Chapter 8- A friend
Shard stomped around his room, ignoring Polar's commands.
"SHARD! COME OUT RIGHT NOW!" Polar finally said after Shard ignoring him again....for the fifth time.
"I'm sorry, DAD. JEEZ. LEAVE ME ALONE ALREADY!" Shard screamed at the door. MY MOONS, this guy just wouldn't leave him alone!
Polar glared silently from the other side of the door. "No. I'm not. I'll wait here all day." He said.
"WHY? WHY DO YOU CARE?" Shard asked, waving his hands in the air angrily.
Polar sighed. "BECAUSE I can! Why don't you want someone to care about you? What's wrong with that?" He asked. The real reason was....Shard reminded him of himself when he was young.
Shard grumbled and plopped down on his bed. "No one has...before." he mumbled.
Polar was silent for a moment, he grabbed a key he had to the room (he was a guard) and opened the door.
Shard stared at him. Was he going to hurt him? Oh no. He has been bad again-
And then, unexpectedly, Polar hugged the dragonet. Shard blinked in surprise. "What are you doing?" He asked. Was this dragon an Icewing? Icewings were not kind. They did not hug.
Polar pulled away. "I was comforting you. You really must have had horrible parents, didn't you?" He asked softly.
"I don't know. I never met them. And I don't wanna talk about it." He said, waving a hand.
Polar nodded. Orphan...or just abandoned? He didn't know. But he did know Shard needed a friend. An allie. Someone to look out for him.
Shard looked out the window, practicing his angry face.
"So. You need to prepare for tommorow." Polar said.
Shard nodded determinedly.
And maybe Polar could be that dragon.
