One Shard.

Shard panicked a little, on the inside. This was a test. He knew it.

As he studied the dragons, trying to plan his strategy, someone suddenly reached behind him and grabbed Shard by the horn. They threw him against the wall before he could do anything.

He felt the same wave of fear he had felt when Sheveara threw him against the wall. He heard a CRACK!

Shard picked his head up, growling. He darted forward, got behind the dragon and pinned him down. "How?" You ask?

Shard had gotten on his back and pressed the pressure point between his wings, making him paralyzed.

The other Icewings were shocked at him, but kept coming. And he kept paralyzing them. He did get thrown around a bit. And he was bleeding in several places....but he was winning.

An hour later

Well, until he got to the last, the guard from before. Shard grabbed a table and threw it at him, making him fumbled to catch the massive thing. He quickly hit the bag while he was distracted.

Shard panted, out of breathe and exhausted from that.

The general slowly clapped. Shard turned to look at him, scowling.

And then he stopped, clearly annoyed.
"Alright....SHARD. You think you have what it takes to join? To defend, to kill, to pledge loyalty?" He asked.

Did he? He was only a year- no. He had to stop making excuses for his weakness. But....killing? Was he okay with that? And loyalty....he would have to learn what that was first-

He looked the general in the eye, confidence gleaming in Shard's pale blue eyes.

"Yes. I know I do."

"Good. Then you won't mind going out on the first mission, won't you?" The general asked and Shard's heart sunk.
