Bewildered, I stare at the man before me for a few moments. That is, until, a suppressible smile stretches across my face.
My dad left to pursue his career in the military six months ago, I haven't seen him since. He's kept in touch, though. But not enough to make me not miss him tremendously.
"Dad!" I shout happily and rush towards him. I didn't know he was due back, this is a complete surprise to me. He rarely has time to even call us, never mind come home to visit.
"Hi, sweetheart." He hugs me back tightly.
It feels nice, to encounter with my own dad without a bad signal interrupting us. He used to call my mom and I, one every fortnight when he had time to spare. This is exactly what I need right now.
"I didn't know you were coming back." I tell him after I pull away slightly.
"Neither did I," he says honestly. "But when I called your mom and found out what happened, I couldn't not visit."
"I'm sorry if I worried you." I apologise.
"Don't say you're sorry, Angelina. I'd do anything for my daughter."
"Thanks, dad."
"Lina?" I turn after hearing the familiar soft voice. I notice Jimin standing by the doorway, a slightly confused look set upon his features.
"Oh, Jimin, this is my dad," I introduce him shortly. "And dad this is my, em, boyfriend, Jimin."
My dad has never been too overprotective when it comes to boys, but he likes to be kept informed. I glance at him worriedly, relieved when I see a smile on his face.
"Boyfriend, huh?" He grins and Jimin nervously nods before stepping forward.
"It's nice to meet you." He bows politely.
Ten minutes later, my dad and I are catching up inside the visiting area. Jimin returned to our friends inside the cafeteria whilst I left with my dad. He talks to me about the military and his friends. More importantly, he talks to me like I'm normal and not ill.
"I haven't seen mom in a few days." I tell him and he looks away briefly.
"That's strange."
"I know, I'm sure she's just busy with work or something."
"Probably," He sends a smile in my direction. "Anyway, tell me more about Jimin."
Even the sound of his name makes me instantly smile. I blush slightly and divert my gaze to the floor beneath me.
"He's really, really kind. He cares about me a lot." I start off by telling him.
"Where did you meet him?" He asks, leaning back into his chair.
"At a therapy class mom made me go to. Did she tell you I was going?"
"She did," he nods. "I saw the scars underneath's Jimin's sleeve when it reeled up. Are you sure he's the right person for you? I'm only asking because I care, I don't want you being dragged down by a boy - or anyone for that matter."
"It's not like that," I assure him and he relieves me by nodding understandingly. "He cares about me a lot."
"I'm pleased to hear that, all I want is for my daughter to be happy."
"I'm getting there," I tell him honestly. "With the help of Jimin and my family, I'll get there."
