and put it in the shoe basket. She started to walk to the girl's room when she called "Don't forget to wipe your other "foot"!"
"Yes, Mother!" I called back as I cleaned off my prosthetic. The thought of not having a foot was still weird. Even if it had been two years, I don't think I'll ever get use to it!
I got up and went in the kitchen. "Hey, Meri," I said to Merida as I walked by. I grab some stuff to make a sandwich with.
"Hey, Hic!" Did you know that there's a new guardian?"
"Yes, actually. I almost ran her over with my dragon."
"You what?!?!"
"Well, it's kind of hard to stop a 300 pound dragon going at full speed! And besides, they were the ones that used the portal in our daily flight path!" I said to her.
"You should have been more careful, Hic! Or North's going to take him away and lock him in a cage somewhere."
"He'd never do that!" I said. "Not when I'm alive."
She shrugged at me. She started off down the hall. "Where are you going?" I called after her.
"To check on the new guardian!" She called back. Yippee! I was going to be the last one to meet her. I decided to make lunch.
It was nice that North had shown me how to use the microwave and stove. I was still amused at how they worked!
Jack walked in. "Your making lunch for us?" He asked.
"Not for you," I said turning back to my sandwich.
"Aw. Come on!" He complained. "I can't convince the girls to do it!"
"That's why I'm not making it for you. Your going to have to make your own food one of these days. Besides," I turned around. "Your older then me."
"You know that I only eat once in a while! I don't usually eat! I don't need to." He said. I ignored him. I wasn't going to be the weak, pushover he meet a few months ago.
Merida and Raupunzle came down. "Do either of you have any idea when Hydi's bed is going to be ready?" Rapunzle asked us. I shook my head.
She started to get the stuff out to make her lunch. Jack came over and tapped her on the shoulder. Before he could open his mouth, she said "Oh, Jack. Why can't you just learn to cook yourself?" And with that, she began to make him lunch.
He smiled at her "Thanks, mom!" She glared at him, but didn't say anything. We all started calling her that about 3 weeks ago. She didn't seem to mind it.
Oh dear...
